A number 10? If so, I assume it would be a replacement for Pogba, as I can't imagine Ole will want a goalscoring centre midfielder because he's spoken about the two at the base of midfield giving the front four freedom to attack.

I think he wants to play the diamond with a goalscoring midfielder at the tip.

Or he might convince pogba to play the role he played for France with a partner like tielemens who has the legs that Matic doesn't.

It could also be horses for courses where both play against lesser sides they struggle to break down and add an additional midfielder into a diamond if he needs more control.

Did he not convince in Scotland

Hardly started a game for Celtic. Majority, in fact all of his appearances were from the bench. Didn’t look that amazing either when he did play.

He’s gone to the USA for the U20’s after Neil Lennon told him he was free to leave and didn’t need him for the OF fixture tomorrow or the Scottish Cup final against Hearts in a fortnight. Pretty much says it all. If he was that good, they would have tried to keep him for the final at least.

You actually believe his goodbye message was genuine and heartfelt? And you genuine believe he's been hard done by?
It's not about that part, I think the club is right in what they did because he was asking to much from us, but I do think he loved playing for the club. And I just didn't agree with you assuming that we all don't care that he's leaving, when some of us do.

Mbabpe plays now like an end product, he is so mature that his decision making is like a 25 yrs old player. That is why he rated is to 250 m.
What did Sancho do? played an ok season with Dortmund? does that make him a unique talent? yes he is a talented player but he should be at the same price of Sane because he is at his level when he joined citeh nothing more.

I'd say exactly the same thing about Sancho. Is he the finished article, no, but his decision making is that of a much older player.

It's also the reason why De Ligt is so highly rated and if/when he moves, he will go for a big price, despite not being the 'end product'.

A player we should be after.

Young, Composed on the ball,Good passing range, Wouldn't cost a coutinho, already has experience playing in prem. Not sure about his defensive game but looks good with the ball at least.

Wouldn't be surprised if we showed no interest, seems our thing with good players at the moment.

250m with 2 years to go :wenger:

And most people here would accept Pogba going for about 150m when he's way more valuable!

I totally disagree and agree totally with what the article allege Madrid think of him. As talented as he is, never been convinced by his football, personality or contribution consistently when ever I saw him at Juventus or here bar the three months.
How is he worth £150m when he hasnt even justify the price tag of virtually half, that we paid for him. £150m is a near record fee, what has he shown that the likes of Bale, Ronaldo, Mbappe, Neymar, Zidane, Figo, Kaka etc etc have done before him? We should bite there hands off for anything around £130m in my opinion, his commercial value and ability may be world class but that flatters to decieve

I wonder what the feck is our PR or media communication is even doing. You've seen examples of journalists apologizing in the last two days for putting out false news about City whereas it's an open season for us.

This. Absolutely this.

No-one's buying Eriksen for 250m. Levy's just a better negotiator (some would say git) and starts high when selling, low when buying.

thankfully the media doesn't dictate if we sell Pogba and what price.

Typical, could have had him last summer with no competition in our way but now potentially have the Champions League winner and Europa League winner to compete with. Well done Ed Woodward.

Think he was a tougher buy last Summer, and a more expensive one after that World Cup. The club and Ed should have still agreed a massive budget for CB last Sumer though, whether that went on Maguire or not doesn't matter.

So could the other clubs going after him. Why didn’t they sign him last summer either?

Maybe, just maybe, we wanted another year to look at him. I don’t know. This ‘we could have signed him at 16’ stuff every time we are linked to a playernis a bit tiring now though.

Fair point after his World Cup performance, I just like having a go at Woodward because he's a donkey.

I hope we lose this battle. He’s had a poor season. Not worth £60m.

How much of Leicester have you seen ? It’s not like they’re live on the box every week. I haven’t seen too much of them throughout the season but the common theme when I have is that Maguire is invariably the stand out performer on the pitch.

He wants a goalscoring midfielder. Every manager from Moyes onwards wanted one. Moyes bought Mata, van gaal tried Memphis, Mata, Rooney, januzaj in that role, Mourinho bought mkhitaryan and now ole wants Fernandes.

I'm not sure I'd class all or even most of those as goal scoring midfielders but out of the entire bunch Rooney is the only one that was a success for us, maybe we should stop treading the same path.

Because I don't think he looks anything special, his stats are a misdirect IMO, he doesn't protect the ball well enough and is physically lacking, he's a cross between Mkhitaryan physically and Sigurdsson, he's scored a lot of goals but the number is overblown due to the fact he plays in a 3rd tier league.

Some of you need to realise Ole will not build a technical tiki taka side with 70% ball possession and playing the ball out of our own 6 yard box type of style. He said it himself that he is looking for hard work, pace and direct football. Sure players need to be comfortable on the ball, but we wont compete with the likes of City in possession and combination play.

That's not what he's said after numerous games, he's talked about wanting to have more control and more possession many times, and he's tried to play out from the back a lot which has cost us as we don't currently have the players for it, look at the videos explaining how his Molde team played, the "Pace and power" shite isn't going to get it done anymore, you need more, and in that #10 role you need more guile and nous, not just a long range shot for Youtube. Duncan Castles has no skin in the game and he said neither City or United are interested because every top scout he's talked to has said he's not good enough for a top club, more like a top 6 Serie A side, and I agree, hopefully our club does as well, I bet there's no chance he goes to City or Pool and the latter are supposedly looking for an AM. We need a player like Eriksen, Dybala, Bernardo, De Bruyne or even Fekir in that spot I am guessing will replace Pogba.

He isn’t. Sport Witness bollocks

I hope you're right.

Maybe 10 games, so not a lot but enough to see that Maguire isn’t as good as he was last season. They had a manager change in fairness so that has to be considered also.

In basic terms, Leicester have conceded 48 goals this season and Maguire is their main man. United have conceded 52 and our defence is described as absolutely horrible and requires an overhaul.

Cause he enjoys a good moan. :)
No, I just form my own opinion rather than being led along like a sheep on a leesh. Notice I never said anything negative about the Tielemans link or the Meunier link or the Dybala link, in fact I was positive on the latter 2. I just don't lap up every player we are linked with.

How much do you know about Fernandes?
