We'd be better off sending Lukaku on loan to a PL club than to keep him as a squad player. At Everton he was the inform striker in the league. He will recapture that form at the right club and then someone like Bayern or Atletico might pay big for him next year. Would be nice if Everton or Palace were willing to swap Richarlison or Zaha for him.
Not a bad idea about the loan option.

Would literally get a heart attack if we signed Fernandes, Pepe and another decent midfielder (Longstaff?). Never going to happen though.

Do you really not have any idea why it’s just a story for us and not other execs? Think about it...do you think all those newspapers coming out with this story had a big secret meeting and decided to release the same exact story at the same time with the same agenda?

Hint: It’s a briefing. I know you’ve been defending him and will defend him here and I’m not one of those people who has the pitchforks out for him, but this one’s a very obvious briefing, regardless of how we feel about the man.

Thanks for your ‘hint’ kind sir.

And what newspapers are you referring to by the way? I saw a post by ‘Sky Sources’ or whatever. This is just an example over the years of a focus on Woodward. There is no ‘briefing’ here, there have been a number of articles questioning and discussing the detail of Woodward’s role in recent years. I’m no media whizz, but I don’t think they are what are called briefings.

Also, I don’t ‘defend’ him. I question those who attack him, as I am confident they have nowhere near the information required to do so, at least to the level and detail that they do. I don’t have enough information to say he’s brilliant as such either. But the notion of finger pointing at him for every thing is misplaced and misinformed I suspect, which is more my consistent theme. If there was even a consensus as to what Woodward’s specific duties are, with clear distinction about which decisions he makes himself, which are made by others etc - then fair enough. I’m not sure there is though, which makes all the moaning just seem like emotional brattiness, which is unbecoming!

If Woodward himself is briefing this, the two transfers will definitely happen. Otherwise he’ll look like a total mug if it doesn’t
Because that’s never happened to him before? Signing Maguire a year after telling anyone who’d listen that he wasn’t good enough may put paid to hopes of retaining dignity.

Absolutely. Under the former regime, it was never ‘Gill better get this deal done’ either. Fans didn’t concern themselves with the intricacies of negotiations, and even now, I am confident the moaners can’t definitively say what role Woodward plays in the process anyway.

The media sow a seed of negativity about us, and it seems most of our fans are young/hysterical and lap it all up. We’ve done two deals and are working on more. No big club has got 4 or 5 in in the PL. There is a disproportionate fixation on every player we are interested in, every player who signs for any club who they feel could have been useful for us, talk of why WE hadn’t done a deal for De Ligt at 16 or so (unlike Bayern, Barca and PSG who did?). Like, just feck off and let us get on with our shit.

Why are you obsessed with every other club? It doesn't matter whether they've signed anyone it doesn't change the fact we need to strengthen our own team.

Cheek to call others hysterical whilst throwing a fit about people wanting us to make progress

Bruno, Pepe, Dybala could be replacements on potential outgoings (Pogba and Lukaku). I'm not sure anything will happen unless we have positive confirmation on these 2 players.

These sauces are like supermarket cheap brand ketchup. We want the real deal Heinz for crying out loud. I don't think anything is happening yet behind the scenes. I just hope Lukaku goes first before Inter pulls out.

I think the same too but I think we definitely one as I think it would put us at a disadvantage going into the season. I think the club may be hoping we are able to buy Sancho next season.
Agreed about Sancho. He was the one we wanted this season imo and it was him or no one. It might cost us but I personally would rather wait and have Sancho. The only deal I’d of looked at was maybe Bale on loan for the season or maybe Malcom at Barca as a fill in for a season.

Just don’t see us spending 70-80 on Pepe. When it will cost £100mil next season for Sancho.

That would be one hell of an attacking lineup! You figure our lineup will end up like this?

Martial---Rashford---Pepe
-----------Dyblala
-------McTominay---Bruno

Another disadvantage we have with Sancho is that if he stars at the Euro's there is a good chance that a lot of other big clubs could be in for him causing a bidding war, which we may be priced out of.

There’s a tweet by Standard Sport a little lower on the same page of the first ‘Sky Sources’ post.

On the rest of your post, I won’t get into it, partly because I agree with you.

My main point is that this is clearly a briefing. There is no other explanation for at least two different media sources (probably more if we looked further) coming out with the same story using the same wording at the same time. To my knowledge Ole hasn’t talked about anything similar, so it’s not taken from quotes in Shanghai. Whether he briefs or someone else did on his behalf, whether it’s done because he’s playing the media like a fiddle or whether he’s insecure about his public image, is not of any interest to me. What can’t be denied is that it’s a briefing.

Imagine FC starts dropping tweets of some random folk in here on top of low league ones, oh man, meltdown of epic proportions.

I couldn’t care less about other clubs. That would be because I’m a United fan. My impression is that the media do not write from that perspective, however.

Yeah they could but I think we’ve put in some groundwork for him already. I can only see him returning the premier league with his next move. Us or Liverpool imo.

Doesn't stop him being a kn**. He will do anything to make himself look good . I just don't trust him to do anything worthwhile besides Getty more sponsors.

So looks like we're still going for Maguire, Longstaff and Fernandes.

Pepe perhaps coming in if Lukaku leaves which would leave Martial and Rashford to play as centre forwards for this season.

16 days til we know how big Ole and Ed's balls are.

How has so much shit been posted this summer? Absolutely shocking. Nonsense accounts and tabloid rubbish.

SO according to the news station from last 24 hours, we are close to signing Fernandes, Pepe, Savic, Maguire. I say bring on the Quadruple.

I was hoping we leaked the SMS thing to try and force Sporting's hand with Bruno.

All likely to be bollocks and neither are incoming.

I would personally take Richarlison in part exchange. Would be interesting how how much they value him at. If a part-exchange deal was to occur involving Richarlison. How much do you think Everton would value Richarlison at?
I think they value him too highly yo sell this summer. After the season he had they'd want around £80 million.

Yeah they could but I think we’ve put in some groundwork for him already. I can only see him returning the premier league with his next move. Us or Liverpool imo.
I really hope you are right on this as I think he is a fabulous player and think he would do well here but I would dread to see him going to Liverpool. An advantage we might have is that he knows what the Prem is like and may not want to take the risk of going to any of the other big leagues.

I think transfers work like moving house, you need the whole chain to line up before any of them can sign off. Here's what I think might happen:
James from Real to Atletico
Bale from Real to China
Allows Pogba to Real
Savic then to us

Another chain is Inter, who can't afford Lukaku unless they sell Icardi, at least.
Pepe would depend on Lukaku going. As would Ben Yedder.

Worryingly, I think Maguire depends not just on Leicester lining up Dunk, but on us having a buyer for Rojo or Bailly.

You forgot Longstaff. That's a lot of business to do in 16 days. I suspect we will get Maquire and maybe Longstaff. The rest depend on Pogba and Lukaku leaving and we dont want to lose Pogba and it seems we have priced Lukaku too high for Inter to buy.

It's going to be very interesting next 2 weeks.

No it’s not.

It’s going to be dull, full of bs and absolutely nothing is going to happen except maybe a deadline day Fellaini type signing.

I have no idea why people pay any attention to the shite most people post.

Desperation I guess...

Either we sign Pepe this summer and rotate him with Greenwood and don't sign Sancho next year, or we use Greenwood and James on the right this year and buy Sancho next year. Can't see us buying Pepe and Sancho for our attack unless we offload Martial next season. Hopefully Martial has a good season, his attitude this pre-season has been briliant from what I've read.
