The worst part of this summer is that the next summer there will be double work :

Must sell ( release ) :

-Young (age 34)
-Valencia (age 34)
-Rojo (not good enough)
-Fellaini (please)
-Mata ( It is just time to move on )

So again we must buy - CB , LB , RW , CM (to replace Fella ) , back up RB if we don't use TFM and this is if Dalot is our first choice

Hopefully McTominay can develop and it would mean we don't really need a CM. Of course there are rumours of Herrera wanting to leave next season so that would mean we definitely need to recruit there.

RB as you say will likely be covered by TFM or Tuanzabe.

CB you'd hope would be sorted in January, possibly with Alderweireld if he doesn't play much at Spurs.

That way it would just be LB and RW and I'd say most likely a CM out of the above

Woodward should start planning for Pogba's replacement from now on. Next summer gonna be tough.

Could always just find a manager who wont spend half his summer slagging Pogba off in the media

Both aren't going to stay here any long anyway. Mourinho has 1-2 years max. Pogba the same.

Id say Jose has months left. Spent the entire summer moaning in public about this players and his boss. Even had a go at Valencia two weeks after making him captain. I wont pretend I havent had it with Jose, but from any pov it seems to me that his relationship with the club is hanging by a thread

His public comments about Pogba in particular just seemed petty. I am not even slightly surprised that the spanish clubs smell blood.

Please feel free to post this half a summers worth of slagging off? If you mean his comments on how international tournament football, differs from club football, then maybe you need to be more open to different interpretations of what Jose was saying. But that was hardly half a summers worth of comments, it was like 2/3 minutes.

Mourinho is going to complete the season. It's pretty illogical and based on nothing to think he's going to leave mid season. We're not going Chelsea crushing way + in both Moyes and LVG cases we didn't sack them through the season and needless to say, it's impossible for this season to turn as bad as both imo. We have a good squad and can grind results when needed.

I think we'll finish 2nd or 3rd again with a run in the cups then in the summer we'll evaluate Mourinho's case. That's for now.

Regarding Pogba. I'm also pretty sure he's not leaving in Jan. Next season though Barca will come heavily for him and unless the relations and issues are solved throughout the season, he'll leave. I'm sure it's not Mourinho alone that's his problem. It wasn't SAF either when he left earlier anyway. Raiola is just moving him like a complete puppet and probably got the Barca offer in his ears and convincing him to accept it now.

Next summer gonna be tough and Woodward need to plan for it from now.

If Jose had his way, he'd have sold Pogba and used the money to buy Milinkovic-Savic, I bet. And Dries Mertens would have replaced Martial, who would have been traded to Spurs in exchange for Alderweireld.

With those additions to the squad, maybe United would actually have a chance of winning the title this year. Instead, we'll be struggling for a Champions League place.

How much have you actually seen of Savic? He looked bang average at the world cup and not fit to lace Pogba's boots.

Heidel confirmed it that they reached an agreement with PSG

Not a single rumour or link before it was made official. Good efficiency from the PSG recruitment team.

I don't know anything about the player, the fee isn't cheap but unless he fails badly considering his age it isn't a major risk.

That isn't the way we'll get to where we want to be, you can only afford to do that when you're at the top. It's been stated that he would be happy to stay numerous times, so give him the captaincy and a pay rise if he continues to dominate like Friday night. You have to keep your top players happy, they are more important than managers/coaches now.

Well yes that’s obviously the best thing to do but having his quotes after our first match , id say he isn’t happy staying here, and im positive this wont be the last we hear on this .

Definitely, id love him to kill it from now on but i can still see him wanting to leave, the only way i see it changing is if jose decides to attack more and get the best out of him.

A Wittmann player finally at a world-class club

Heidel and Wittmann are surely best friends for today

Heidel actually stated, that Kehrer and Wittmann behaved very respectful during negotiations. After the Meyer mess I really thought that Heidel would call him out this time, but it seems that they can be professional at times.

How the feck do Juve do it?
They are totally the masters of nabbing players on the cheap.....seems like the modern rules and inflation of transfer fees just doesn't apply to them

Juve and Bayern are both unscrupulous clubs who work on players well in advance of their contracts expiring and get them to run down their contracts and join for free.

If he is unhappy or if Jose won't play him this season, then i'll rather we just loan him out than to lose him permanently tbh. Sign him up on a new contract, and loan him out to get more experience.

Sanchez, Lukaku, Rashford, Lingard, Mata is already a good option upfront without Martial. If Milan wants to take him on loan, without any option to buy, I think that would be a good idea, while United find buyer for the likes of Mata. The squad is bloated but not filled with quality players, and mostly are remnants of LvG era.

Have any of you read the article before firing off on your anti Pogba stance? It states he's happy to stay if he's shown support and faith without being undermined like he was last year. This ties in to the RMC report from Friday also saying the same thing.

Bloody ell the pitchforks out, mob mentality. After your kindness in actually reading and then summarizing the piece I expected some more sensible replies. Nope. Folks just love to be outraged :)

You mean after hearing the quotes that state how much he loves the club?

I'm confused. He obviously wants out.

I don’t understand this obsession posters have with Savic either. I watched the Serbia games in the WC and 3 Lazio games last season and he didn’t look anything special in any of them. My estimation of his value is closer to 10m than 100m. He didn’t look as good as Fred never mind Pogba.

A loan without an option to buy would make sense actually if Martial is not going to get a lot of minutes. Milan would be a decent place for his development. But I think he will start atleast 15-20 games for us in the season with a lot of sub appearances assuming he is not sold to any European club (unlikely now).

It would make zero sense.

1) we have limited wide options
2) he's return with one year left on his contract
3) he needs to be integrated back into the united squad and given a spot if we are looking to keep him.

Loaning him would be a stupid thing to do and place us under immense pressure to sell at a reduced cost in the summer.

It's Caf logic.

Sell Pogba and sign SMS.

We have a bloated squad in central defence, and that’s it I’m afraid. For the positions Martial plays in, we can’t afford to lose anyone without replacing them. Yes, we just play one striker but as a front 3 we have Sanchez, Mata, Lingard, Lukaku, Rashford and Martial to realistically choose from. That’s 6 players for 3 positions over the course of an entire season. Compare that to City and we could actually use further backup.

The only place we maybe are too bloated is CBs- but even there they all seem to be injured a lot of the time. Maybe why it was a priority position for Jose.

So you saw all of 6!!! games of him. Obviously that makes you an authority on him

I never said that did I? You think the posters here advocating we sell Pogba and spunk 100m on Savic have seen more? Dream on

Oh no, they're every bit as ridiculous, i agree

I do struggle to think of a better CM/AM who might available in January/Next Summer though. If you really can't keep Pogba...

You’d struggle? I wouldn’t.

Working down a list of experienced CMs I would check the availability of Thiago, Pjianic, Rakitic (if Pogba goes to Barca), Rabiot. I would also monitor the development of Neves (of Wolves) if he has a breakthrough season in the EPL, Kovacic (since he’s only a loan with no option to buy and wants out of Real) and also our Pereira.

These are all players I would consider way ahead of spunking 100m on Savic

I am agree with the CB part, but in some parts of the last season, those players were worthy of keeping their first 11 status. Remember Messe Lingard moments? Perhaps, apart from Mata, Sanchez, Lukaku, Rashford, Martial would be the first 3. As back-ups, I don't oppose to the younger players like Gomes and Chong.

Mourinho intends on playing him. Listen to his comments from Friday.

I’d like to think of those 2 as backups, but I’d be surprised to see it outside of the league cup.

Essentially, we shouldn’t be considering moving Martial on until we’ve identified and made significant inroads on an upgraded replacement.
