If Jose is angry for whatever reason, thats pretty much the final nail in the coffin for Tony and a good reason to sell him. It is quite clearly a brief from someone in our camp. Now the more reliable journos are reporting it and while i think Jose is happy to let him go, the club is reluctant. That can change soon. Would be a big surprise for me if he would be a United player come September.

It would have been weird if they hadn't let him leave for it...

Hirst shit stirring again.
I would agree that Martial probably has permission. Just like our defenders had permission to sit on the sidelines when they declared themselves injured a few months ago. But that doesn't mean that Jose will be fully on board with it.

It's not about what right or permissable, it's about attitude as far as Mourinho is concerned. He likes his players to be willing to run through brick walls for him.

If there was a sit down chat between Martial and his manager at the start of the Summer to discuss last chances and an improvement in attitude, this episode won't reflect well on the player - no matter what the rights and wrongs of the situation may be.

That's a load of bollocks.

Any boss, in any job, who takes issue with someone who'd rather being there for the birth of their child, than at work is a complete feckwit, (and I don't think Mourinho is).

This is opportunistic press bollocks.

I appreciate his positive aspects, but I'm not convinced he is the quickest or the best reader of the game or tackler. I think he'd be found out in regular high quality games, e.g. including the Champions League and whilst he might be less error prone than Jones, would he be as quick to the tackle as Smalling or Jones.

I've not see the leadership aspect either.

I have no problem him coming, but only if we somehow get the right price for what we have, otherwise it will seem like a very over priced upgrade when other areas are glaring in need, such as RW.

I'm actually less concerned about LB and RB as I think we are just riding out one more year on each. Young has been on reasonable form enough to be worthy of another season in the mix. The gamble as ever is does Shaw do enough to cover the rest of the mix and ideally to become the long term staple.

On RB I think we have Dalot to replace Valencia so similar situation. The key here is can be step up quick enough. Otherwise we'll need another stop gap at some point, so say a 29 year old for the right price.
Ok but unless you watch Leicester pretty much every week like me then you saying you haven't seen those things is like a Martian coming down here and saying he can't see air.

Clearly it's a briefing from whoever in the United camp. It's all speculation of course but the way I read it, is that Martial might of left without going through the proper channels and didn't make it clear that he's not coming back to America. Couple this with a Mourinho whose already on the war path about not having all his players and you see the ingredients for a clash.

So I'm going to have a wild punt and guess that our transfer strategy for the next two weeks will be...Sell Rojo and bring in a new CB (probably Maguire) and sell Martial and bring in a new RW (Can't see Chelsea selling to us if they didn't sell to Barca so who knows)

"I'm in the comfortable position of being 30 years old. If my career as a coach continues to a certain point, it's possible that further down the line I'll get another opportunity to manage an elite team. It wouldn't have been the best decision for my family to have moved abroad now either,"

He was one of the few names I was thinking of regarding a possible Mourinho meltdown replacement. Very sensible of him, looks like he good be a great manager but is too early for him for an elite club probably

When you read crap like this, then people wonder why Jose is unhappy about appearing before the media who are blatantly posting a load of made up tosh about his opinion on his players. I'm pretty sure he's not mentioned or been asked about Martial going home as yet...

I highly doubt Jose for all his faults, wouldn't let Martial leave to see his own kid's birth.

Though if Martial didn't tell anyone and just left, that's silly from him.

Guess we'll find out what really happened soon.

Isn't he returning home for the birth of his kid?

That’s all that’s happening. But ABU journalists love to fling shit about any of our players. Never see pool or City players getting the same kind of made up rumours from press.

You even try stopping me being there for the birth of my kid and see how that goes.

Press doing the usual.

Well we have to wait and see for the post match conference. Only if the media have any balls to ask if this is true.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. If Jose is angry it is because of the fact he has a near reserve side out in the US made worse by this situation. Its not Martials fault.

By the way is it possible to fly home from America when told your partner is in labour and still make it back in time? Suprised he won’t miss it still.

didn't we have players miss regular PL games because of child birth? I'm sure we had someone recently? It's the idea of him not returning on the tour that seems to be the problem I imagine.

Jose said he knew 3 days ago and that permission was given and that he understands why someone would want to be there.

Case closed.

The people who believe that Jose is angry with Martial because he wants to see his baby born are nuts. He might be angry that he has lost another player from pre-season, on top of not having a lot of his first team players there. He might be angry that transfer business has been slow, that the transfer window is shutting early, so even less time to work in a World Cup year. Martial going away for the birth, no. Now if Martial has not informed the club until last minute that he isn't coming back to the US, then I too would be a bit miffed.

They tried to say that he was home to negotiate a transfer yesterday, they are desperate for transfer stories and have to make them up because we have very few leaks the last 2 summer's
