Jorginho is a good player, interesting what will that mean for B.Silva though. Joined them to set on the bench on hope he'll take over David Silva just to find them signing Jorginho. Not to count Gundogan as well.

How does signing a defensive midfielder have any impact on a player that’s predominantly played on the wing? David Silva and Gundogan are also central midfielders. Jorginho is competing with Fernandinho.

Because Fernadinho is so crucial for them he's not going to set on the bench. He's a key role to how they were attacking that freely up top.

Juve are running out of CBs. Sold Bonucci, Barzagli is knocking on the door of the geriatric ward and Chiellini not far behind, and now they're selling their brightest prospect for a pittance?

There is a problem with the 25 men list and a few new entries to accommodate, so basically it is the weakest links out. Rugani? Go figure!

Nainggolan has had big clubs chasing him for years but always talked about he loved Roma and wanted to stay there as long as possible and now he's joining a not very good Inter. Seems weird.

He has lifestyle issues apparently - drinking and smoking. Top clubs don't want the hassle it seems.

That doesn’t mean Jorginho is going to play elsewhere. Fernandinho is 33 years old, he’s at the age where his form could drop off a cliff at any point. He’s the long term replacement and will be phased into the team like Sane and Bernardo have been.

Jorginho also now offers City something different and is a much more natural Pep DM than Fernandinho. He’s not being bought to play anywhere else.

So they're paying 50m for a player to play a rotational role for a season ?

Every player on the City side, bar Ederson and prehaps KDB is a rotational player. Pep rotates hugely game to game. Fernandinho has been crucial to City simply because they haven’t had a quality option to rotate with for two seasons. I’m sure Jorginho backs himself to make the spot his own as well, given his competition is a 33 year old.

Deep squads is what wins you titles. City are plugging the holes in their squad.

Well, Ok, I rate Jorginho and think he'll be a good player for them anyway.

Lol, Lewa can't escape.
Yeah that seems to be the case. Don't think we're in for him. Really don't think he or Lukaku would be okay with being a backup, so unless we start playing with 2 strikers up front this isn't going to happen.

Also, Bayern would probably want half the world for him

Di Marzio must have a Sherlock Holmes type homeless network where in he has the streets working for him

Ajax has an agreement with Tadic. They will pay Southampton €17million

I admit it's very strange to see that as a step down, but that's how I see it as. I rate him.
Feel like him going to the Dutch league is a bit of a downgrade when he's performing so well in the PL.

Tell ya what though, If they want Blind like reported, I wouldn't actually mind buying De Ligt, leaving him there for a year, with Blind part of the package, pay the rest next year and bring in an accomplished defender this year.

All our CBs right now have questions marks.
Bailly: Injuries
Jones: Injuries
Rojo: Whens his next red card
Smalling: Ability on the ball
Lindelof: Can he improve on his first season

Wouldn't mind getting Toby in, get a partner for him, see who doesn't work out, and get De Ligt in next year
So much sense this makes (yoda voice)

He is a flashy player with some quality here and there but inconsistent. He is nearly 30 y/o with Southampton is doing worst in years. To join Ajax and pushed for some glory & a chance in CL/EL is better at this stage of his career.

Roma are pushing him out the door. Inter the only club really interested, plus Spalletti is there. Santon finally useful!
I didn't think they'd get him as cheap as that, pretty good bit of business, he suits a footballig side.
Guess the bonuses must be very easy to trigger

To hell with Boateng and Alderweireld. Just buy De Ligt. Far more long term upside than the others

We have long term with Bailly and Lindelof... get some world class experience in there while they get a grip.

You just know if we sign De Ligt that come one poor game the caf is calling for him to be sold.

They are after De Li

Not really. If he has one bad game in 5, nobody would. Lindelöf unfortunately has one good game in 5, so of course he is not up to the task.

This transfer window so far isn't getting my muppet juices flowing at all to be honest.

Grade: D

Rabiot is quite good, isn't he? I guess it's unrealistic with the signing of Fred.
Why?
He is a DM, will be a free agent next year and will be able to take over from Matic in a season or two

the last scramble between the end of the world cup and the transfer window closing early will be glorious though.

If anything, I thought Fred was the more defensive minded of the two, with Fred being a more accomplished DM and Rabiot being a more accomplished CM?

Anyway, I'm all for signing Rabiot! Young talent, who's also tall.
