Doesn't look like any deals are close to being done, this is going to the last few days.

What Italian word keeps getting translated as 'important'?

There must be a better English equivalent for it. I'm guessing something like 'suitable' or 'competitive' or possibly even 'fair'.

Doesn't anyone on Twitter know how to use an Italian-to-English dictionary?

Dunno if Dybala and Lukaku are connected in any way but if that swap deal were to happen it'd be very good for us. We now use a system where he could be a really valuable asset in that #10 role, surely a better option than Mata and Lingard, perfect age too.

To be fair to Inter, i’m kind of glad they blocked the sale of Perisic to us by asking too much for him, otherwise we’ll end up with another one of Jose’s players over the age of 30 and with difficulty of moving him on. Maybe we should accept their next improved bid as a ‘small token of appreciation’

We have a very bad record with Argentinian players but I'm sure Dybala will be different.

We have a bad record with Brazilians, Columbians and Chileans too. The culture at our club clearly isn't that we'll suited to South American players like it appears to be at City and Liverpool.

Well, Gabriel Heinze wasn’t a complete fail actually, neither was Tevez from footballing perspective. Veron and di Maria both failed big time. And Rojo even worse :(

So you'd rather we overpay for every signing and sell our players on the cheap. What could possibly go wrong with such a strategy?
We end up with a half decent fecking team? We’re overvaluing Lukaku and overpaying is the reality of the modern market. Maybe we shouldn’t have gone mouthing off about how much money we have.

I would be very, very wary of a potential Dybala signing.

He clearly doesnt want to leave Juve, he's being forced out because they see him as being surplus to requirements. If his head isn't in it, nor his heart, we'll end up with another Di Maria situation - a big earning 'game changer' who isn't committed to being at the club, isn't delivering the goods and is casting glances at Spain, France or Italy (again).

People have moaned for years that we overpay and undersell, the club literally cannot win. I am much happier seeing us drive a hard bargain like everyone has done to us for years.

Has Di Marzio been that reliable recently? Ever since the Pogba transfer a few years ago he got right seems like he’s been as unreliable as the rest.

I would rather we know when to stick to our valuation no matter what and when it's better to get the deal done for slightly less. Lukaku is clearly in the latter category as he just doesn't fit into our team and not many teams are interested in him. If the reports are true that Inter offered €70m + bonuses, I think it's a good offer for Lukaku, it's hardly their problem we massively overpaid for him in the first place. Also it's funny seeing so many people still hurt about Perisic  He was their key player and if I remember correctly, they asked €50m which is surely not an outrageous amount of money considering he was important for them. I fear we will fail to sell him just like we did with Darmian and many others because we simply have no idea how to do it.

If we overpay massively once, every club will want us to overpay using that one transfer as a precedent. We already suffer from it and continuing overpaying will lead to disaster, even for a club of Utd's size.

Similarly, selling a valuable asset on the cheap, especially a CF who is in his prime and scores a decent amount of goals, plus someone another club so massively covets, would be foolishness of the extreme. Lukaku is just 26, even if we don't sell him this year, he'll still be a 27 year old internationally proven CF with 2 years of his contract left. He'll still fetch a decent prize next summer. We hold all the cards in this situation, why give up that advantage? It's not merely about 5-10 million, it's about the message you send to the other clubs too.

He's bang average. Unfortunately when you get a few things right people give you a reputation as a transfer oracle. For many, this reputation becomes bulletproof no matter how much shite and inaccuracy you spout going forward.
