I think he already addressed it when Mourinho brought that quote up after VVD signed and Klopp brushed it off with something like "Oh, well it's different now..", it was only a year not a decade FFS!
The hypocrisy is in the comment "I wouldn't even spend big money even if I could". That's what makes it worse and doesn't justify his "it's different now" comment.

Nobody is denying this. That’s not what anyone is having a go about. It’s his comments about other clubs spending record fees and how he’d quit if football got that way for him.
So Klopp can keep signing players , beat transfer records and get away with the reply "I don't know" for title challenge. Mourinho would get blasted for similar response if he had said the same thing. Why is this fecker given such as free run at the press? It's infuriating.
City and Liverpool are given free positive publicity all the time. Being under United shadow for decades has had their fans in the press forced to praise United and now that these clubs are relevant they're free to gush about them positively regardless of how hypocritical the clubs are. Not to mention City literally buys positive publicity through favors among the press. I think when those Barca guys took over they made it a priority to keep the press on their side. Klopp getting such a free pass is embarrassing though since he has literally said/done the same things as Mourinho but he isn't turned into a villain. I'm half convinced the press thinks that he could snap at any moment if they write mean things.

I think so too. City have a bunch of shills working overtime whereas Liverpool have become lovable losers (not to me I hate them) and Klopp's "pashun" and "personality" are apparently good for the league so they don't want to say bad things. Jose has thick skin and despite getting obsessive and unjust criticism came back to England and then stayed in England and he seems to get a rise out of it too.

Not necessarily true. United has already been painted in bad light as earliest as I start to follow football. So not even a decade since SAF's first PL triumph. The media rooted for Blackburn, Newcastle, Arsenal, Leeds, (Mourinho's & Ancelotti's) Chelsea.... Basically ABU in every sense of the word. SAF had plenty war with the media during his reign.
A post SAF weakened United and Mourinho made it easier target.

Solid depth. Will fit good in their system as they just need him to do a job defensively while their wingers bomb forward. I also think he can improve himself training with and learning from the likes of Chiellini, Barzagli etc
