£50m rated, guarantee he leaves for less than 25.

Agree, but that's just the media to be fair. I think everyone knows these prices only happen in the EPL for Rose-type players. When they happen abroad it's for only exceptional players. No one in the continent would offer even 30m for Rose. I'm pretty sure Levy knows this too.

What a wage thief

Hate comments like this. Villa chose to give him those wages. Richards has been very very unlucky with injuries, not his fault he hasn’t been able to get over them. Nature of his body size and starting first team football so young. Taken a toll on his knees.

If villa have to pay him out, it’s only their own fault. Contract is a contract.

Employers have no right to break contracts as long as the employee is being professional.

Why wasn’t he playing?
Season before last he had multiple knee injuries. Last year? Dunno but he's never exactly been a consistent performer. Giving him that wage on a rather lengthy contract was always going to be a risk. He hasn't played since the knee injury nearly two years ago, so I would assume complications with that?

Rob Dawson: "Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is prepared to let Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo decide where they want to play this season but has told the pair he would like them to stay at Old Trafford, sources have told ESPN FC....
Sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho would like to keep the two defenders until at least January."

Why would he like them to stay? There's little chance of either of them playing much past September. They're just a waste of money and it's more preferable that someone else gets those minutes.

The club failed to improve the defence by bringing in the players he wanted this summer, so now he probably just wants to at least keep hold of what he's got.

Rojo I could understand, but Darmian is the only backup we have that can play both sides. We're one more injury away from only having 2 FB's. Once Dalot is fit, it won't be an issue.

Wouldn't be surprised if Mourinho sees our full back options as...

First choice: Young and Valencia
Back up: Shaw and Darmian
Extra cover either side: Dalot

I'd personally hope for Dalot and Darmian to be switched, along with Shaw and Young. It's still easy to see why Mourinho would like to keep him around.

Rojo is obviously due to our centre backs deteriorating each and every season so 5 is a minimum he'd like there.

He's been doing his best to flog Darmian all summer, I'm not convinced he sees him as a backup.

Surprised if this is true, we need to get the out the door and off the wage bill asap. Maybe in the immediate future it's better to keep them but it'll just make the next transfer window harder.

"Mirror Sport is aware of at least two clubs who voted for the change that now believe it is a mistake and they should go back to the August 31 deadline...
Premier League chiefs will discuss the window at their next meeting next month but it would take a club to propose a change back to the old system.
It would then require 14 clubs to vote in favour of going back to the old system."

Grand opening, grand closing.

Why the hell didn't they introduce this on a trial basis?

Why the hell didn't they introduce this on a trial basis?

And why on Earth would they chose to begin it in a World Cup year?!

In the end though, if this is indeed Jose's last season, it may well end up being comparable to De Gea's fax machine for Pogba and Martial and turn out brilliantly for United.
