No they dont, he is legitimately one of the better ones.

I think you've somewhat missed my point.

It's not the I'm quibbling with Goss being one of the better ones, I'm sure he is, but that he ever stood a realistic chance of being a Carrick replacement. There's myriad examples of players sticking their head out above the parapet a little at youth level, and therefore being hyped as realistic options for the first team.

I appreciate that it is not deliberate. People want to see the players they like at youth level go on to succeed in the first team, and thats half of the fun of youth football. Indeed, it is very hard to judge how far players can go if they stand out at that level, and that most of them go on to have good careers in the upper half of the Championship or the Premier League, but it doesn't change the fact that he could be another in a long line of players tipped to make it who, in reality, probably weren't quite good enough to start with.

Hard to believe Valencia was getting about three times less per week than Rooney. Deserved new deal to the fullest extent.

Only says more good about the player.
No I think it's more about the way United have given contract extensions in recent years. They have given an extension of say 3 years (plus 1 year that they have the option of extending depending on the players performance). It's the same case with what happened with Fellaini last week. But yes, Valencia has been one of our top performers this season.

Well that contract extention model sucks a bit. He's basically on Darmian's & Fellaini's salary level while Ashley Young surpass him and getting closer to Mata & Mickey's amount.

Hopefully in few years the club will get it more right.

Yep he's a good player but not sure about United class but s better left back than Darmain and Blind.

Hmm impressive end product for such a young LB. As you say, attacking wise better than Darmian and Blind, and more assists and better crossing than Shaw. Very fast and godd recovery tackles, seems a good prospect. Glad we are scouting left backs.

I think it's a pretty decent model tbh. It means that the club have the option to re-evaluate whether to give another year to a player or not, as a players performance may well change in the 3/4 years after signing an extension.

Yup. So far we're not losing any great players due to contract running out so indeed, it's doing it's job and shows more who's loyal and got desire to make it to the end with United.

Traore was outstanding and almost unstoppable when he got on the ball against us a few weeks back. Could be a player Conte feels he can develop into a top winger/wingback.

I was quite impressed with him in the appearances in the cups. Lord knows Everton need some CB options under 33 years old.
When he sees Kolarov start a lot of games at CB, he probably figures there's a better route to the first team at Everton. City will just end up spending another £50M in the summer.
