Yes..... Yes I do.

Hence AG will be 28 in 2-3 years time (and still shd have resale value) whereas GB (at 30), less so? We'd be taking the financial hit off Real.....

Unless Bale is £40m-£50m (dearish but in current market and given merchandise, acceptable), it's a no.

In the current market you'd be lucky to get Bale for around double that (and worth it).

I think it says AC agreed terms of contract with Rodriguez.

Will be good signing for Milan.

We don't need Bale. More than half the time he's been injured.

Players I wouldn't want United to get...
James Rodriguez (can't see him fit in the team)
Gareth Bale (Injury prone)
Marco Reus (Injury prone)
Alexis Sanchez (Prefer Griezmann and Arsenal won't sell either)

Nice signing. There was a point in time when I wanted Utd to sign him. We could probably do with him now actually, come to think of it. Assuming he's continued on the same trajectory as a few seasons ago, when he seemed to be a class act.

Is anyone monitoring the Douglas Costa situation at Bayern? I had heard of reports stating how he was unhappy by the lack of game time. He was being linked with Juve. I think he would be a fabulous addition to our attack. He's as quick as Rashford and we could secure him for 30-40M

Ive seen reports that spurs are looking to sign him.

Ducker is saying we're in pole position for bringing Keane back. We also could get a second centre back if Smalling goes, names such as Gimenez and Varane suggested as the second centre backs. It also says Mourinho is thought to have explored resigning Hernandez.

Unfortunately, he mentions we were going to listen to offers made for Shaw this summer before the injury occurred, which suggests a LB is incoming perhaps?

I can't see any point in buying Keane unless both Smalling and Jones are going, he's bang averge and the only reason he's being considered by any of the top clubs is because he's English.

And even then he isn't better than either of those two. A club like Everton or Leicester seems like a far more logical next step for Keane.

Both Morata and Lukaku have such huge "boom or bust" potential that I can't really get too excited at the prospect of signing them. Neither look like nailed on, sure fire transfers for the sort of money they'd cost.

Yeah, the only thing he really has over them is fitness and perhaps Jose and the staff feels mentality as well.

Which striker would you prefer Chelsea bought? Aubameyang maybe?

I don't understand how we can be buying back a player we basically just sold, did nobody say "hold on mate, this kids actually good?"

A bale that plays 20 matches is better then a Lingard that plays 60

Odd statement. One is a squad player who costs nothing and is happy to play second fiddle, does very well in certain tactical match-ups and is reliable when it comes to injuries. Another is a world-class crock who would cost an arm and a leg in both wages and transfer fee.

That's the issue. There really isn't that sure thing out there. Like when we signed Costa we knew he would be a guarenteed success and fit us like a glove.

I'd love Alexis but there's no chance Arsenal would agree to sell him to us.

Bale has been injury prone and I'm not a fan of Lingard but that doesn't mean we've got only two options? I would go for Douglas Costa instead. He's fast and he's younger and he wouldn't cost as much as Bale. If we plan on getting Griezmann and a striker, Bale would definitely not be in our budget.

Exactly. We have more options than Bale and Lingard. Obviously Bale would be a good buy if he's like 60M or so but if we're paying anywhere near what Madrid paid for him I wouldn't want him here. I'm a bit concerned with Costa though. I mean he's not exactly lit the world on fire as of late.

Point is that I would rather "gamble" on someone that has been world class and has that in their locker then stick with these average Joes that are good one game and average 10.

Mata, Lingard, Fellaini, young, Jones, smalling, Rooney are just so blatantly lacking in quality.

Bale, Martial, Shaw, Rashford, Pogba etc all have shown they have a higher level and may reach it and may become consistent.

The others are just so mediocre and it reflects in our league position.

I'll probably get hate for saying Mata is average because he is the darling of the club but seriously average.

Kind of agree

Highlight of the year as a United fan under Fergie was when the season was ongoing and we were winning stuff

Highlight of the year as a United fan at the moment is in the summer, muppetering over what we need and want to actually start winning stuff again

True. We have had up till now, Kagawa, Mata, Herrera, Di Maria, Luke Shaw, Martial, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Pogba, Mkhi, Zlatan, Bailey. So, we have had wingers, midfielders , strikers , defenders, you name them. Yet, we are struggling to even make top 4. Meanwhile, Leicester City has won the league, Tottenham has overtaken us, Chelsea have gone from 10th to 1st in a season, and we still looking to buy more players.

Think the approach needs to be questioned at some point. However, that is a discussion for another thread.

Bale's game is heavily reliant on his athleticism/physical prowess, so with all these injuries I'm not really keen on him

No, just no. You cannot put Mata between those because that's simply bullshit. Where do you get this feeling that Martial, Shaw, Rashford have 'higher level' than Mata is beyond me too.

Have the Bale rumors been sourced well or is it just muppet season?

This. He is just not as good as made out. Same with Ben GIbson being valued at 35m

Not hate, I just find it amusing how someone can put Mata in the "blatantly lacking in quality" group and then put the likes of Martial, Shaw and Rashford in the group that's supposed to have already shown a higher level with a straight face.

Totally agree. £30m almost for a Burnley CB. If Keane wasn't home-grown nobody would be bothered, certainly at that price. He's no better than anyone we currently have - the only thing he holds over Jones is fitness and Smalling too.

Would be a waste of £30m as it'd just be an expensive sideways step that wouldn't improve our squad much, really. Would much rather we sold one of Jones/Smalling and fully promote Tuanzebe to one of the four main CB berths.

Mata in the "blatantly lacking quality" group is madness imo.

Probably the most important thing because Jones and Smalling would actually be ok to have as back-up players if they could manage to actually stay fit for once but they can't. No point in counting on bench players that spend more time in the injurry basket than on the bench.

That being said, we should not be paying £30m for a back-up, certainly not one we let go off for £1m a season ago. That would be pure madness.

Imo Tuanzebe is pure quality, him and TFM with Bailly, Rojo and Blind

Add one experienced top CB to that mix (for example Manolas) and you have very good options on centreback, more than most teams

Mata will never ever be world, slow, can never run past a man, has too many games where he disappears and doesn't score or assist enough. A level below people like David silva. Don't get the love in for Mata

I'd rather chuck another £10-15m and get Van Dijk over Keane, although I rate Keane higher than some of you.
