I'm surprised Real are going after Courtois instead of Allison to be honest. Maybe Courtois will look better at Real, but I think he's pretty mistake prone and their fans will be quick to turn on him. Personally hope he does great there though, keeps them away from De Gea.

I am confused that everyone has been saying Alison is very good and one of best goalkeepers in UCL, he is goalkeepers that conceded the most goal in UCL, 5 to Liverpool in first legs, 4 to Barca in first legs, 3 to Chelsea and have one of worst clean sheet ratio in UCL, he is overrated goalkeepers. I'd rather Liverpool spending 70m on Alison than the likes of Fekir

Courtois for that amount is an amazing deal. Better that than paying a lot more for someone else who could be better or not.

I have a Chelsea fan as a friend who swears Courtois is shit (well massively overrated), I guess you guys watch him more than we do

Not at all, he is a quality keeper and at the time he was at Atletico he was unreal.

What goes under the radar is just how well he claims the ball and controls his area, initially his shot stopping was immense.

I do feel he's a bit overrated as in the last 3 years or so there is very very few games that you could think of where he was the difference between us winning or losing and at times he has gone through spells where he hasn't looked that great.

Overall his world cup performances show he is a world class keeper, just a lot of Chelsea fans don't always feel we've seen that form.

Stop saying it was last year when it was in 2016 for starters. Secondly, it was a comparison made to point out that he's very good just not world class, just like Lukaku. That's where it stops, stop trying to be pedantic for the sake of it.

Willian cost €14m, Douglas Costa €8m as well. A transfer fee doesn't reflect a player's potential or abilities.

He's Belgium's all time record goalscorer at 25 and averages 20+ goals a season in the PL. He's achieved much more than Alisson surely you can accept that?

Comparing Lukaku and Alisson is ridiculous anyway but surprisingly it was a Liverpool fan who came up with that gem.

I'm quite confident the vast majority of Liverpool fans here know very little about Alisson. I'm certain of it.

Exactly but apparently these stats don't count!

He definitely does not average 20+ goals a season in the PL given hes only done that once.
Anyway both players are very good players but not world class, however are seen to have the potential which I think was the point.

A Tier 1 for Real Madrid news:
Real Madrid are not expected to make any ‘galactico’ signing as the transfer prices are exorbitant & will cost around €400M. They will bet on young talents like Asensio and Vinicius as the club doesn’t want to break the salary limits. (translation from reddit)

@Kapardin... My point exactly.

Transfers started for real this week now. I like how Liverpool is actively doing business. At the very least there's some noise.

In contrast at Spurs it's dead quiet. I think they will not sign anyone.

Chelsea is in a bit of turmoil atm. Secretly hoping Hazard and Kante will leave. Courtois as well...

Arsenal is the dark horse. Potentially they can out of the gates flying. Depending how well Emery has managed to get his ideas across and team has gelled.

What has been very peculiar is that United has not made big splashes at full backs. There were a lot of noise before the WC about Sandro et all but now nothing.

City needs do nothing. They spent very big to get the squad they have and can sign one or two real quality ones if they are at the right place and the price.

There is maybe a 1% percent chance Kante leaves and probably 5% Hazard leaves.

Tibo will likely go however.

Surprised that Madrid can't go for the likes of Hazard. Thought they were loaded.

It would be so typical for them to sign Pjanic after everyone laughed at them missing out on Fred and Jorginho

I think it’s more typical (and incredibly hypercritical) that City try to make out they are trying to curb their spending then find an alternative that’s more expensive to their first target.

Chelsea will rush to rival us for Allison now. If we lose out again because we’re not willing to pay up it’ll be so frustrating.

Saw that this morning. Apparently, they don't have money.

There is no point whatsoever comparing Centre forward and a goalkeeper

What will City benfit of signing Pjanic while they have KDB and Silva starting with B.Silva and Gundogan on the bench ? No one say it's to replace the aging David Silva because guess what, his replacement was supposed to be the 50m B.Silva.

To stop us signing him? Like with Mahrez?

Martinez looks like the guy from Sin City.

200

Shocking that Courtois would go as cheaply as mooted. Maybe it's a discount so that they won't go for Hazard?

Jesus Christ he wasn't. Well not in the way you seem to think. Lukaku is a very good striker but not top bracket, Alisson is a very good keeper but not top bracket. Both players have the potential to become top bracket in their positions. That's it. How hard can it be to understand that?

Everyone wants to play for Lord Pep and are willing to do it for peanuts and the other clubs will basically give them their players because it's the right thing to do.

What has Alisson done to make you think he has the potential to become top bracket in his position ahead of DDG Neuer Oblak etc?

Lukaku is Belgium's all time record goalscorer and has over 100 PL goals at 25. What's Alissons claim to fame? Sharing his last name with a tennis legend?

Scrolling through the "lets debate if Alison is any good" for a few pages, forgot I was on the transfer tweets page for a while.

Is he worth 62m - no.
is he better than anything Liverpool have/likely to get - yes.
Will he make Liverpool better - yes
Are Liverpool better than us - no
Can they be - yes

Move on people................
