I’m not really fussed about other teams transfer dealings. I feel we are taking a different rout by identifying players who can be the next big thing like Dalot. Ribalta has been accredited with picking up players like Dybala for peanuts and I believe this is what’s going on at United. a few decent additions in key areas like RB & CB and we will be absolutely fine without breaking the bank. I feel confident and excited for the new season.

It's not that people can't have the view that the vermin are going to challenge for the title. It's the way that this view nearly always gets espoused with the 'and united will struggle to finish top 4' stuff.

Some of our fans would likely be of the view that they'll never be dry again after getting caught out in a heavy rain storm. It's neuroticism dialled up to 11

A few more Dalot like signings would honestly do me, and least it would show something, that we're planning and look forward.

People should stop panicking.
We bought Fred, Dalot (and Grant). The first two are crucial players for crucial positions. And don't forget we got Sanchez in January when our rivals hardly made any significant purchase. I personally see Sanchez as a new buy this summer who only came in early in January to 'adapt'. He was never going to come in mid-season and set OT alight. So for me, we have Fred, Sanchez, Dalot and Grant.
We have also sold Blind and are about to sell Darmien.

I understand the concern some are expressing but what if Pogba and Lindelof return as new man, finally ready to realize their potentials? What if Jose can get much more out of the players we already have? What if, right now, negotiations are at advanced stages for important new signings we don't yet know about? What if one or two of the academy lads break into the squad and have a fabulous season? etc. A thousand what ifs. Let's relax and watch how things unfold.

No middle ground with Malcom, he'll either flop badly, or Everton will sell him on for a massive sum in a year or two.

I can see us going for him if he's doing so well at Everton, we need RW unless Chong had breakthrough next season. We have a really good relationship with Everton.

Dybala was 30-40m a few years ago, hardly peanuts.

Liverpool are worrying now. Addressed all their problem positions.

Spine of their team looks extremely strong; Alisson, Van Dijk, Fabinho, Keita, Firmino.

Looking at those names I agree it’s a strong spine, but hardly a formidable one. Compare that to our spine: DDG, Bailey, Fred, Matic, Pogba, Lukaku and I feel we have a stronger spine but again that’s my opinion.

I don't understand what's taking so long for us to address our weaknesses. We still need a RW, CB and LB at minimum.

Did you know we bough a much needed cm? Also, 3 more week left to the star of the season and closure of the transfer market. Stop the drama.

We needed a RB, a LB, a RW, a CM and possibly a backup striker, not to mention Jose's apparent interest in a CB.

Thus far, we have 1 of those things because Dalot is not going to come straight into the team, in my opinion.

We lost the title by almost TWENTY POINTS last season.....did you know that? Twenty. Not two. It wasn't even a title race. We need to seriously close that gap and Fred and a backup RB are not doing that.

I'm just curious as to why we really need a new CB. Our defensive record has been one of the best in the league for 3 years now. Is it because of the way we fail to play out from the back?

You'll be laughing on the other side of your grill by Xmas at this rate, lad.
the meltdowns and drama in July are hilarious no matter how we do this season with people like you spouting shite like "we need x,y, and z" like you know any better than the manager.

It isn't pressing but needed. Our CBs are prone to curious lapses especially in the 2nd half of the season which costs us points.

And yes, some passing ability would be nice. Smalling is terrified of the ball and Rojo just punts long. Bailly and Jones are neither here nor there. Lindelof is the only one somewhat ok at it but he is again inconsistent.

Aah Meltdown 2.0 of the summer.
Remember the first one when Pool signed Fabinho? We were so young back then.
Not they have signed a good keeper who could be potentially great and it's time for another meltdown.
I predict a few more meltdowns beofe the window shuts.
But fair fecks to pool, if they mange to sign Fekir too, I think they would be the #1 challengers to city's dominance

Pretty much the below what Kapardin mentions, I do feel we need an experienced leader at the back and someone that can bring the ball into midfield. At the moment our transition from defence to midfield leaves a lot to be desired.

I agree - Jones is the worst of the lot for me. Mistake after mistake and always injured, he can't be trusted to go the full season without being injured.

I sometimes wonder if Mourinho is trolling us with some of his selections. We have no right winger meanwhile Everton are signing Malcom, City have signed Mahrez as a spare part, West Ham signed two of them...
Maybe he's giving Chong a chance to stake a claim? I'm sure Chong will have trained with the first team for a while during last season and impressed. Maybe this and with the u23s being relegated, a squad role would be best for Chong?

I hope so, but I fully expect to see Mata (a superb player in his correct position) being shoe horned into RW.

That is the polar opposite of what Conte was saying last season. Seems to fit with how they do things. Would be funny if they signed more average English players like last season :D

Don't forget Liverpool getting Shaqiri as probably a squad player on top of Salah.

Yes, it's about time they bridge their academy with their first team. Did he promote youngsters at Napoli?
I don’t think so. I think he barely rotate(d) his squad whilst at Napoli.
