Transfer related news. I can't believe Liverpool have now outspent us. Crazy! So much for not buying one's way to success.

The thing is, one ball playing centre-back never works because all the other teams have to do is press high against him and the keeper is forced to pass to the non-ball playing centre back more or less every time.

Yes we saw that in the Europa League final, where we left Sanchez to play the ball out of Ajax's defence. One is better than none though, and it's possible that if we get a good one it might aid in the development of Bailly/Lindelof.

Have they been hit by new FFP sanctions that I do not know of? At the moment they still seem to be pursuing targets like Bonucci and Sandro.
My understanding is that they breached FFP and are under pressure to sell. I may be wrong. But if they are trying to spend more, a big sale would help that.

Or maybe we just wind up with zero more signings.

Neymar and Mourinho lol. That only ends with Neymar being sold or Mou sacked by Christmas.

Well he has more premiership experience than those players and has played in a world cup semi final now. I totally agree though for that fee I would much rather spend probably less on the two players you mentioned or more on Khoubillay. In a dream wodl we would sign one of the two you mentioned AND Khoubillay as Rojo, Jones, Lindelof for me just arent good enough and neither is Smalling. I would rathe spend £70/80m+ on two of those three + the fees oncoming from 3 of our avergae centre backs than spend £70-80M on MacGuire for a slight upgrade on our average centre backs
You know a bid for koubilay was already rejected at €89m?

I read the article, they're putting Pogba at 93.5M instead of 89M, Lukaku at 90M instead of 75M, Fred for 53M when he cost 47M ....

They're also saying that Coutinho was sold for 144M when it is 114M + 38M addons.

Anyways, yeah, they outspent us.

Just give them what they want and lets run; so we can buy this young promising talent for 70m or we can buy 30 Y/O Willian for 70m; I know which one I'd rather do.

It'd be the heist of the century. Go Woody Go!

I agree, Sanchez is just in everyone's space on the left as he doesn't hold his line, play him and Lukaku as a front 2 in that system and both will benefit I think.

I agree with this. I just think we would need a left footed LWB who will play wide.

Does he play on the right? Is he good enough? If so... sign.

Any where across the front 3 I think. Whoscored puts most of his games as on the right though, which fits us well. Straight swap with Martial?

Gareth Bale is fired up for the new season at Real Madrid after productive talks with new boss Julen Lopetegui

Woodward foiled again by a player who gives no indication of wanting to join United suddenly deciding not to join United

Juventus is on -208m NET spend this summer. I'm sure at last two of Sandro, Rugani, Pjanic and Iguain will leave. Problem is they overpriced all of them!
Rugani and Iguain are 35m thay ask for 50m+. Pjanic is 60m they ask for 80-100.

Their position will be weaker in the end of this transfer window so these players will leave for realistic prices since Juve must sell. I just can't imagine they end this transfer window with so big NET spending.
It's not their style.

Wow, this was news about two weeks ago. The Mirror recycling a story to get some clicks. Who'd have known, right?

It's a case of desperation* I suppose. Didn't help we had a shortened transfer window for the first time on the same year as the World Cup.

*How desperate are we? Watching that pass from Bonnuci yesterday made me wonder, when's the last time one of our CBs played such a simple albeit effective ball? Is it a confidence thing? Or just ingrained. In any case, with the season fast approaching I'd say it's worth it to pay double for that. We may not win the league, but we'd at least look less impotent

Maybe the manager doesn't want our CBs trying longer passes like that? Matic is the guy he bought in and he always comes short to take the ball off the defence. But if you want attempted long passes from CB, Lindelof was trying them for Sweden
