I know nothing about those players but a lot of people here seem to want those two to play here so whilst they may not make city better, they could have made us better(?).

To be fair re signing fellaini might make us better....

There's a lot of players who would make us better, just because City may be signing two of them again shouldn't be of any concern to us. Plenty more out there we can go for, plenty more than would prevent less of a risk as well I would imagine

Getting rid of the divide in the dressing room will be costly but it should be something the management can achieve.

Booting out Alexis should be no.1 on the list.

That is some spinning from the club. The reality is that no superstar player who is still ambitious and hungry for success would consider to coming to this basket case of a club while they have offers from other big clubs.

But that may well turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Good. Pogba aside, we chase big names, fail to get them, look like fools in the process and then rush into b-list alternatives on the rebound. Football is in a different phase right now. Even City's team is assembled with mostly players who hadn't performed at a big club yet but showed they were ready rather than established names. Liverpool's most certainly is.

Of course your club needs even better judgement of players this way. Which is where the problem may well lie.

No Champions League football, a novice coach who everyone expects to be fired by new year, and a lack of even a semblance of a title challenge in six years - these things eventually have an impact on who you can attract.

The club, it appears, are aware of this, which is presumably why they desperately tried to bury that Lingard interview last week. And now this.

Still, it might actually end up inadvertently benefitting us in the longer term (assuming we pick up some younger, hungrier players with something to prove).

Nothing to do with him interested in a move when he's under contract. Dortmund clearly have said that he isn't for sale so unless we do stupid things then he wont be coming to Utd.

To be fair, we might do stupid things. In fact it's quite likely.

Just thought you knew something/someone/Sancho hinself as you've made these claims a few times like they're nailed on.

How can so called brains at the club not understand a club like United doesn't need to buy "names". It can itself make "names" if they become world class on the pitch.

But that's only part of it. No structure. No identity. No footballing men. A poor man's Moyes as coach. Shambles .

So where are our rumored signings? I mean our season is over and surely everyone at the club realises just how much needs to be done in the summer.

So Mitten says Chong and Gomes will be loaned and Luckhurst says they might be promoted.

I hope they are loaned out. They need to get some regular first team football and toughen up a bit. Chong was like Bambi on ice against Huddersfield.

If he joins them, watch him turn out to be a high-octane pressing machine with more stamina than Bernardo Silva with three lungs. You just know they're going to get another fecking cheap gem.

He was linked to United too about two weeks back. Seems we do know how and where to find talent, it's just after we have we don't actually try to sign them.

I think there is interest there and rightly so as he is a promising young player, but to do stupid things would turn him from a hungry young player into a made it multi millionaire.

Really he is worth 60m-70m tops yet if Utd started shelling over 100m on him then i doubt he will be as hungry as now to be a success.

I have read other places people think they are in the know that he isn't coming. Also with Dortmunds firm hands off it would take a silly silly offer and massive wages which we should be staying clear of.

We do, but we've got a process to follow.

- Looking into X player
- Scout player
- Take Notes
- Assessing player
- Preparing a bid
- Moving closer to making an approach
- low ball bid of half the value of player, which is roundly rejected.
- Relinquish interest in player. Repeat ad-nauseam for every target.
- Start Rashy as main CF for season.

Yes, that's Woodward for you right there. But hey at least the rot hasn't set in our scouting system. Yet.

Don't forget taking notes by the scout. Maybe we lost our pen. Actually for all the scouts and games they attend, we seem to get very little from them. Most of the players we sign have been heard of or are seen numerous times on TV. I would love to be a scout getting in to see all these game for free.

Pretty much. I doubt anyone at the club has a clue at the moment whats going to happen with the squad. I am really asking myself what have we done since sacking Jose for next season.
Broken our hearts....again!

I like this “no big-name signings” policy, and it’s obviously not a black or white one either, reminds me of SAF’s policy, from time to time we would get a big name player, but we really have to start doing business wisely.

Interesting if they are loaned out. We're going to have a lot of games next season, they could play in the league cup and will be handy in the Europa League.

I think Solskjaer would have targeted young and hungry players over superstars regardless of whether we got top 4 or not. That idea has been consistently reported for months and I remember a press conference when someone asked him about signing Bale in the summer and his reply was taken to be generally against the idea of signing players of that ilk.

Of course for Woodward going after young British players instead of big names would be a massive change. But hopefully he isn't calling the shots this summer.

The issue is not if we buy superstars or not. If the player fits the bill, great, if he is now 20 and relatively unknown or 26 and a superstar, nobody cares. But there must be a plan behind it and signing as many players as possible/needed to improve us.

I remember him being rated by quite a few on here.
