united's account put a like on Mahrez's post, and then delete it after a short time.

So what happened to the Mahrez medical and the ultra reliable Bein Sports and Sky Sports not being reliable? That went well.

It was our rivals being linked with a player, so naturally it was 100% accurate.

No. We signed him the day after he destroyed us in a friendly.
That is said to be what happened but I recall Ferguson saying we already had an agreement with the player, and brought it forward after he destroyed us in a friendly. Fernando Santos has confirmed this. The whole thing about Ferguson deciding at half time to buy him is a bit of a myth.

The story works as we had no intention of him arriving in 2003, but that performance made us get him there and then.

Maybe, there were rumors Madrid were sniffing around him and Arsenal and Liverpool.

haha

love the transfer window with people hungry for signs of purchases

United like a Mahrez tweet and Malcom is learning English and it's on like Donkey Kong

I know. It's these type of decisions that just baffle me in recent years.

Maguire moves to Foxes for 12m in the same week that we're signing Lindelof for 25m...
That right there sums up our scouting....baffles by that decision

Bargain. So aguero is fecked. Alexis will play false 9 i guess

Jesus is injured so Sanchez and Aguero will rotate. when Jesus is back, that will be a problem but Alexis is versatile.

rich get richer, and a bargain price too, even if his contract is almost up.

Just when you couldn't pity Arsenal more!
Imagine being arsenal fan. You don't win nothing. Then you stop playing in CL.
And then you lose your best player for nothing and i presume(hope) second best also. And they go in your rivals.

Can't even buy half of a fecking Virgil van Dijk with that, these days.

In fairness they have won 3 of the last 4 FA Cups, but then that just compounds today, killing them dead, leaving them hoping to make it through the Europa, while their league form drifts.

It'd be annoying if we really want Ozil and being made to wait until the summer though if City get Sanchez.
But £30m or so is still a tidy fee when it'd be free later.

Considering the amount of money that the board take out of the club, I think it'd be fair enough to question whether they're in a position to be dithering around over a small fee for a quality player.

I'd also add that stranger things have happened than a team like this United side getting into the latter rounds of the CL - now, if that were to happen, would you rather do so with the option of Mesut Ozil in your squad, or without him?

If there's a chance we can get him, it should be done now. No doubt about that.

edit - if he's cup tied in the CL then it's less of a blow, but still think he should be brought in now, rather than risking him going elsewhere for free (when everyone will be in for him).

Difference between Sanchez and Ozil is Ozil has been an important player for Arsenal this season whereas Sanchez hasn't done much until last couple of games, and City isn't their direct rivals for a top four spot whereas we are. I think they'd get a lot more hell from their fans if they sell Ozil to us mid-season than if they sell Sanchez to City.

I reckon Arsenal will hold onto Ozil and hope that he signs a new contract and if he doesn't then c'est la vie.

Seeing as we (Chelsea) seem to be hell bent on adhering to the imaginary FFP rules and as such won't be spending silly money on any individual players, I think United may be the only side in the PL who will be able to stop City winning the league for the next few years.

I mean honestly, a normal side will lose a key attacker and have to make do with a squad option. City go out and buy one of the best players in the league to add to their already ridiculous squad. How is anyone else supposed to compete with a side that can do that unless they also spend crazy money?

I don't think cup tieing works across the 2 cups, so i'd be all for bringing him in if possible.

It's a bit worrying if a team like yours has that view! Good luck everyone else!

That's crazy. City've signed more of their players in recent years than we have, and have replaced them as the 'team who plays good footy and wins things', and are aiming to beat their 'Invincibles' record.

Arse fans should fecking hate city.

Indeed. But we're now trying to be a "self-sustaining" club. It's now a massive ordeal to sign anyone over £40m and we have a 1 in, 1 out policy. City on the other hand can drop £50m or more like its £10m.
