I know The Sun generally talks a lot of rubbish but what do people think about their suggestions of Pogba plus cash deals for either Rabiot or Kroos. Personally I have always been a fan of Toni and do not see his age as an issue because his game has never been about pace and he is class on the ball. In regards to Rabiot I see him as a very different sort of player to Kroos but would welcome him and maybe the premier league could be just the challenge he needs to get his career going again.

That article is the biggest piece of clickbait transfer rubbish I've ever seen.

Absolutely nothing to validate the headline's suggestion that Ole is keen on the idea.

It even says that it is unlikely that Pogba will move to Madrid during the January window.

Thats our midfield reinforcements sorted by the club this window.
No pressure on the lad if he is indeed coming into the 1st team and not back in the u-23's. This club (owners/directors/ any transfer go ahead guy) is getting beyong a joke now, you'd think we would have something close to finalised with the issues we have been having.

I am getting so fed up of this stance that Utd will only sign players if the right ones available and at the right price, we are literally down to the bare bones but the board aren't acting like a football club they are acting like a business. These morals of Ole's are going to end up costing us top four and very likely the europa league too.

We simply have to test Villa's resolve with a proper bid for Grealish despite what Dean Smith might have said in his pre FA cup presser today and don't try to undercut them Woody like you have tried to do with the majority of our signings since you took on the role.

There was a couple of links saying we’re interested but you think this board are capable of pulling off a signing like this? One of the most coveted young AM’s in Europe...don’t hold your breathe.

There is a thread all about Kai Havertz and if you go to the fourth page of that you will see some information from Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic about his understanding on Utd's interest in him, hopefully that will help to give you a better insight into the current situation.

Wheras this is low, Smalling is known as a terrible shirt grabber. Not necessarily bad, but in this day in age, it is basically a non-contact sport. :(
Almost as if they don’t have VAR in seria A

That's the point: with VAR all of Smalling's octopus-in-the-box shenanigans will be punished. His shirt pulling, man handling, and wrapping arms around attackers would not survive a VAR review.

they’ve had VAR in Serie A since 2017. Same league that Smalling is having an outstanding season in. So pray tell how he’s surviving?
I’ll give you a clue, he’s adapted his game and his ‘shenanigans’ are rated in Caf facts by many, but aren’t based on any actual facts.

We'd concede fewer goals from corners playing Smalling rather than Lindelof I would think.

Glad to hear he's doing well at Roma, but I am bemused by the memory of reliable Smalling some posters have. In the last years, Smalling was this guy for us:

I cannot remember the reliable Smalling some seem to be talking about. Not since SAF era, maybe tiny bit into LvG era, but that's about it.

And overall, his stats were nothing to call home about (esp. considering it got progressively worse)

Duels won 1,082 Duels lost 629 (Success:63%)
Aerial battles won 645. Aerial battles lost 324 (Success: 66%)
Own goals: 4

Then you've also got to consider how he'd get done over by VAR.

Why do people keep saying this. There is var in serie A, it clearly isn't in any way bothering him. I have seen maguire do similar amounts of grabbing and so have many other cb's, only difference is media isn't howling about those every 10 seconds.

why is there nothing serious about us getting anybody? it's mind boggling, we'll be fielding Jones and Dalot in midfield in a month's time if we don't strengthen now. Wouldn't there be some substantial noise if we really had someone lined up already? Do you believe we are signing anybody in Jan?

It's so so stupid. Maguire is probably even worse in that respect as he is slow as feck. Gets away with it as well.

I'd rather the cash. Especially over kroos. His age is an issue because we'd need to replace him very soon anyway.

Guys probably got another 4 years in him. He’s a smart player, isn’t overly dependent on his physical attributes. There is zero percent certainty the club would use the money to improve the team.

Veteran players are used to provide depth/backup and mentor younger counter-parts. Why would we buy Kroos for the position (DMF, or playmaker) which we don't have the younger talent to mentor in? He would have to be our starting DMF or playmaker in a team that is supposed to be built on youth. And while he is sometimes deployed in these roles, neither DMF nor playmaker is his primary role.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense... not.

They have VAR in Italy and it doesn’t seem to have been a problem for him.

I sometimes wonder : do these Smalling haters actually watch games, or simply use Redcafe as their puking stop?

Borussia Dortmund have bid €40 million for Juventus defender Merih Demiral, according to @DiMarzio. Leicester City have also submitted an offer

Di Marzio must really hate Dortmund's defenders. Every transfer window he makes up a rumour about the club signing an expensive Serie A CB.
Dortmund have four CBs in Hummels, Akanji, Zagadou and Balerdi. Unless they sell Akanji completely out of the blue the club has little need for another one this winter, even less so for a club record fee that would assume Demiral's value doubled while spending half a year on the Juventus bench. Not to mention the political dimensions in this case, Demiral being primarily known in Germany for being the guy who urged Ayhan to do a military salute, when he didn't want to.

How about Olivier Giroud? Backup player and offer us something different. Chelsea want to sell
