He'd be a Cech-like signing, in that he's exactly what they need and he'd improve them massively.

On that basis I can't see it happening.

They are starting to build a good core of CM's if they get him. Coquelin, Kante, Elneny, e.t.c.

Don't want Kante. He's not great on the ball and we already have Schneiderlin.

I'd be more worried if they signed Xhaka.

Kante i fancy to go City, or Chelsea, both desperate to improve on meh seasons. Arsenal i think will get xhaka tbh but, again, wouldnt be at all shocked if they dont sign him. Wenger for you

Teams like West Ham - those immediately below the richest/biggest clubs in the league - will probably have to pay over the odd prices in order to snap up ambitious targets quickly. Not surprised by this really.

If their competition are Spurs and Juve then of course West Ham will have to pay more.

Ligue 1 watchers, how good is he?

One of the few highlights of Marseille's season possibly. It's really difficult to say, since Marseille had such a terrible season. I reckon he'd be a good signing for us and a great signing for West Ham.

Big and strong, can bully defenders to create his chances and hold the ball very well, decent shoot with both feet, a bit individualistic but if I had to partner Thauvain and Cabella, I'd also rather shoot than pass. He had an understandable dip in form when his club was playing the worst football in the country.

High potential but could benefit from adding more finesse to his game.

West Ham were tipped to get Lacazette the other day, guess he must have chosen Spurs and they've switched their efforts to Batshuyai.

Cheap signing for Barca. But I hear he's been sensational this season.

Last I saw of him was against us and he was being hooked by Bruce after 20 mins or something like that for not bothering his arse running around.

He'll just be a a cheap option to fill out the squad, though I daresay he could probably do quite well for a team that dominant in their domestic league.

Isn't he supposed to be bossing it in France? Such a talented player when arsed, maybe this move will reignite his career. Or Barcelona will make him look better than he is when they're dominating teams.

Not necessarily. Who would you replace in that starting XI? Maybe the RB. GK again maybe. They don't need any big signings. Their team is set for now.
It's an aging side. If Barca had the finances they would be buying young players to integrate into the team imo. This is a signing that is neither here nor there.

They're looking for squad depth and signing Ben Arfa on a free after the season he's had is a shrewd move.

They already have Rafinha, Sergi Samper and Sergi Roberto to integrate. So it wouldn't be wise from them to splash a lot of money on a 18 years old, there will be other talents at more interesting prices.

Edit: Oops, I was thinking about the Sanches link.:nervous:

I wouldn't call it an aging side really. Alves will be replaced this summer. The only ones who will need to replaced in like two years are Mascherno and Iniesta. Everyone else in their peak and can give another 3 to 4 years. They have those two Croatian sensations coming through plus they will have a few more from their academy who will shine and break through in the next two years.
Suarez - 29
Messi - 28
Neymar - 24
Rakitic - 27
Pique - 29
Alba - 27
Busquets - 27
Iniesta - 31
Mascherano - 31
Batra - 25
Bravo - 33

Im not really talking about 18 year olds, just players who are not late 20s / in their 30s.
They are getting close to needing to replace a few important players at the same time. That's what Sir Alex said was his highest priority, it helped bridge the gap and lessen the effects of rebuilding a squad.

Ben Arfa is one of the most gifted footballers around, and if he promised to try, I'd have him as our first choice right winger in an instant. Even more gifted than Mahrez to me, and is good enough to come here and win player of the year, although again, only if he tried.

The man can win games on his own and make defenders look stupid.

For the attacking 3, they already have Halilovic and potentially Munir, plus Neymar who is young. While in center midfield they have the players I mentioned, Barcelona are fine, they don't really need to splash any money without serious consideration.

I wouldn't take the Sanches to Barca link seriously. It's probably another ploy by Benfica. 2 weeks ago it was Real Madrid, last week it was Pep wanting him at City then giving up, this week it's Barca. Even if Barca were that serious, surely they would have caught wind of Sanches' release clause or Benfica's asking price and pulled out long ago given their "apparent" financial difficulty . But as early as yesterday, they are still very interested.

And why they would place Sanches ahead of the three you have mentioned is beyond me.

Vincent Janssen looks tailor made to play in England, wouldn't cost a fortune either.
