Coutinho just went to Barca for 140 mil and you think 35 is too much? When we're talking about that kind of money, it shouldn't even be a factor. More the question is whether we want/need a cup tied player with a known suspect attitude.
Disagree. I think you look at it the wrong way. Player costs maybe too expensive if you look for certain quality, but 35mil is still usable. How about using that money for a potential good player now and wait till summer to secure Ozil for free. Someone like Sessegnon. I know it doesn't fix our no 10 immediately but this way, we may get luck and have a winger. It's not the case of choosing between a cheaper unproven option vs expensive established player. It's about getting both while paying same fee. We plan to get Ozil eventually and just use the time and money to strengthen our team in this case.

If the title challenging is still on, I wouldn't say no to pay now. However, it's over. Spending to push for CL is pointless as there are teams spending plenty money on numbers of players yet there is no guarantee in winning. Ozil even at his best ain't helping us that much when it comes to CL. We can wait til next season when we have not just Ozil but more pieces to complete the puzzles. Our team should be comfortable to finish top 4 as it shows earlier this season. We fell back due to the aftershock of the derby result, but when thing stabilizes, there shouldn't be problem. Finishing 2nd or 4th is the same without title challenging chance.

I’d say now £35m is a fair price considering he can go anywhere in 6 months. Kind of like us getting RVP for £25 or so. I don’t think we’d sign him just to make a run in the FA Cup if he wasn’t cup tied and was able to play for us. The CL and cementing 2nd in the league would be our goal.
RVP signign was to push for the title. Spending now is not the same as the chance to win CL is low.

RVP/Ozil is apples to oranges. RVP was to push for the title so we bit the bullet and paid up. Ozil on the other hand is going to leave Arsenal one way or another so whether or not they sell him to us now or let him go on a free is up to them but either way it does United no harm. He won’t win us the title nor will he face Arsenal in the CL / there’s no way this move backfires on Arsenal.

Pretty much what it is, if Arsenal aren’t greedy feckers they’ll accept a fair bid of £25M for Ozil now. However if they want to be greedy and ask for £35M or so, then it’s only them that’s losing out as they are in no position of power to be demanding such a price nor are United in a desperate enough situation to agree since the league race is all but over.

...£25M would go a long ways for them in securing a top signing more so than anything so it’s really up to Arsenal - either hang on to Ozil for no apparent reason and don’t recoup any amount of money or swallow your pride and take the £25M now while you can which will help considerably come Summer time in securing a top target of theirs...

Would he not also be cup tied for the Champions League? I seem to remember Mata was when we bought him in January 2014.

Maybe they feel that securing a top four spot helps them recoup more than the 25 million offered thus why would they not only weaken their squad but help a direct rival in the process?

That’s up to them if they want to take such a gamble. As it stands, they’re clearly the weakest top6 team in the league and banking on a top4 finish at this point would be wishful thinking on their part.

If we're the weakest among the top 6 wouldn't it make more sense to strengthen the team, rather than weakening it further? 25m doesn't help us, without CL we won't be able to sign any decent replacement. It makes much more sense for us to hold on to Ozil and Sanchez till the end of the season in the hopes of winning the EL or making the top four. We made our decision when we didn't sell them over the summer, now I expect the board to commit to their decision instead of selling them midway through the season.

Very good points.

But this assumes that Ozil actually wants to join United (and Jose actually wants Ozil), right?

Has there been any indication of this?

Seriously.

Mkhi probably has more combined horrendous touches/passes this season than Ozil has in his fecking life.

That was my point. When Ozil is considered to have a bad game he just seems to get few little ball. Never said in those moments he had poor passing and touches.

Then I compared that to Mkh bad game where it's like playing with 10 men he looses the ball so much.

Pretty sure it applies for all European competition, not specifically Europa or CL.
I think if you're allowed one player who's played in the EL to play in the CL knockout stage. I think Chelsea once signed 2 players in Jan who'd played in the EL that season and they could only register one.

Arsenal will still need to replace those players anyway, so they’ll have the same problem now or in the summer.

Might as well do it with an extra £50million, and get the replacements bedded in.

Telefoot saying that Bordeaux, Nantes, OGC Nice, Real Betis and Manchester United are interested in signing PSG winger Lucas Moura, but all these clubs only want Lucas on loan, while PSG want to sell. Also, of these sides, Lucas only wants United.

How reliable are Telefoot?

Just look at the level of clubs he's being linked with outside of us. Should tell you something.

No wonder he want's United with the clubs that have enquired about him.

"Kane offers(himself) to Real Madrid"
The article says that Kane is madridista, that he admired the Madrid of Raúl,R.Carlos and Morientes that won the C.L to Valencia.
They continue saying that he is part of CAA (Creative Artists Agency) ,being some of the professionals of this agency controlled by Mendes.
"Kane has frankly exposed to his representatives that next summer he wants to fulfill the dream of three lustrums ago: to play in the Real Madrid of this era."
The rest of the article explains that Madrid has a very good report about him,not only his football virtues but his personal life.
The source is good although very linked to Madrid board.
An article written from the club that tries to create a madridista past(don't know if true) to hook the fans and curiously one day after the signing of Coutinho

Can't see it. La Liga doesn't hold that sort of appeal for British players where they're obsessed with Madrid or Barca imo.
I mean what age would he have been to admire that team? 6?
In an era when CL football was on ITV and Madrid weren't shown that much compared to today

Article is trying too hard after what Barcelona done yesterday.

We have a good shot on winning the Europa League with Ozil and Sanchez if we fail on top4. Thats 30m or so and CL qualification if we do. Sure it’s a gamble but one we have to go for right now obviously. So sorry to break it to you but 25m is never going to happen. He will most likely leave in the summer and don’t just assume it will be for United since I can see plenty of other clubs going for him when he’s avaible on a free transfer. Bayern, juventus, even Barca might be there to try to snatch him up when the market is as crazy at is right now and a top player is available for free.

That's some Lord of the Rings shit right there!

Did they understand what Kane was speaking? Impressive. Though "lustrums" is a giveaway.

In short he didn't, same as all the mercenaries who went to City (at the beginning) saying they liked the project and what not, he just wants to go to the highest level, and Barca/Madrid are that level.

No idea why footballers don't just come out straight and say I moved for the money/winning big trophies.

Yeah but a loan with an option to buy would be great, wouldn't it? If he can't make into PSG's starting XI where he has competition from Neymar doesn't mean he is shit. Sanchez didn't make it at Barca. I think Moura is worth a shot if we could get him on loan + option to buy.

Only have to take a look at the other teams linked to him.

Even if that is true. It will take an enormous amount of money to land him, Levy won't let him go for less than 250 m euros. Cant see Madrid spending that.

A loan for Moura till the end of the season doesn't really look like a bad idea, eh ? Test him, if he proves himself good again buy him in summer, otherwise returns him to PSG.

Of course it isn't a bad idea for the clubs who want him. Awful idea for PSG though as they want to sell him permanently and as a result can't see them agree to it.

Yeah the problem will be with PSG himself, much like us in case of Mikhi. These situations are always complicated.

Are here some new links to Ozil?

Only the Mirror piece.
It's interesting that there's talk of 80m January kitty. That would take his 226m net spend to 306, which is what most have said, around 150m per season to spend (net).
