Two but apparently he's signing a new one this summer.
Thanks. I was thinking about the option of not renewing his contract to lower the price, but it seems inevitable to pay at least 120 million.

Even if he doesn't renew, I'd imagine plenty of other clubs would be interested which would drive the price up.

Mbappe is our toy and we do not want any club to bring money! :D. I think that Madrid should get the word of the player and his family. If we had to pay them 80 million for James it is clear that we will have to pay a lot for Mbappé. The option of staying another year can be good for him but on the other hand, his moment is now, when he can get a super contract, always assuming that Madrid are really interested.

There's teams that could pay more than Madrid and offer him guaranteed playing time which is what he'd want if he was going to leave I'm sure.

The thing is, I don't see Mbappe leaving unless he's guaranteed to be a starter, especially with the World Cup around, and that can't happen at Madrid with BBC and Isco's recent form. He's in the moment of his life career wise but I don't see why that couldn't be prolonged with another good season and a chance to impress at the World Cup.

If Madrid or any other club pay that amount he won´t be in the bench. If he doesn´t want competition then he should choose another club but his year would have to be really bad to not go to the World Cup.

I honestly feel he's thrive with competition and get better, either way he'll have a lot of competition for a World Cup spot due to Deschamps favourites and the form of Lacazette, who didn't even go to the Euros.

I remember a video of Rio saying recently that he thought he was World class and achieved such a status because he went out there and made sure he performed better than the other CBs around him, whether it was in training or on the pitch.

Now if Mbappe was to move to Real and adapted the same mind set that he was going to be better than what Real already have and he achieved it, then he'd be something else.

Turning down a world record fee for some fecking 19 year old playing his first season of professional football:wenger: He could do his cruciate next season or be unfortunate enough to suffer some other horrible injury and then there'd be serious question marks surrounding him, there should be a lot of question marks around him even now, he's only a bloody kid. Crazy:lol:

That's their prerogative. They are a football team, not simply stocks and shares here. He's their player, they want to keep him and he wants to stay, for now anyway.

I'm sure when they do finally agree to sell him he won't be going for free anyway.

Well, France has a very good team, and Madrid certainly is not an easy destination for newcomers. I think Mbappé said some weeks ago that Madrid was a destination for players in their best football moment, something he had not yet reached. However no one is blind to see their margin of improvement, and on the other hand what @Valar Morghulis have just said.

It is their prerogative but nevertheless it's still an absolutely huge risk when you're turning down that kind of money for a POTENTIAL world class player, it just goes to show how crazy things are becoming.

That's a hefty price, not sure I'd pay that for him at all.
Its not a hefty price at all for a player who is settling well into the league and he's young and English.

Remember the good old days when some thought he was good enough for us.

Guilty. Though in my defence, I was expecting him to keep improving rather than regressing as he has.

£12m is nothing, even on this page you can see an average workhorse like McCarthy has a £20m price tag. It's smart business from Liverpool.

If Liverpool sign Demarai Gray for less than they sold Jordan Ibe for, you've got to take your hat off to them for it. Excellent transfer work.

12m for Gray is an excellent piece of business if true. You cant go wrong either way, even if he doesnt make the expected evolution, they can sell him for a similar price in a few years to a Premier League midtable club.

Ye, I'm a fan of Gray, wouldn't have minded him here as a squad option, has talent and is a proper winger.

Especially for that money.

Think it would be good for us to sign someone like Gray and Traore, players that have talent and ability, that are true wingers but need a wee bit of guidance to make that next step.

And at that price of around 12-15 million I think it'd be worth the risk.

Fair play to Liverpool.12m for Gray is a very good deal. Can't see them getting Mendy due to the price but even Ryan Sessegnon might turn out to be a great alternative

12m for Gray? We ought to go after him. We need more homegrown players to replace the soon to be outgoing ones.
