this is how ol pepito justifies it apparently:

He's paying world record fees for defenders (at the time) and full backs. He hasn't spent £80m+ yet because he hasn't needed a top class attacker yet. yet. he does, he will. He can stop trying to take any moral high ground.

It's not even that funny anymore, it's ridiculous!!
City are buying up everyone, I think Pep was serious when he said he wants 22 World Class players in his squad.
They wanted to sign Sanchez and most probably would have if Jesus injury was serious.
Now they want to spend 60 mill because one of their wingers is injured for 6 weeks!
The league is already done and the CL tie they have is against frigging Basel yet they are willing to spend that much on a back up!!

I know many here wanted us to buy Mahrez, I myself wasn't very convinced. Do people think he's worth this 60-75 mill that Leicester want for him?

I could see where this is going. Mahrez hands in a transfer request, clubs rejects it as they cannot find a suitable replacement. Mahrez doesn't get his move and and refuses to play upcoming fixtures, derails Leicester season. This same fecking thing happened with Sanchez last summer

City are disgusting. If this goes through, less than 2weeks after they were being lauded as saviours of modern football for not bowing to Sanchez's agent fees, they'll have spent £120m on two players in 2 days.

60m because one of their players is injured for 6 weeks? wtf?

Absolutely ridiculous, 6 weeks out and they’re going to spend £60m, how about you try and manage with all the other attackers you have, or promote from the worlds bestest shniest perfect in every way academy:wenger:

They get all this praise for it, but they don’t fecking use it:lol:

And will there be any journalist outrage? Will there feck

The ridiculous thing is to think what will they do once Sane becomes fit again ? Will they bench the 60m Mahrez or bench Sane - who is one of their best players this season - because of the new toy ?

This Mahrez deal is absolutely hilarious.

Apparently City have state of the art youth facilities. Mega ultra super Academy OT something. How come they don't use it.

Says a lot for Pep's genius that he can't adapt to this, it's not like Sane is out for the rest of the season.

Although to be honest they had managed to find a way around losing Mendy early on, utilising Delph and recently Zinchenko, so it's actually quite odd they're willing to do this.

Surely they could shift things about a bit? Move Silva or KdB forward a bit if necessary, bring Gundogan and Toure in a bit more. I mean they still have B. Silva and youngsters like Foden...

It's why you have a squad in football ffs!

so Pep you lying bastard when are you going to admit Sanchez not signing was nothing to do with unreasonable demands, just the fact he rejected you for Jose?

"Wont pay that kind of money for players" 50 odd mill on a cb then this rumoured Mahrez bid. Awful liar

Genius though, definitely not a chequebook manager......... right?! right?!

City are making a habit out of making very late bids for players. All summer they wanted Sanchez but only went for him when it got extremely difficult to sign a replacement. Same with Mahrez.

Player becomes unsettled, kicks up a fuss. They get him for cheaper in the next window.

I mean it's nothing new. As soon as Mendy got injured first thing Pep said was they're probably buy a new LB.

I don’t get it. Bernardo Silva’s barely had a kick and the much lauded academy players. The academy could just be a work of fiction like Kinkladze’s world class ability because no one has seen any evidence of it.

They are destabalising other clubs. It isn't going to win them many friends. Not that they care.

One injury and without even thinking about trusting the players you have, quick, back to the market!
It's fecking ridiculous. They were talking the same way about Sanchez, ie he's really needed as Jesus was going to be out for 4 weeks. What kind of club throws £50m at a short term problem? And, like you say, they totally ignore their gold standard youth set up. Utterly plastic club.

What they need is kids to turn down the chance to go there, but they won't because their parents hands will be lined with silver.

Yep. As long as they pay for education and lure the parents with new houses, the kids will keep going there. They're like a rich teenager that buys the latest Iphone because their old one is going to take 3 days to repair. Just an utter void of a club.

All this 'obscene' cost of the Sanchez transfer that City primed the press with is looking more silly by the day.

Yet these parents could end up ruining their careers. It would be better for the kids to be in a lesser academy, get football and then get a move to a PL club. Parents are greedy sometimes.

I think it makes sense in some way. And that way, is if you consider B.Silva to be the long term successor of D.Silva and competing for one of 2 advanced /box-to-box CM positions in City midfield 3.

If Fernandinho and maybe in the future Fred are competing for the DM spot... then KDB, B.Silva, Gundogan and D.Silva are competing for the advanced roles. Which leaves only Sterling and Sane as the out and out wingers, with Sterling verstile enough to play on both sides of the pitch. Which means signing a specialised RW in Mahrez is only creating a healthy competition of 3 players for 2 spots.

If that's Pep's plan, then it makes sense to go for Mahrez to be honest.
