There's actually a remarkable lack of noise about us signing Ozil to be honest.
No way will we sign him in January for 30/40m when we can have him for free in the summer. Not worth it just to have him for 6 months earlier.

Let's remember the journalists all thought we would sign Morata, nobody had a clue about Lukaku. Keep everything with a pinch of salt.

I always think Luckhurst comes across as pro-Mourinho in his articles.

Hmm, I'll look into more of his things, think I land on any negative from him. Maybe they just get more attention

Edit I'm not on twitter but am scrolling this guys page, maybe I have him mixed up

No Memes in the Footy forums. You've been previously warned about this.
To be fair, I'd swap Heskey for Mkhitaryan at this point.

Encouraging (if true) that we're in for a RB as well as a LB.

However a week ago, every journalist was saying we wanted a RW. Almost as if they're making it up.

If the Ladyman article is correct, it looks like some journos are being briefed by Mourinho and others are being briefed by the board, hence the differences in stories coming out. Difficult to say which ones are true though.

Keegan and Ladyboy are probably on something. I think we'll land one or two players before the window shuts.

If Pogba or Matic get injured in second half of season, we are in big trouble. We need at least 1 midfielder this window.

Bang on point.

Frankly I am baffled by all the full back talks. Yes, we certainly need those re-enforcements in the mid/long term but our most urgent need right now is a midfielder. We know what happens when Pogba is out or out of form. I don't even want to think about what will happen if Matic is out.

Aye, we desperately need a CM. Matic looks absolutely knackered lately and we have a real lack of options in that position. I think we can wait until the summer to get a FB in but we lack depth in CM.

Yes, and he has already played with injuries, and looks very tired.

Look they had 60 mil offer i think 4 months ago. They decided not to sell. Obviously they had reasons for that. With him they can reach CL through league or europa league like us last season. CL will bring them at least 60 mil for next season. They are still in fight for that 4th place. Without him they don't have any chance.
So if they refused that 60 mil it would be really stupid sell him now for 25

There were some figures bandied about regarding CL revenues recently and apparently Real Madrid last season took home €58m for winning the CL and it was the most any team ever got. Teams appearing in group stages earn between 20-25m and Arsenal who get knocked out at last 16 very consistently, tend to get around 30m. Not 60m

Unless they have highly punitive clauses from sponsors about CL qualification and the cost really escalates if they don’t qualify, but I don’t see it. Certainly not doubling.

agree agree. We still have plenty of options to play as fullbacks and they are good enough for a top 4 finish, but bad for a big title challenge against City next season. Without Pogba or Matic or both we could loose top 4 and it would be disaster really. A RW would be welcomed as well. Mou makes average defenders defend well as a whole anyway, not so much said about attackers attacking!

José said a few days ago he doesn’t expect any January signings.

Someone’s lying and it’s usually the “reporters” winding fans up and creating false expectations which lead to fake disappointments.

Jose just recently changed his stance from "we won't sign anyone" to "maybe now or in the summer, I don't know". Clearly, we are trying but he doesn't know if it can be done.

Couldn't agree more. The most important position that needs addressing. Also, when everyone's fit, we'd maybe want to go with 3 top midfielders and allow Pogba to do his thing.

I'd rather go with squad players or McTominey if we aren't getting top quality though. Joao Mario is nowhere near Milinkovic-Savic.

Lemar to Liverpool annoys me hope it doesn’t happen.

Two fullbacks seems very unlikely unless Valencia's injury is worse than we have let on, we don't need an AM, we need a CM.

With Pogba, Matic, Fellaini, Herrera, McTominay, Axel and Carrick being the selection, the drop in quality when the first 2 are out is pretty large.

You can't buy cover for Pogba, if he's out we just move to 4-2-3-1 and play Lingard as the #10.

IDK the rules about posting links to other articles, but this is from a Guardian article "Arsenal, who reached the same round where they lost 5-1 on aggregate to Barcelona, made €53m", where they reached the R16. IDK what figures you're looking at, but being an English club in the CL gets the clubs paid.

I agree. Imo we need two top midfielders across the next 2 windows and a top right winger. I'm actually OK on the LB situation in comparison to the other holes in the side.

In fairness to the right wing role, Mata is sublime at times and I would like to see him involved more.

There's simply no way United should allow Liverpool to get Lemar if he's available. He's a generational talent and far more suited to Old Trafford. Would be the ideal player to cross the ball to Lukaku, plus he's quick and can dribble. Lemar on right, Martial on left.

I reckon it'll happen this window by the looks of it. Coutinho out and Lemar in. If possible they'll probably try to move forward the Keira move too.

Would be insane of United to allow this to move forward. Keita and Lemar are superior players to Coutinho.

That might be a bit of a stretch.

Why would he want to go there when he could play for a much bigger club

Klopp is seemingly doing well to convince these attacking players that Liverpool is a good option. Lemar shouldn’t be allowed to go to Liverpool without us or another club fighting it.
