Literally all of top 6 bar Spurs and Arsenal linked with Monaco players... No way Fabinho, Mendy, Silva, and Bakayoko all leave. If the rumors are true (highly doubtful), these teams need to act swiftly to secure one or two of these players before Monaco shuts up shop, or some of these managers will be disappointed.

I mentioned the fact that his manager, who sees him every day of the week, selected him over Fabinho in the biggest game of the season. He can't be as bad as you lot make out, unless Fabinho just isn't as good as people think.

So wait, you've proven that Fabinho either isn't as good as we think, or that Bakuyoko isn't as bad as we make out, because the manager chose the latter in a big match and ended up getting thrashed 4-1?

Yeah, he was really vindicated in his decision there.

Why? He's been awful for two years now.

He wouldn't cost the earth, he's decent going forward, he's not that old, he's from a league Klopp knows and he'll have seen and studied him before. Having said that, maybe that's why he wouldn't be interested, if he has been poor.

Mendy is a £30m + LB, that is a bit above what Liverpool are willing to spend on the position I reckon.

They'll end up with some semi known LB from the German league for £10m.

They spent £20m on a right back about 6 years ago, we they can and will spend £30m on any player they feel is worth it.

They have James Milner playing left back for them!

Exactly mate, I don't know why some people think every world class player wants to leave their clubs to come to the Premier League. The English clubs haven't exactly shown Europe what they're missing out on the past few years, and that's without bringing the UK tax rules, weather and no winter break etc.

I'm sure most promising players these days dream of playing in La Liga with Madrid or Barcelona anyway.

The result doesn't matter and its beside the point; they did no better in the first leg with Fabinho. Like I said the manager picked him ahead of Fabinho and he wouldn't do that if he was so inferior as is being made out on here. In reality there is not much between them right now and it's open to opinion which is better. I suppose time will tell who is the better player. I do rate Fabinho but I end up having to make arguments against him just to try and bring some balance to it, because Bakayoko gets so much stick and Fabinho is heralded like the second coming of christ on here.

Of course it matters. Moreover Bakayoko had a terrible game. He was pretty shite and directly responsible for one of the goals during the fixture. If you watch both players over the season, Bakayoko is the more inconsistent performer.

Monaco played with 3 at the back in the second leg IIRC which neutralized the need for a DM and they were down by 2 goals so a more attack minded option made sense. A big reason why they didn't do better in the first leg was because of Bakayoko, he was shocking and has been meh since January after having a very good start to the season.

I'm trying to gain the willpower to avoid the forum over the transfer window. Last one was the worst ever. The extremes have no spectrum they are completely binary. It's either "cocks out" or "Madrid will get him"

The negative people piss me off the most and continue to doubt despite the multitude of big signings. There are also those who don't seem to understand that we can't be in for every player.

Yeah, despite the level of the players we signed last season, people will still dramatize. It should be clear by now that if a player has the characteristics that Jose needs, will improve us and there's a slight chance of us getting him, than we will be involved.

Yep at the very least we have as good a chance as any to land a particular player even the melts who doubt every single link to a player we eventually end up signing can at least begrudgingly acknowledge we're in with a fighting chance

And yet he gets picked over Fabinho in the big game. Something doesn't add up here.

It was only by pure luck that Fabinho also didn't gift Juve a goal in that same game.

Christ, you can't point to a match where Bakayoko gets picked over Fabinho and plays absolutely turd to try and vindicate your view that the latter isn't all that good.

The second part if your statement is beyond ridiculous as it assumes Fabinho would show the same laziness and lack of concentration which he hasn't shown anywhere nearly enough as Bakayoko this season.

He wasn't 'absolutely turd' at all. I saw quite a few people on here after saying he had a good game, Monaco were just completely outplayed though. And I'm not arguing that any of them arent that good. My argument is that Bakayoko isn't as bad, or 'turd', as some make out. Chelsea aren't mugs and wouldn't be after him for big money if he was.

I would say we have more chances than most if we go for a player we want

He was pretty shite and I remember the CL thread on redcafe calling him out, and so did BT Sport.

He's a good player, Bakayoko but to claim he's been as good as Fabinho this season is too far. Pointing out he was picked over Fabinho in a match he ended up playing terrible in is bizzare too.

If De Gea goes, I do think we'll go for someone like Ederson or Donnarumma and Romero would start a lot more to allow time for either to bed in. I do like Romero as a keeper, and I wouldn't mind something like that happening.

Same here, Romero is a very good keeper.

That would be the 2 I would go for aswell Donnarumma or Ederson, If I had to chose one I'd go for Donnarumma

If true, then the people at Monaco are very very stupid.
Monaco don't need to sell and the player doesn't want to move until after the World Cup so I don't really see the problem. Shows they've got ambition and I hope they retain the league title next season and have a big push in the CL again.
