Very true yes, but to me I think its dodgy (or a made up briefing story to save face).
This is it 100%. No idea why we always feel the need to do this, it's silly. We're not the only big club around, we're going to miss out on big talents every now and then.
That's because like a lot of us, you have no faith and are more inclined to believe negative stories but it makes a lot of sense. Also we never put any bid, of that I'm sure.

Made up briefing stories are pretty negative to me, you are willing to believe that the club will feel the need to save face. But won't believe that the club never made a bid.
Please don't jump to conclusions. Where have I said I believed the briefing story? In fact I said it sounded dodgy. Secondly where did I say I was certain that we made a bid?
What report said we didn't make a bid that I said I did not believe?

To be honest I've never thought of that as a main asset of either, it's their dynamic ground coverage and quick release that made them stand out to me.
Release clauses are forbidden in France. There have been rumours recently of clauses added in side contracts but it's unclear if there's any truth to it and if they are enforceable.

Hasn't it arisen out of some strange dispute with his former Russian side? It's all very cloak and dagger here as I'm not privy to any French sources, I literally got that from a very run-of-the-mill rumour which linked him to Spurs the other week.
The dispute with the Russian club is independant and still unresolved, he may end up having to pay €10m in compensation.
French sources about a release clause for free are conflicting. Yes, no and yes but only to foreign clubs have been mentioned at different times so it's difficult to know.

You'd hope that even with all their hype and money, players recognise that they'll only be involved in a maximum of 13 competitive games a year.
Why can't Morata tell Madrid to feck off, surely a buy-back clause can only be activated if the player agrees to a contract with the club buying him back?
