Lot of that going around at this club and I and many supporters are extremely annoyed at how little say the fecking manager has in transfers, both in and out. Doesn't get any of his main targets and those he clearly wanted to keep (Matic) get sold.

Sarcasm? José barely have him a sniff. Honestly, Conte completely misused him last season as well. This loan at Palace where he gets consistent game time in his actual best position should've been the perfect training for him to then return next summer. With Barkley coming in I don't see that happening.

Jose barely plays any kids - but he always spoke highly of him and I always got the impression he thought a lot of him.

Absolute waste. Loftus-Cheek has more potential than Barkley and is already on our books. Where the feck does this leave him?

Thankfully it looks like we'll get him for a bargain, cut-price sum so it's not a huge letdown if he flops. I just don't see where he gets into our team.

Also, I don't believe for a second that this would be a Conte signing. Smacks of the board trying to strike gold with another cheap deal.
Trying to raise the English quota perhaps? Barkley and Carroll both linked.

Ridiculous isn't it? They have RLC loaned out and he looks a much better prospect currently

RLC is a quality young player and no say whether he will return and play with us, but we have to fill a homegrown quota too. If we can buy a talented young(ish) English player then we do it. RLC has spent the last few years rotting on the bench so he needs at least another season on loan imo. It will do him good. Barkley is more experienced in the Prem.

If you read the rumours from the summer, Conte wanted Ross, even called him personally (apparently) so no, not a board signing by the sounds of things. Also, Conte was adamant on playing RLC as a striker, so obviously didn't like him in the CM position. RLC isn't exactly a workhorse in midfield, so maybe he's not what Conte is looking for, for that position.

Hopefully it leaves him coming to United in the summer. I think he's a hell of a player.

Emre Can has chosen Juventus. The Bianconeri had very positive contacts with his his agent in the last hours. [Di Marzio]

Valverde insists Barcelona’s stars are mentally tough enough to get EVEN better if Messi gets hurt

Mourinho insists United’s stars are mentally tough enough to get EVEN better if Pogba gets hurt

Emery insists PSG’s stars are mentally tough enough to get EVEN better if Neymar gets hurt

Pep insists City’s stars are mentally tough enough to get EVEN better if De Bruyne gets hurt

With Barkley most likely going to Chelsea, I wouldn't mind trying to get Loftus-Cheek in the summer as a more than capable Pogba backup. He would be a relatively cheaper CM option. Kluivert and Mahrez would be good alternatives for the RW.

Loftus-Cheek
Kluivert/ Mahrez
Dybala (marquee player)

I think we'll go all out to sign Dybala and that could be a reason why we've gone cold on the Sandro deal (apart from Luke Shaw recent resurgence). Although I like the look of Tierney though.

Hasn't Abramovic parted ways with managers because they don't play Champagne football in the past? Or at least, hasn't he complained about it?

Why on earth would he go for Simeone, other than there being very few top level managers left to take over the club?

 The comments from Galatasaray fans saying they wanted Asamoah

Nice. Hope you manage to get it signed if it does happen.

Asamoah was not laughable and actually it was really close to be done before the summer window shut down. But obviously since then he started to feature regularly. Still, it has a chance to happen on free at the end of the season.

Yeah, that was the only reason I was laughing. Juventus aren't going to sell with the situation with Sandro and Asamoah is probably happier with the increased game time he has.

That seems a surprisingly low fee even for a player in the last 6 months of his contract. Oxlade-Chamberlain went for 40 in the summer.

Chelsea had a £35M bid accepted in the summer but Barkley backed out - probably so he could get higher wages in a cut price move this month. Price was always going to be halved. Like with Sanchez: he was linked with a £60M move last summer and now it is half that if City sign him this month.

He had a full 12 month left though, if the scouse had waited until January then they wouldn't have paid 40m.
