I think slowing down a bit on the transfer front is fine as well. We won't have a title challenge next year anyway, so we should give this whole youth thing a shot and if Ole flops horribly we won't be stuck with yet another re-build job once a new manager / philosophy come in.

We'll make atleast one more big money signing (I'd much rather it be some CM / Winger than Maguire), but even if we've only got James, Maguire, AWB, we'd have strengthened key deficiencies in the squad really well. If we get someone like Eriksen (or any other AM like Fernandes) to top it off, it'll be the perfect summer for me.

Excited to see a 4-4-2 diamond (we've played this with Mata at the tip of the diamond last season)

---------------- De Gea -------------------
-- AWB -- Maguire -- Lindelof -- Shaw --
------------------ Matic -------------------
---------- McTominay -- Pogba -----------
------------------ Eriksen -----------------
-- Rashford -------------------Martial ----

In defence it will look more like a traditional 4-5-1 with Eriksen / Rashford occupying the forward role and the other one dropping off to cover the RW.

--Rashford-- McTominay -- Pogba -- Martial

It looks like we have enough depth at CM but someone like Longstaff to rotate with Matic would be great as well. McTominay can play the Matic role when he's rested / injured. McSauce can be rotated with Fred / Pereira. If Pogba is rested, we'd have to switch to a different formation and play a 5-3-2 (with Rojo replacing him) or 4-5-1 with James / some other winger replacing him and Rashford upfront.

I don't think there's a chance in hell we are getting Eriksen, it;s annoying that the his thread is getting bumped all the time because I think most likely he's staying put and if there is a chance that he's moving, it's abroad.

Also why would he want to downgrade, spurs are in the CL, I know we're Manutd and all that big club history etc but I really don't see anything in that at all.

The only way the lack of transfer activity could be justified is if the youngsters actually get a chance.

Relying on Matic, Young, Rojo etc. for considerable game time this season is unforgivable.

Doesn't really matter though. My point is if we get an AM (like Fernandes / Eriksen) or a starting CM (and have Pogba play AM) we'd have had a good transfer window.

Eriksen as a striker?

We played Mata in that role last season with him at the tip of the diamond. On offence it will be Mata (AM) with Rashford / Martial as Strikers while on defence we left one of Rashford / Mata upfront and the other dropped to RW in a standard 4-5-1.

We lost that game (or drew against some cannon fodder, can't remember) but felt we had some showed some good attacking intent in one half atleast. I guess people also call it the false-9 when Messi plays that role but it's slightly different how we've played it.

Cheers I’d say we’re in some trouble if people are expecting us to add a big difference maker in the attack.

I for one think ole will be happy rolling with Chong, Gomes, and Greenwood and seeing if anyone can be a first team regular.

I'd be happy with that too plus Axel and Garner etc .

Truth is we know we are rebuilding and I'd rather do that with our very promising younger players than with above average mercenaries that are only here for inflated wages and will block the progress of our young players

I called Zaha to Chelsea months ago. I think they would have advanced if there was no ban. I've no idea how it will materialize but Wilfred to Chelsea is best for all parties in my opinion.

Dybala is a funny player - I can't work out if I rate him or not really, but I think he's one of those players who I am not desperate for us to sign, but at the same time I don't want our rivals to sign him either.

L’Équipe are full of bs aren't they. Are they mirror/dailymail standard in France?

He tweeted about Maguire too but deleted it.

Re Maguire, I’m informed even Harry himself doesn’t know what’s happening. Leicester maintain they don’t want to sell him. It’s creating a logjam, and agents are keen for it to be resolved so the market can start moving. #MUFC are apparently painful in how they handle these deals

If this does happen we can officially say Spurs have gone above us now. Big name to be going there.

Would be a big signing for them, I actually think NDOmbele was a bigger one in terms of we should have signed him.

Of course a CL final and higher league position would suggest with signings on a bigger level, but its one season.

ALso people raving about it being an absoloutely huge coup for them...is it though? Spurs have always made really big signings even when not hugely successful Gascoigne, Klinsmann and even Ginola spring straight to mind as bigger name signings than Dybala would be

That PSG midfield is going to be very difficult to break down. A lot of odd signings as they’ll walk the league and should probably have targeted more creative players for the champs league.

Find it a bit odd myself. Has been really good in the premiership, but he isnt young and though they have sold Rabiot they must have loads of central midfielders now what with Herrera and the Argentinian whose name I have forgotten as barely played already added to what they already have

He used to leak the United teams early so may actually have some contacts.

If that's true then can someone please explain the following train of thought:

- Manager wants transfers done by preseason
- United interested in Bruno Fernandes
- months worth of links to Bruno
- United still considering signing the player with less than two weeks left of the transfer window

How exactly does that happen? Someone please explain to me how it could possibly be anything other than poor poor handling of our transfers.

Matt Law: Everton have told Crystal Palace they are prepared to pay £60 million plus striker Cenk Tosun for Wilfired Zaha, but fear they could miss out to Chelsea. Telegraph Sport understands that Chelsea are weighing up a bid for Zaha that would take him to Stamford Bridge once the club have served their transfer ban.

With Pulisic how does this make sense? Have they given up on him based on pre season??
