"Chief executive Ed Woodward is preparing to bankroll Mourinho further in the transfer window if required and plans are in place for two marquee signings in the summer".

Hopefully a CM and RW.

Dybala and a top CM please

John Cross says that Arsenal will sell Alexis at 25m pound

A distinct lack of "BOOM!" In that article. Well at least Sanchez won two Feck All cups and lived in good ol' Laaandon Taaawn so best years of his life well spent.

Is that one of your inside tracks à la Young?

Ha!

Nah, my Sanchez post is just a hunch.

I remember a contact telling me that Young to United was done. I felt like ITK royalty when it actually happened for close to the transfer fee and wage mooted.

As it happens, a PR contact recently told me that Bale to United is nailed on for this summer, but that’s hardy a privileged rumour. Same guy told me that Real Madrid are exasperated with the player because he refuses to pack the golf in and that’s exacerbating his injury problems. Apparently he is pretty good (scratch) and won’t stop.

I sincerely hope your contact is wrong. A crock who relies on his physicality, whose physical attributes are beginning to dwindle is the last thing we’d need. Actually that sounds exactly like the sort of transfer we’d make.

Bale’s agent is Jonathan Barnett. My contact reckons he had a meeting with Barnett about an unrelated matter and it came up in small talk. My guy is stand up sort of character who isn’t prone to bullshitting, so don’t see why he’d make it up. (He’s a Southampton fan, so no obvious bias for or against).

Tbh, I tend to take all this stuff with a pinch of salt, but interested to see if he does move in the summer. His current standing at Real Madrid allied to United’s need for goals makes it a possibility.

Edit: I also hope he’s wrong. Crock!

He may be reliable but it’s not a claim that puts his neck massively on the block in terms of providing juicy details.
It was a small snippet of info from a piece that he did on Mourinho and the United Hierarchy.

Not sure who the second marquee signing in the summer would be but hopefully the main one is Dybala. As for this window, I'd love us to get Kovacic.

No fecking bloody way that they will sell him for 25 when they are fighting for top 4.
If they do:
1) they are idiots
2) any big club should jump in that wagon. No matter what.
3) no way it is true

Why turn down 50m in August only to sell for half that 5 months later?
Well if the rumours are true his teammates hate him, this might be a 25M addition by subtraction and it´s obviously not fixable.

German reporter saying, that Can will leave Liverpool for Juve already in winter.

Can´t see Can and Coutinho leaving now, unless Liverpool have signings lined-up already. I´m Liverpool I let Can go now, and throw €40M on top to get Alex Sandro. That would be a criminal piece of business. Maybe also try to hijack the Pjaca loan deal Wolfsburg/Schalke fighting over to stopgap the Coutinho exit with a buy option until the summer.

- he is free in summer, 25m would be more than fine. could live with 20m too. maybe we will get 25 because Jesus is injured and they could need him now.
- we will not finish in the top 4 anyway, with or without him.
- he had maybe two very good games in the first half of the season (Spurs, Palace).
- sell him now, get a replacement (the replacement will need time to adapt to the PL)
- we can't afford to lose both (Özil, Sanchez) in summer - so replace Sanchez now and Özil in summer

Barca would lose the plot, the hilarity that would ensue would be biblical

Tapping up is a thing of the past it seems.

Bad news for the rest of the PL if this comes off (though I don't see it happening), I think Umtiti will be the best CB in the world within 2 seasons.

Great on the ball as well, so perfect for City & Pep.

If I am not mistaken Sport witness disagree with them regarding the translation of the original L'Equipe article. Sport say it credits SUN as the source. The GFF people say its more of L'Equipe agreeing with SUN as original source but with their own corroboration.

You can see it here in the replies here.

Sports Witness really is so good. Cuts all the bullshit immediately.

How much do you expect him to go for considering he’ll be available on a free in less than 6 months?

Arsenal should be glad to recoup £25M at this point if they’re able to get something done. Any team offering more than that would be the idiots tbh.

Look they had 60 mil offer i think 4 months ago. They decided not to sell. Obviously they had reasons for that. With him they can reach CL through league or europa league like us last season. CL will bring them at least 60 mil for next season. They are still in fight for that 4th place. Without him they don't have any chance.
So if they refused that 60 mil it would be really stupid sell him now for 25

Why are Barca so bad at release clauses?
To have big release clause the player has to agree, which means convincing the player may be more expensive. Barcelona focus more on the super stars. Umtiti was signed not long ago but before the crazy current price hike so this release clause is reasonable with that context. Who would have thought the record for most expensive defender keeps getting broken in quick amount of time? (especially when you look at the talent, clearly not as good as older generation like Rio, Vidic, Terry...)

I tend to agree but the problem is, how hard do you expect him to play for the next 4 months if he’s forced to stay? He could already have agreed a move to City by then, what’s his incentive to get Arsenal in to the CL? He’s already looked like he doesn’t give a shit as it is.

They were foolish not to take £60m for him in the summer, idiotic decision.

Exactly. Could have bought Mahrez to replace him and had enough change to buy Wenger a year's supply of sucking lemons.

I was all for this signing. Five years ago. And he was past his best then. Might be a better option than Carrick in rotation though, and he's still good with interceptions, passing, etc. If it's on a free, or for a nominal fee, I don't see the harm. Not like we're blessed with depth of midfielders. Give him a one year deal.
