Very frustrated that we haven't gone in strongly for Pavard at that price
The price was always €35m since it is his release clause. Bayern made contact around last year‘s WC, so they had a lead and the German press said months ago that they have his okay to move to them for 2019.

I think we need a rw more then a centre back. We have plenty of cb for the time being, they may not be great but we have a decent few. we have no good rw. The right side of the team is almost non existent.

Frustrating to see other clubs doing deals but I suppose this is the state we find ourselves in post Mourinho

We haven't had a strong transfer window since 2016 when we signed Pogba and Lukaku. This has been the only time since the Glazers took over the club that United has spent according to their wealth. Most other clubs (other than Arsenal and Spurs) have had windows where they've spent all their profits on the team.

Oh I know you're being sarcastic about the CB part, I just don't think us being in for Carrasco is so far fetched. Would two incomings really be too much to ask?

I dont think it much to ask since we did not use much money in the summer, compared to what we earn as a club. But the Glazers needed some pocket money so took out some money instead of buying a defender.

THere is reason to believe that the club will want to save money for the permanent manager. Players like Koulibaly is not growing in trees and we all know that we need to bolster our defence with a CB so why not go all out on a class CB before appointing a permanent manager?

It seems like there wont be much money spent in january if any when you listen to what Ole have said.

In the CB position we need to sell before we buy, same as what Mourinho was told in the summer. Smalling, Lindelöf, Jones, Bailly and Rojo. That's 5 first team CBs. We could do with getting rid of the latter 3 sooner rather than later, but it's unlikely such major surgery will happen in 3 weeks as you said.

I feel like we won't see any changes to the roster this window, mostly because we won't find buyers for our players and the squad is basically full.

Do we need to sell before we buy in january? I mean we have Darmian, Jones, Mata, Pereira etc on outgoing contracts in the summer. Will free up some funds and wages?

I really hope Jones wont get a new contract and we buy a class CB instead.

But as it seems we wont sell these players, i would give them away free now in january just to free up wages and spots. And go all in on Koulibaly for example to give us a fighting chance in CL for example and cement the 4th place.

Toss in Rojo aswell in the free transfers, he is injury prone and not good enough.

You may be right, but there should be no need to choose. We're functionally the third richest club in world football - we should be able to buy more than one player at a time.

Wasn’t Lukaku signed a year after we signed Pogba though?

Italia surprise! According to Wanda Nara, Mauro Icardi will not renew in Inter and could continue his career in Real Madrid or Chelsea

Icardi is deadly. We won't sign a top striker while we have Lukaku unfortunately. Hope he's off to Madrid with Hazard ;)

Chelsea has made an important offer for Barella however the player is not convinced about joining the Blues. The Cagliari president is trying to push the player to accept the move.

Barcelona has been scouting Luka Jovic for a while and they want him to replace Munir as soon as possible.

Meh, I think I'm prepared for the fact that we'll sign no one. Save myself the dissapointment.

When was the last January signing to be an outright success for us.. Evra and vidic in 2006? I'm happy that the team we have can challenge for top 4 and compete in the FA cup

If we were a smart club we'd flog Lukaku off and bring this guy in. Would hate to see him at Chelsea.

Yeah that is true but there was still an ounce of hope in my body we could possibly get a top quality CB but I've come to terms with the fact that we have to wait till summer. Better just keep the faith in our current squad and hope to god that Woodward and co get the next managerial appointment right so we won't have to go through another summer of mediocre signings.

Do you really think we'd be quoted the same price? Bayern always seem to get a good price, often too good imho. Never could put my finger on it. Imagine us getting James on loan with an option of buying him for 35 million. That would never happen. We'd be quoted 100 mil.

He’s got a buyout clause that’s active from next summer so we would have got him for the same price.

Nahitan Nández was transferred to Cagliari in Italy for a figure close to $21 million. Peñarol will receive $600,000.

They were disappointments until the next season anyway

Last January, Liverpool signed the player who, more than any other, has turned them in to genuine title contenders.

January deals can work out pretty well.

Good squad player and doesn't hanker after a payrise despite limited game time. Would be smart to retain his services for another 2-3 years atleast. Even a world class squad, if we have one by then, can do with a grafter like him to pick up the threads in times of injuries and fixture congestion.
