Could work. Would surprise me if he dropped Rooney. He's not really done that, he's playing Sigurdsson on the left, leaving him pretty much isolated in the game, to accommodate Rooney in the hole.

Are they better than Leicester?

He only started 2 of their last 5 league games, and that was before they signed Tosun and Walcott, let alone hypothetically Vardy.

I don't think they're better than Leicester at the moment, but they do have quality there and I'd say are more likely to spend and improve. Leicester look like they could lose any of their best players at a moments notice.

You're probably right. Given Everton's spending this season, could they afford Vardy though. Wouldn't expect him to go for less than 50m (probably more), he's vital to Leicester and pretty tricky losing him in January.

It would make Everton less terrible to watch though.

Surely you cannot expect Bayern to refuse to improve their team in order to make the league more competitive though? Goretzka would have left anyways and a lot of Bayern’s players came from outside the league or through their system.

No, not at all. But I'm not envious of their situation either.

Everton need to be clearing out the dross from their bloated squad before they look to add Vardy surely?

Nicolás Gaitán's move to Monterrey is close to falling through and his priority is a return to Boca Juniors

The one that got away for Monterrey :(

I know the Caf probably doesn't care about this, but this is a pretty big deal for MLS. Atlanta United has signed one of the best young talents in Argentina from Independiente for a league record fee (10.8 million pounds). Sellon percentage to Independiente for 2 seasons of 30%, after which it drops to 10%. These are the kinds of signings that are starting to transform the image of MLS. Atlanta United has come in committed to signing young talent, mostly from South America, and developing before selling them for profit to Europe. If Sanchez gets signed today as well I'll have had the perfect day.

It's a huge deal for MLS. Barco is highly rated, was a bit bemused he's gone there if i'm honest.

Very excited this finally got done. I think we'll be lucky to get a second full season out of Almiron at the rate he's going and we've got a big Yamil Asad shaped hole that needs filling, so Barco will be key.

He comes from a very poor back ground so I'm not going to pretend that money wasn't a reason. However, working under Tata Martino who is a legend there is certainly a draw for most South Americans. Also, Atlanta has made no qualms about being willing to sell players on in a few years after developing them to Europe. That honesty and willingness to not tie players down is probably very valuable to players as well.

I could see Atlanta United dominate MLS soon. They have a great manager. They have a great stadium. They have a great fanbase and unlike many of these other stupid teams they seem to have a different concept and smart management to bring in legit young talent they can re-sell later, instead of becoming another cemetery of washed-up stars and mediocre US players.

As long as you don't touch Chancalay I don't mind. He's an interesting player.
