Costa would have been a good signing tbh.
The problem is not with the quality of player. If the player does not fit with the managers vision you are just creating a problem. It could be false but would people really be surprised if it was true?
Costa isn't a terrible option at all but I agree, signings should be left to the manager/DoF to decide on not Woodward.

We should try and sign players in January and not miss out on players because we don't have a manager. Our Scouts will have reports on potential players we can bring here and we need to be ready to pounce like Chelsea did when they signed Hazard from Lille with out a manager.
Milenkovic is a player we're currently linked with by Di Marzio and we shouldn't miss out on such a talent because we don't have a manager.

Their ethos is to blood the youth they find and sell them in three years time for 30m plus euros to sustain the club, during which time they are blooding the next lot .
They went on a spending spree a few seasons ago and brought Portuguese youth talents from lower teams with the aim of doing exactly that.

With no permenant manager and a decision on a permenant manager being left until we hire a DOF who will obviously have a huge say in what signings we make... there is no chance we are going to buy a first team player next month.
City were expecting Pep's arrival for years, correct, so yeah they could plan like that. I'd be surprised if we're organised enough to already have sounded out our next manager got his go ahead for targets to be honest. There will be a lot of leaks when we've got the next manager lined up I expect.

People don’t really get the Napoli chairman if you think we just going in there asking for his player and he going to bend over backwards for us. Look what he did with City and Jorginho. Then that situation with Sarri where he wouldn’t let him go until Chelsea paid the release clause despite hiring Ancelotti. He’s not easy to deal with. Koulibaly has been wanted by Chelsea in the last few years and he’s refused to let him go. It’s going to take something special for the Napoli chairman to consider letting him go.
It's a good job our options aren't just Koulibaly then, there's plenty of other options before we go to signing yet another young prospect.
