De Gea will sign a new contract. This talk will bump his wages up.

Using Madrid to get a new deal at United. Not that I mind.. he deserves it all.

Definitely a transfer tweet.
While not a player transfer, it is regarding a manager «transfer». Also, this affects us since RM are linked with DDG, and we are linked with Bale/CR.
I´m sorry of you were offended by the tweet, but i still feel it was justified.

Calm your tits.
We've done well to sign a RB(who can play LB as well) and a CM. LB, RW left next. With this being the World Cup year, it would take a bit more time to settle stuff. Plenty of time left. So no worries.
I'm pretty calm about our signings, think we've done a decent job and understand that players that we're gonna sign are gonna come after the World Cup. Just wondering if that's why it's so quiet around us.

The thing I'm a bit "worried" about is the fact that it doesn't seem like we're gonna sell anyone else except Darmian. But as has been said several times, we won't sell anyone who doesn't want to get sold it seems.

Not sure Valencia at £17m can be described as dross. He’s been a fantastic buy.
Laughable really calling Valencia dross. This is the guy who chose United over Real, showed an incredible attitude to not only recover from a horrific injury but to then cement the RB spot over a young and talented Rafael. Never once has he complained about his pay, coasted through games or spat his dummy out, he's the exact type of player you need around.

Just because he's on the wane a little and his crossing isn't the best, people let the past few seasons cloud their judgement on Valencia, he's been solid defensively and not many can outpace or knock him off the ball.

That’s why he’s been one of my favourite players as well. No way can anyone call him a dross buy.

Hear, hear.

Valencia has been a good player but no more. I've never seen a player hit the first man so much. If I was a forward and Valencia was bombing forward? Valencia would either try and smash the ball or 9/10 hit the first defender. In terms of what we had and what we brought in? We went from the best to good. That wasn't good enough. If you lose a top player, you have to replace that top player and we never did. Some people take offense at a word. It's a word. In terms out assists/goals....we lost a great player and brought in a capable one. However, in an attacking team - especially when you rely more and more on full back for width, Valencia rarely produces. We have failed wingers in young and Valencia as full backs and that says a lot. I don't question the players heart or if they are 'good' people. If hitting the first man was a skill, he would be up their with Ronaldo and Messi...combined. The problem is we don't have any wingers and this flaw is highlighted more. We are an offensive team and a full back isn't a defender in a team that wants to attack, they are KEY to opening up tight defences and the lac of quality speaks for itself. We can dominate many teams but this lack of quality (which we have got away with before) is even more highlighted.

You're right. He was about to spend a month with our star GK with Real's interest still there so it's significant yes.

Those DDG quotes sound a lot like we're in for a saga this summer. If we sell him it's Oblak or bust for me, would be fine with Romero/Pereira/Henderson for a season and hope either of the youngsters steps up.

Well you have read different quotes to me if you are worried. What DDG said looks as though he wants to stay and win titles with us.

I do think they'll be alot of paper talk and speculation though. I do feel the press will push the whole saga again this summer. It sells and generates clicks. So, will be in for a summer with lots of speculation, regardless of any facts or anything.

Yes I know that, United sells. You only have to look at reporters mentioning a player City want, United name is always mentioned in the tweet just for clickbait.

It is getting a bit tedious. We own the player, we decide how much he will cost Real Madrid, Perez can't click his fingers and the transfer will happen. It's just not going to happen. I just hope Real sign Alisson or Courtois just so they stop rolling out the same story every summer.

They're linked with Allison and Courtois. Just because this desperate journo ambushed him doesn't mean Madrid are still interested.

Agree with everything apart from the bolded part. "isn't the best" is a huge understatement", it's atrocious. The issue is that he is on the Wane and his physical game that set him aside as a great defensive option is diminishing. So what we are starting to get left with is someone who has never been able to cross or beat the first man or give us an attacking outlet now also heading towards diminishing returns defensively.

"Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has put off signing a left back this summer to consider his main targets for next year.
Mourinho’s decision to shelve a move for a left back has bought him time to monitor the progress of Ryan Sessegnon and Kieran Tierney over the next 12 months."

Could this be the leader and experienced defender that would be a good fit while VL and EB bed in around him?
Well EB and PJ can have a bed around him at the hospital. He is too injury prone and we don't want more.

If Bayern are willing to sell a player then it has to be concerned as to why. Great defender, barely fit though and we have enough of that already

We can't go into the season with Young at LB again. Having two right footers on the left just doesn't work.

I think/hope this is bullshit to make it seem like we're not desperate for a new Left back. Which we are

People are overestimating his price, i would sell for around 120M£/130M£. Oblak's release clause is 87M£, i would trigger it right after, triggering the release clause would prevent teams from increasing their asking prices for their keepers. and we would have 40M£ for another player.

I would even trust Romero for a year or so and give him a chance. he showed loyalty in addition to the fact that we know he's a great goalkeaper. it would give us 130M£ in addition to whatever money we have for transfers this summer.

On the contrary I think you are underestimating the value De Gea has for us. He brings 15-20 points per season imo (just look at Arsenal away this season).

Ahh, how could we forget about The Keeper of the Key? His Brother's Keeper.

I reckon things could've turned out better for him had Wenger trusted him more - if he'd been given the key to the Emirates, who knows?

There's nothing of value in there.

27 too old? Has Mou been reading caf?

Agree. Although i'm certain we're selling Darmian. I'm more baffled at why the author included Sessegnon as a potential LB target.

That would make sense if (1) Mourinho was known for sticking around long-term and (2) full-backs are a glaring weakness in our team.

Do you have any stat to back this no doubt De Gea is a great keeper but him earning 20 points a season is highly unlikely and De Gea was very good in Arsenal game but he made three or four great saves at most in that game and others were highly routine ones which any top keeper should save.

So the plan is to keep Shaw another year so we can monitor Tierney and Sessegnon. And when Shaw leaves us on a free transfer then we'll make a move? Why not just fecking sell Shaw and get a fee, then just sign Tierney to compete with Young. How does it make sense to let Shaw's contract down? This clearly would be a ridiculous move, Mourinho obviously has a problem with Shaw so it's better for both him and us if we just replace him now.

Not going for a starting left back?

Welp. My honest assessment of this is that it is an awful decision.

Valencia and Young as our starting fullbacks again? Asking for trouble that is. Ideally, both would have been replaced but atelast one has to be if we want to truly compete.

Tierney doesn't want to leave Celtic this summer.

Yep, it's likely it is BS in this order: 1)This guy is just guessing/hedging his bets 2) It could be a tactic to play it cool.

It is highly unlikely this guy has some sort of inside track. Also, I refuse to believe its the second option because anyone can tell you we need one and are looking for a LB. I highly doubt agents, Directors and Managers are not savvy enough to see through it.

This feels like propaganda for not wanting to spend a large amount on a LB when we have other positions we have to fill also.

Thought he didn't want to leave at all? He was talking about becoming Celtic captain one day and staying at the club long term.
I don't know tbh, all I know is he doesn't want to leave this summer. Could be he doesn't want to leave at all.
