In any case, I don't think van Gaal would be interested. We were probably most likely going to lose out to Madrid even if he was, but it was clear that our interest in the player dropped massively when Moyes was sacked and van Gaal came in.

Don't know much about him but seems like he can play RM and RB. Will provide good cover and competition for Coleman as he's had a pretty easy run when he's not been performing well. Hopefully this will get him back to his best.

This has been dragging for ages and I'm pleased it's finally sorted. Good price for so one who cost us nowt, is unproven at PL level and out of contract.
