Real Madrid eye transfer of Tottenham contract rebel Toby Alderweireld amid Manchester United, Man City and Chelsea interest
That's according to Corriere dello Sport, and all Italian papers are a joke.
Of course you'd love to see the best players here but how could we even possibly consider Icardi when we have so many players for that role already, including having splashed 90 odd million on Lukaku just this summer gone
And who do we sell Lukaku to, so we get our money back? Because no way either of these two strikers would be happy on the bench.Arsenal bought Lacazette and then 6 months later bought Aubameyang, with Icardi he's about the last one left of the top strikers in Europe that is obtainable, if there's a chance to get him it would really polish our attack.

Manchester United's Luke Shaw on Arsenal and Chelsea transfer radars with no talks yet over promised new deal

As I said would love him here, but you also have to figure we have not only Lukaku but Rashford who won't be going anywhere, Sanchez and Martial, at least 2 or 3 of those i'm sure would prefer to be playing as the 9. However, if I was honest, I would prefer to have Icardi over Lukaku but I believe this ship as sailed now.
If you think Lukaku is limited then wonder what you will think of Icardi if you watch him for 90 mins.
I've watched plenty of him, his touch and hold-up play are stronger and he's much more clinical, he's not the all round striker I'd like but he's a big upgrade.
Apart from finishing there is nothing Icardi is better at than Lukaku. There are Inter fans who sees beyond numbers think he might be the reason for their low goal output as he can't hold the ball and bring others into play. He adds nothing outside the box and it not even involved in the build up play. He might not be the reason for their poor attacking play but his contribution outside the box and in build up is as good as 0.
For example just check his recent games where he played 90 mins
Vs SPAL - 20 touches - 15 passes
Vs Roma - 20 touches - 6 oasses
Vs Fiorentina - 31 touches - 21 passes
Vs Lazio - 28 touches - 16 passes
Vs Sassuolo - 22 touches - 14 passes ( they had more than 70% possession in that game)
Vs Chievo - 20 touches - 13 passes (they had 65% possession and he played 74 mins)
If people think Lukaku is poor outside the box then it would be awesome to see CAF meltdown when Icardi don't help in the build up play and invisible for almost all game.
He is ruthless infront of goal though, again he won't shoot from impossible angles like Kane either.
He completes 1 dribble in 3 games, and creates less than 1 chance per game on average.
If people want to play modern football, he isn't the player we should be signing and he will cost more than 100 million.
When the ball comes to him the move doesn't break down due to a horrible first touch or clumsiness, I never claimed he was creative, he's just very efficient and effective with what he does do, which would be an upgrade in our current team.
He isn't upgrade. Signing Icardi will take us even lower in the game we play. Move won't breakdown as he won't be part of any move. He will be involved only at the end of the moves.
You are talking about a play style, not about effectiveness, there's a difference, and our play style couldn't be much worse. A player that knows what he is good at and just looks to get on the end of things is fine if the players in behind can craft chances. I don't see us becoming some great footballing side with the current situation, Icardi would at least make us a more clinical one.
He will be clinical only if you create chances. As it is Lukaku is creating chances, not the other way.
There is no doubt we will be lot worse with Icardi.
No we wont, he is a more efficient and effective striker than the one we have, both are lacking in the same things but once is completely ruthless and the other isn't, it may not make us into an attractive side, but Icardi would make us a more clinical one with his finishing.
They don't lack the same thing, Icardi lacks everything except finishing.
That's just simply not true but we'll just leave it at that, I know you love Lukaku so we can just agree to disagree.
If we had Icardi leading the line then we wouldn't be creating those chances at all. His link up play is average and this season he is sort of improving.
Lukaku. Icardi is limited on the ball but very lethal striker, probably has the best conversion rate among the strikers. Haven't watched others play, I go for Lukaku as he is one of the best strikers in the league and doesn't need much time adapting to the league.
Icardi is nearly useless outside the box, so his work in the build up play is poor. He has improved this season but still average. Icardi has better first touch and finishing though, he is very good at converting chances. Saying that he is very poor dribbler and his hold up play is poor.
Lukaku's first touch is inconsistent but he can hurt opponents in many ways and can create chances out of nowhere which Icardi can't.
Btw, I wouldn't read much into National team form, it's completely different from club form.
There aren't many good goalscorers who are available, especially someone who is young and can provide years of service. Only good goal scorers who might be available is Icardi and Belotti but even Icardi will cost a lot and he is near useless outside the box.
Contradiction mate. Icardi is younger Hernandez. He is superb poacher but his overall game is average. Probably he scored only 1 goal from outside the box for Inter in 2-3 years.
No. He is like Hernandez. He can't dribble, can't pass (meaning creative passes) but his finishing and movement is class though. He does what striker should, put the ball in the net.
Raiola wants to set up a deal for Icardi and then we bench his client Lukaku? Sounds legit.
Then Lukaku asks for a move and Raiola makes even more money.
It would also show we are being led by the nose by a certain agent. We desperately need to sign the right players not line this agents pocket again. He has enough money off us and the signings have been a bit hit and miss. Get it wrong and we could be in big trouble.Icardi would be a stupid as feck signing in my opinion and would add fuel to the fire that there's literally no planning to our transfers.
Who have we bought to sell shirts? What a lazy argument.
