My contract expires in March 2019, so I'm going to link myself to United to get a new one.

That's a fair point, my reasoning was more on why we'd be interested. Can certainly see why he wouldn't be interested in the move though, except a last chance to play at the top end of the Premier league I suppose.
 
So I guess we send out a group text to all clubs in Europe last week with the title : CB needed desperately , must be top notch, world class, won't pay much more than 50-60 million

He's the least reliable of the lot, though, which is saying something. Smalling and Bailly are a lot better than people give them credit for and Lindelof... well honestly I haven't seen him play enough to know. I agree - I'd happily ship out Rojo, but the only major draw backs of the others is their injury record. It would be nice to have a top ball-playing CB, but I'm interested in seeing how Lindelof develops. Of course, having someone like Alderweireld alongside him would definitely help this process, but it's not as bad a situation as people have collectively convinced themselves it is.

Could it be improved? Sure, if we got an elite defender. Do we need to panic and bring in someone for the sake of it? Absolutely not.

The only area of our squad I think might need drastic improvement are the wing-backs, other than that... I think Jose may be more confident in this squad than he lets on.
 
I fully imagine that what is going on right now is very reminiscent of the Spinners and Losers episode of The Thick of It. Frantically just trying to get anybody in.

He didn't report it because Woodward contacted him 10 mins ago to confirm it's BS. Sky Sports run with an obvious BS story, the club have briefed journos.
 
Getting mocked here at work every hour that passes by regarding transfers. Can we not just sign Toby and get on with it.
 
If Godin had any intention of leaving Atletico he would have gone long before this, and probably gone somewhere else.

Sky are pushing for ratings. They knew this was a dead duck when reporting it.
