Well we want the exact same reassurances ourselves.

I have nothing against Pogba. Reading through our current list of players his name sticks out like a sore thumb. Been saying for years that we need to get 2 or 3 more on his level to have a team. This deficiency in quality has gone on for too long now, and we shouldn’t keep going into games every week waiting for our central midfielder to win it for us.

I know we think Marcotti is a bit of a tit, but still:

Err, noncommittal :wenger:

Maybe he's hoping too get his £500k contract for the next season as Real can't afford him now without offloading any players and he decides he wants to go next year anyway when they have sufficient funds. Hoping that he is being sincere and that if he does stay and the get the quality of players that he is after that he knuckles down, put in the necessary effort and plays consistently well like we know he can.

If we are keeping Pogba, we need a totally different CM to Savic.

The only reason we'd get Savic is to replace Pogba, otherwise he is

I like this talk, get the cheque book out woody. We (including Pogba) want a CB, a DM, a CM, a RW and a striker.

We don't want to see Young play again. Jones/ Rojo/ Darmian can all go. Another young CB might help replace them as last backup (yes that means scouting team need to do some f'ing work)

Sanchez should be shifted for the RW (even if we have to pay something to get rid) and Lukaku for the striker.

All the above is needed anyway and it could protect our £150m asset. You know it makes sense Woody!

And as a striker, i hear Mbappe is the biggest shirt seller out there, go fetch. And don't worry about that Yedder dude, most won't even know who he is.

Not playing devils advocate but its hard to question the squad direction considering the last 3 transfer windows here have been a joke.

Even if he is dead set on leaving he picked the wrong summer for it considering his price is too high for Madrid/Juve.

I see this ending with him signing a bumper new contract after the English window closes and then leaves next summer like Ronaldo.

I would most likely question the club's ambition if I was in Pogba's seat, especially the mess we've been in the past few years in mind. You can call Pogba overrated or underrated, the bottom line is he is a wanted man by clubs who have the quality to win trophies consistently, and he is currently in a club who have had a rebuilding project for 6 years and gotten nowhere. He has every right to be concerned about his career.
Not having this at all. Him and his many many crap half-assed performances over the last few years are a big part of the reason we are where we are. He, and those like him, are very much a part of the problem at the club.

Ah, he's pulling the ol' Wayne Rooney on us. All we need now is for Ole to channel Fergie with a press conference about cows and he'll have signed a new deal by the end of the year.

Serious question - How do transfers work. By going by the media it goes like:
Say you want a defender - Maguire
1) Send out reports to media that your interested
2) Wait a bit see what happens. Maybe other clubs will come in
3) Talk to players agent. See if he is interested
4) Talk to club - Yo. We want Maguire. Are you selling? No
5) Wait for a bit
6) Oh sht the Sun is reporting Man City is interested.
7) Ring club again - Would you sell for 50? No?
8) Wait for a bit
9) Talk to agent again - Player on holiday. Cant go further
10) Two weeks later player back from holiday. Had a few drinks and now might think about moving but not sure. He likes the shops where he is at
11) Ring club - How about 60 mill. What! you want 100! Muther beep beep beep
12) Ring agent - Tell player to start making it known he wants to leave
13) Wait a bit
14) Ring club - Oh now you want 80. ah we are getting to them.
15) Tell papers that we want another player.
16) Get some of our players to ring wanted player and talk all sexy to him
17) Wait a bit
18) Tell papers that we are preparing a bid.
19) Wait a bit
20) Talk to player - offer terms - unofficially. Player likes cash but is undecided. Uncle Sams birthday coming up. Will decide after
22) Get lawyers to write a fancy bid on fancy paper and send to the club.
23) Wait a bit
24) Get a phone call - bid rejected. Will take Martial + 50 Mill
25) Wait a bit
26) Uncle Sams Birthday has finished. Player wants to leave. Not sure which club he will choose
27) Deadline day -Bid 85. Fly player in last minute. 11.55 send final docs to FIFA by fax.

Is this really how it works? Or does it work normally
1) Speak to club and over the same conversation - 50 no. Ok what you want. 100. Man you trippin. 55. 1 hour later - ok Agreed 80
2) Ring Player and Agent - We want you. - Over the the same conversation - 80 a week - no 200. Ok agreed at 180
3) Ok I know its a big decision but we have to know by X. Cool ok
4) Player rings - City interested but I still want to come - Will you increase to 200. OK
5) Agreed by all parties. Signed.

This made me laugh so worth the amount of typing you did in my opinion. Although you could probably add a few steps to the first scenario and it would be more accurate for us.

Totally agree, these clowns have blighted us for far too long now and wouldn't get in any top half PL team yet keep popping up in lineups for crucial games, specifically Jones out of those as young will be bit-part next season.

Is the Pogba news a surprise? He's a world class player, not good enough to carry the dross around him but top quality nonetheless.

This is a Rooney mark II situation, the ambition of the club is rightly being questioned by our star player. we've signed some promising young players and have good youth prospects, we are still lacking 3 or 4 first XI players who will improve us instantly. Of course this isnt news to any of us, who knew this exact fact for the majority of last season.

Pogba has ambition. Same way Lukaku is not sitting here to be second choice.

I think it's fair for him to be sceptical of the clubs direction and ambition, many of us do it daily. It's not that dissimilar to the Rooney situation in 2010.

Pogba gets a lot of bad press but I don't think he has done much wrong this summer. We have shown no ambition to catch up to our rivals in the last four transfer windows and his prime years are being wasted in a side when he could be winning honours at several other clubs. It's understandable that he wants to leave but Madrid need to stump up the cash and he has been entirely professional in what must be a difficult time for him in his career.

I keep reading this but can’t see what’s professional about saying it’s time for a new challenge in your first public appearance of pre season, inviting a circus for the second summer running. Even if you agree with his concerns and personal goals, there is zero reason to air it publicly, for the third time at this club

Yep, completely agree. Not sure how anyone can honestly defend doing that. I completely get the bloke wanting to go, but that was a piss poor way to start the summer, and it set the tone terribly.

He said it "may be time for a new challenge", didn't he?

And Rooney was proven right. We lost player's like Aguero, Silva, Hazard over our reluctance and Pogba is right now.

Can we not get into word games, the blatant insinuation was that he was looking to move. If you disagree with that then we will just have to agree to massively disagree and not get into a pointless back and forth.

'After this season and everything that happened, with my season being my best season … it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.”

Not defending him mind, but I couldn’t care less if he has an amazing season. I don’t hold any of our players, or any other players, as role models or people to look up to. Bunch of overgrown babies the lot of them, who’ve not learnt normal people’s lessons, because most of them have been screened and told they’re the bee’s knees from a young age, just to develop their skills running after and kicking a rubber ball.

I’d never expect them to act like mature adults. No love for any of them, only for ManUtd.

Think the major difference is that Rooney said it privately and the papers picked it up. While Pogba said it in his first interview of the summer. I appreciate his position given that he wants to be a world-class team and we're not willing to spend money. But there's a way to do things and I don't think he's done it correctly.

Also, if that were the only difference between pogba and Rooney we'd be in a far better place. Couldn't lace his boots

Rooney wasn't as blatant but I think it's much more likely that Rooney's people made sure that the message got into the papers.

What? It was Sir Alex who broke the news about Rooney wanting to leave. Some fans should check Wayne's statement afterwards and see what they think of it in hindsight as he took so much actual undeserved abuse.

Eriksen said he want a new challenge and there was hardly any media focus on him. Why are people acting like its the first time a player has said that?

Because United fans have some sort of trauma towards Real Madrid wanting one of our players. I reckon a good chunk still haven't recovered from Ronaldo's departure and are unwilling to accept that to certain people - Spanish, Portuguese speaking for example - Madrid and Barca will always be a more attractive proposition than Manchester.

Also Erikson saying he wants a new challenge doesn't get nearly as many clicks as Pogba saying he wants a new challenge, and most people just believe whatever they read.

For the amount of abuse Rooney took over that, he was ultimately proven right.
You cant replace Ronaldo with Valencia and expect the same results.
And Rooney was proven right. We lost player's like Aguero, Silva, Hazard over our reluctance and Pogba is right now.

Rooney was flirting with City, that was the main reason why the fans went against him.

yeah you're right. I've had a look and Fergie made his statement about Rooney "wanting away".

Rooney then confirmed it and that's when the bit about the club not matching his ambitions came out.

Why would they? Imagine keeping Rooney after confirming he wanted to join City.
Imagine immediately believing the paper bollocks that is written on a daily basis. Sir Alex would have made sure it was known if that was the case, some people just want to keep hating on one of our biggest legends in the club's history.

man plays with lingard, mata, rashford, matic, mctominay, young, smalling, jones and shaw. shit, I would need reassurances or a pay hike too.

It was widely reported at the time, no smoke without fire.

SAF was a great politician, he knew really well what to say and what no to say.
It makes zero sense to admit your want-away player, the biggest star at the club, wants a move to your local and league rival.
Doesn’t work like that, SAF wanted Rooney to stay, if he didn’t it would’ve been a different story.

Rooney put in a transfer request . I think that's blatant enough and he went public saying the squad wasn't good enough

MEN understands senior United sources believe the club is being linked to the player in an attempt to whip up an auction for Lemina, who could leave for around £30million.
