Quite how we agree to sell Darmian to Juve while missing out/not striking a deal for Sandro is far beyond my comprehension.
Maybe it will be done as a second, independent deal
I agree the lack of reports / rumors about it is a bit worrying but Castles have been pretty confident about it. Maybe we have already agreed terms with Sandro and we're just waiting to shift out Blind and Darmian before bidding for him
Hopefully we will be hearing more about this soon and I fully expect us to have enquired for Sandro

I wonder whether we're stalling on a LB in order to see if Shaw impresses in pre-season. If not, we could well make a move late in the window.

Young is leaving at the end of next season, he won't have legs to play for us anymore, he's 33.

Castles hasn't been confident about it. He said United agreed terms with Sandro a while ago without much difficulty (he's not on a big salary there), but we were unable to agree a deal with Juve due to being miles apart on valuations (they want €60m). Doesn't sound all that promising.

But if Shaw impresses, he becomes first-choice and that changes United's search for another LB - because then you're looking for an understudy and long-term prospect, not a ready-made starter.

If we sign Sandro, then Shaw leaves for nothing next season. He's clearly not inclined to leave in this window, so he does hold some of the cards.

Gotcha, maybe Bayern are planning on a back 3 with him as RCB, combine both aspects?

Could be. I think, this is their best line-up:

Neuer

Boateng/Pavard - Süle - Hummels

Kimmich - Javi Martinez - Thiago - Alaba

James

Müller - Lewandowski

Well out of that 60,we have got 16 million for Blind and maybe 12 for Darmian. Plus 8-9 for Johnstone. That's almost 37 mill.
If money was the issue, we have enough money now to bid 50+10 in add ons which is a pretty good offer

But I don't know why we wouldn't have the money, we have spent what 67 million on 2 players and have sold two for 21 million. We are about to sell Darmian for 10-12 million pounds which takes the net spend to about 35 million. So going by the last few years, we must have about 110 million left to spend, unless we are penny pinching.
If we are, it's probably the worst year to as I see another long transition if Jose is sacked

Its too soon to say that this is one of the worst summer windows for muppets?
Never mind the muppets - providing we don’t sign anyone, everyone should panic. We clearly have glaring holes in our squad and we barely addressed them. Not to mention Liverpool have made some excellent signings. Happy with Fred & Dalot but let's be honest, this won't make much of a difference. RW & LB is an absolute must this summer. We'll be fighting for top 4 with this current squad, never mind the title. Bear in mind as well half our team is fecked tired from the world cup and Dalot & Fred are injured so won't exactly have much of an opportunity to settle down before the season starts.

Also - Martial & Pogba? What's happening there? If these 2 leave, where does that leave us then?

The "ITKs" apparently have absolutely no clue what we or our players are up to. You guys should chill because there is no way in hell Pogba leaves. It's ridiculous he has to score a goal and tell you so himself every few games just to shut these liars up. And even if it wasn't for that, can't imagine any club would be able to splash 150M and above or so on him right now.

I doubt it's about having or not having the money but more about not willing to overpay for a player otherwise we will continually have to do it.

Pjanic + Costa + Alex Sandro + Dybala + 100% ownership of Juve Stadium with 100 mil loan fee for Juve per year (breaking contract means 100% penalty fee from initial loan fee) + 50% ownership of FIAT. In other words feck off you twats bam bim bum.

I can live with this proposal

Pogba is on 290kpw and would cost Juventus 150-200m. Y'all think they would even contemplate a signing like that when their net spend is already 200m for the window. On top of that they just signed Emre Can and put him on the second tier of the highest paid players in Italy after paying him 13m in signing on fees. They've got more dead wood (Khedira, Sturaro, Marchisio, Benatia, Cuadrado, Madnzukic, Di Sciglio) than United and also have players like Bentancur waiting for a turn. That's besides the fact that Pjanic won't be sold this window.

Imagine spending 200m on player transfer fees alone and handing wage rises to players like Dybala and also shattering the league wage record for Ronaldo and then having to do it for a bigger fee for Paul Pogba? When they already have so much clutter in the midfield? If there is truth to the rumors about Higuain and Rugani, they need a replacement striker and need to add some youth into that back line first.
They are highly highly unlikely to sign a big name midfielder for a deal on the scale of Pogba's this summer or the next.

All the rumors linking Pjanic to City and Barca are also bs. The man plays Modric's role at Juve. While Jorginho was supposed to be the deep midfielder that City would transition from Fernandinho to. Makes no sense for them (or Barca) to spend 90m on a guy who doesn't even play the position they want.

Haha, is that weird? It is I think. Fekir was a bit-part player at best in the World Cup and why don't all 23 players get the same treatment?!

Also read some tweets saying Alisson was our last summer transfer.
Yeah same but I don’t have as much faith in Pearce & co any more. It was only a few days ago that they were saying that Danny Ward was being given a go as our no. 1.

That's a pretty strong looking team, and they'll have Gnabry back as well, won't they? Plus of course Goretzka.

You have to remember what we have though. De Gea, Bailly, Pogba, Fred (and to a lesser extent, Matic), Martial, Rashford, Lukaku, Sanchez is a pretty strong spine in comparison to any of our competitors. For one reason or another, they haven't shown it in a Utd shirt as yet, but Pogba and Lukaku's World Cup performances seem to indicate a massive sea change is in the offing - akin to Ronnie's in 2006 - and if Sanchez can get out of the funk that he was in last season, then I'd wager that our attack is up there with City's.

Also, the backroom changes should also mean a positive change with Jose freshening up his approach for the first time in his career. Fergie was a master at it and it was the number one reason why he was so successful. Here's hoping that Jose follows suit.

I have my concerns like the rest of us, but I'm willing to give Jose a chance to see what he can do.

You just listed 5 starters from one of the strongest teams in Europe last season as deadwood. You’re only right about Sturaro. And Benatia, Mandzukic and Cuadrado could all be well deserved starters next season, as they certainly would be for United.

Telegraph reporting the same too
How about Sterling for our RW? Yes, I know City won't sell to us and that Sterling is a poor finisher and can be inconsistent, but in a hypothetical scenario where he is available, would he be good for us?
He scored 20 goals last year (many of them were last minute goals which won City many points), he's English, still youngish (23) and can improve.
Plus he's a United fan.

Wouldn't want him here. Too frustrating to watch.
