Remember Kevin Großkreutz? World Cup Winner 2014 with Germany, won the Bundesliga two times with Klopps Dortmund. Now he is joining third league club Uerdingen.

I have a feeling we have made contact with Madrid for Ronaldo that's why they have planted the story about Rashford to Madrid just to unsettle/haggle, otherwise Rashford to Madrid doesn't make sense.
Even though Ronaldo is 33, he is super-human and his commitment and the way he looks after himself means he at least has a 2 to 3 year advantage over a normal player his age. We could get very good 2 years out of him and after which we may get another 40M or so if he goes to USA. So our net investment (apart form wages) would be about 50 to 60 M for 2 years. If he adds a spark to our play and scores 25 or so each year (not unlikely) then that's very much going to pay for itself (not including the marketing benefit and shirt sales etc.).

"Rashford still under Madrid radar".The article says that Madrid like him a lot, have been following for more than 2 years and has very good reports.
Later they talk about his lack of minutes, the presence of Alexis, etc

Is being on Madrid's bench really much better right now for him?

Can't see there being anything in this.

Couple of things:

A) I really doubt we'd give Ronaldo a contract more than 2/3 years, so I can't see him commanding a £40 million transfer 2 years down the line.
B) The benefit of signing a superstar who sells lots of shirts has practically no impact on the clubs revenue. As far as I'm aware, it is a fixed fee.

Regardless of that though, I'd still take Ronaldo back for the simple fact that he is still a good player who is guaranteed goals.

As for point A, I agree it is a risk. Yes the initial contract may be 2 to 3 years but if he performs I am sure we will be doing a new contract if solely to protect the residual value. Even if we do not get anything by selling him in the end, for me a price of about 100M is still not too much because what we are getting is a proven PL player who will easily boost our attack. For me, he is a better bet than a Sanchez or Bale at that price. Besides we are not getting linked to any players even close to his calibre so we are not excatly spoilt for choices in terms of proven quality players.

As for point B, yes it may be a fixed fee however when we negotiate for our next sponsorship it will matter what stars we have and how much shirt sales we command. I am sure a club like united still tracks the marketing side of things like shirt sales etc. to create the right pitch for our next 'coffee' and 'airlines' partner etc. Besides that it will be nice boost for our existing sponsors who are likely not happy, having paid top fee, with our lack of success lately.

You gotta be aware of Inda (OkDiario) news context. He's basically a "leak" journalist, he just spreads filtrations that come to him. He has close ties to Florentino and the rest of Real Madrid less known executives. Knowing this, I'd split his news in two types:

1) Those news which come straightly from Florentino -which are usually confirmed at the same time by Pedrerol, another of Florentino's favourite unofficial journalist spokespersons-.
2) Those which come from minor executives or directors around.

The Rashford one is clearly among the second ones imo. Sure someone told him "We keep an eye on Rashford" and he made news -with a base, indeed- out of it. But the same they follow dozens of young prospects. I usually rely way more on Pedrerol when it comes to Real Madrid news, he only says whatever Florentino wants him to say, he doesn't care about minor executives leaks.

Lots of chatter Spurs have made a €50m bid for Christian Pulisic. However, it appears Kicker is the sole source. No clue if they're reliable.

Thumbs up.

I like to read posts by football fans with a keen business mind. Most fans forget that football is big business. And big business is about winning products and brands. And of course, football brands don't get bigger than Cristiano Ronaldo. Yes, even at 33.
As important as his cost is. The real question is: how much money or 'in-kind' can United make from the Cristiano Ronaldo brand? I have said it before, if Ed crunches the numbers and sees the gain in getting Ronaldo, then from a purely football sense, you don't turn the chance of getting such a player down. And yes, even at 33.

please be us please be us please be us.
This guy is the new Kante. Better buy now than in 1 or two years when Matic is finished.

Ousmane Dembélé (Barcelona)
Moussa Dembélé (Spurs)
Moussa Dembélé (Celtic)

:D

Quagmire Dembélé been keeping himself busy. Giggity.

We’d want to crack on with our transfer business. We are far from ready. 3 weeks left?
Think we have got a few deals already tied up or will have a few all done by the time the WC ends , or that's my expectation

Juventus has a total agreement with Cristiano Ronaldo: 30 million for 4 years. The green light from Florentino Perez is expected to close the operation.

By the way Agresti is super reliable for Juve news so this is definitely happening.

100mil euros and 4 year contract on 30 mil per season for 33y old player and biggest primadonna in football. Madness.
But i still expect that he stays. He will get new contract and say how mqdrid is his home, etc...

Why did you have to include primadonna? What does it mean in the big picture here? I am sure the right word would be «winner» in terms of Ronaldo. Three CL’s in a row?

he's one of the best players ever, and is still top 2 currently. not madness at all considering his level of fitness and the financial landscape of football right now

Ronaldo would help Italian football a whole lot, as its current reputation is being rather boring and lacklustre. Ronaldo would turn heads and make people around Europe watch the games on TV again.

Has Di Marzio said anything about this CR7 to Juve business?
Strange that such a big deal is going down and he hasn't reported on it
