It does not really matter... The moment they start winning trophies one after another and play entertaining football like they have done, it won't be long till those seats are all occupied. They were just noisy neighbors to begin with... They are much more than that now. Just sayin.

Well the fact is they’ve been winning and competing for a few seasons now, and if how they’ve been playing this season can’t get them to fill their stadium, then nothing will.

The trophy winning will help them build a formidable fanbase globally, but is that really going to affect domestic participation? I’m assuming all die-hard local City fans are the ones already in the stadium, and there aren’t going to be many new local converts joining in- i’d associate that phenomenon more with foreign markets than the domestic english base. And no way are they going to get 10,000 (or even half that number) visiting tourists every matchday even at their peak.

Nonsense. PSG are on a higher path than City and they're still a tiny club.
The only reason posters like you think they have a chance of becoming more than noisey neighbours is because they are our noisey neighbours. It fits the narrative.
If they were called London City then they would be seen as another Chelsea, feck they'd be lucky to be as successful as Chelsea have been yet there's nobody claiming they were on the brink of becoming this mega club.

Technically not transfer-related or Twitter but

"Taken in Barcelona, Spain"

ffs:lol::(

Perfectly suited for City's possession based style

Why should they break the bank for someone who is injured all the time? He will show a bit of 'passion' and pick a fight with the opposition and Arsenal fans will forget about his shite performance whenever he has one.

Crocked fraud. Imagine him turning down 80k a week.

Surely kids growing up in Manchester are now more likely to support City than they were say 10-20 years ago? They wont convert old fans but young kids will support City for the likes of Aguero, de Bruyne and Silva.

Could be cheap if City decide to throw in Aguero to sweeten the deal as Real are looking to replace Benzema.

The rumours about Real Madrid selling Benzema for "player X" has been on-going for ages and the man is still at the club.

Benzema has made most assists for Madrid and is a very important part of their attacking play.

Nothing suggests that they're gonna replace him.

Mirror saying that Mourinho is willing to sell Martial to buy Bale.
That'd be a truly dreadful decision imo.

Yeah like we need to sell to buy.

We don't, but we've got two attacking players on the bench as it is, so if we are doing something as ludicrous as getting Bale for loads of cash, then it wouldn't surprise me to see Martial leave. Hope it's BS. The guy is injury prone, on the decline, on huge wages, 29, costs a lot and doesn't even want to come here.

We don't have a proper right winger, that's a problem. Lingard, Sanchez, Martial and Rashford prefer left, we have Mata on the right flank who can be more comfortable, it's 4-1 on both flank depth which is very unbalanced. If we sell any of 4 left wingers to open space for the right winger, that would be fine. To be honest, I don't want Bale despite his injury because he subbed us many times and why would we go for in him if he doesn't want us before? I'd rather go for young world-class wingers or find young people with great potential like Leon Bailly, Malcom, etc.

I think I would be happy with Bale if we knew Chong would break into the first team considering he's only 18 and become a successor to Bale.

The fact that he's ageing and they could possibly end the season trophyless could get them to refresh their squad.

Basically my nightmare scenario for the summer - credit where it’s due, the Mirror know which buttons to press.

Getting a injury prone striker whose 29 and could possibly play only 20 games a season would be complete stupidity; more so by selling a 22 year old who could get a lot better. Martial >>>> Bale always. Martial has been one of our best players this season. Mirror are stupid.

Of course it's dumb, but do you really think it has no chance of happening? Bale's clearly done at Madrid (in terms of Zidane at least). Martial has constantly been benched/underutilized by Mourinho and we just bought Sanchez who's best position is on the left. Almost all would agree that it's a terrible move (especially long term) but is it really unlikely given Mourinho's track record and our infatuation with Bale the past 4 years?

Yeah like we need to sell to buy.
We're still being linked to signing two midfielders, a left back and possibly a centre back too. When Mourinho signed Sanchez, he said at the time that doing that signing then would mean we wouldn't need to sign an attacker in summer. Things seem to have changed since then with Mourinho deciding that Sanchez is best playing on the left and he tried to fit Martial and Rashford on the right with not much success. If he wants to bring in a right winger in the summer as well as the players we had already budgeted for then it makes sense to sell one of the players who could bring in the most money and would end up falling further down the pecking order anyway.

I wouldn't want to see us bring in Bale at all - never mind sell Martial for it - but if we are after another attacker it seems likely Martial will be sold in the process to raise some of the funds and we'd probably promote Chong in the process.

Its not happening, Jose can't sell Martial 6 times in 2 seasons!
If anybody goes it'll be Mata but why is having to sell to buy being treated like fact?
Have I missed something?
Jose even mentioned Martial as a reason we dont have to replace Ibra.

See my post above. When we signed Sanchez, Mourinho said signing him meant we wouldn't be signing an attacker in summer. We've probably already budgeted for a couple of midfielders, a left back and maybe a centre back as well so to sign another attacker we might need to balance the books a bit. We wouldn't get anywhere near as much for Mata as we would for Martial.

Because our de facto transfer budget, which is £150m, would barely cover 3 signings in this market.

@Damien
But thats relying on Jose changing his mind though, he's been fairly consistent with this. Just last Friday he was talking up the possibility of playing two up top next season.
It just seems the press are linking us with attackers because the likes of Rose / Umtiti doesn't generate clicks.
That's the thing about Jose, he seems to have been 100 percent honest about his transfer plans thus far. Shockingly so in fact.

Yeah, I agree with that - with the possible exception of Shaw. I don't think Mourinho's been that keen on him staying/extending.

Just saying that if we are bringing in another attacker then we would probably need to sell as it wouldn't fit in our transfer budget.

I don't think linking us with Bale would generate that many clicks either. We've had so many false alarms over the past few years that it feels on the verge of going into Ronaldo/Gaitan territory.

They keep linking us with him because people keep clicking.

It's John Richardson lads. He knows feck all.

John Richardson formerly of Express has written this report. Only last week Mirror, different article was claiming that we wanted to sell Pogba too.
