Still subjective I know, but it should be emphasized that that's just shy of £80million. You may still think that's way too much which is fair anywho.

Just cuz they paid £80m doesn't we have to pay that amount....in the current market he is only worth around £40-60m max.

When it comes to Italian clubs, indeed. However, he's meh for clubs outside Italy or where there's no Italian involvement in a deal. Otherwise he's pretty spot on with regards to Italian transfer deals. None better than him.

You have a point, but people also need to understand that a journalist is just that, a journalist. They report what they're told, and things can change....But this is not the thread to talk about this anway.

Completely understand that, I just mentioned it because I initially gawped at the 110 figure. It's big obviously, but I always forget the conversion rate of Euros to Pounds so 80 looks a lot less daunting than 110 naturally.

Just thought it should be put into perspective, regardless whether you knew it was roughly 80million or not :D

But yeah, I'd say £65-70million max is what his current worth is now.

What would he be worth to Chelsea, if he went there and helped them win 5 league titles in a row? Speculative but it could still happen. Look at how many people knew Chelsea would win the league when they signed Fabregas. Sometimes you have to sign these players. You talking about 'value' - well we did that and turned away from the likes of Hazard etc....Not always a good idea.

He was never worth the £85m they paid for him, and he is certainly not worth north of £60m now.

Honestly, if we assume that the purchase price of Bale to Real was fair, would people say his value has increased or decreased since joining them?

If we do end up signing Bale, I sure as hell hope it is less than what they paid for him.

I used to spend an absolute fortune on newspapers - solely to read about the transfer links to us. Thank God those days are long gone..

Indeed, used to buy the paper, and then find out on the day, they only had a story about Arsenal signing some french kid, used to annoy the hell out of me

Bit surprised about that Ancelotti rumour. I felt Txiki and Sorriano woul go for an idealist instead of a pragmatist, but the idealist they ideally want won't be available.
You keep saying this but even an idealist like Pep needs the ideal players for his system to work to perfection. Barca themselves probably won't be able to produce a Xavi and Iniesta in the next 2 decades, what makes you think City will in the next few years? City will be making a huge huge mistake to put all their eggs in the Guardiola or idealistic basket.

Thanks mate, did see the € symbol so had a vague idea it was north of £70m.

:D

I'd normally have a quick flick through the papers & make sure there were decent pieces on us. If there was - they were coming home with me so i could relax & prematurely gloat we're signing big game players. And if not, then i'd mostly just speed-read them in the shop; before gettin rudely told to f*ck off or buy.. again..

Surely no transfer involving Levy is a "done deal" before the window opens.

I'm calling bollocks on that source.

Lol! No way in hell have we signed Kane without Levy attenpting to make it a public bidding war.. Total BS story

I'd rather spend that £40m elsewhere.

Imagine he was a 30+ goal striker every season though

Yeah Andy Goldstein should really be added to the list. If I remember correctly Goldstein spent a good few hours hyping up a story about United(The usual shite stuff like breaking news story at 11:00)to then use it to promote a friends charity(Which I guess is a good thing but doubt it helped the Charity). Then when the criticism came in he essentially told people to go feck themselves.

Also let's not forget that the guy put in charge of transfer news at talksport is called 'The Moose'

This, there's no way such a deal would have been wrapped up so quickly and quietly with Spurs especially after the season Kane has had.

Sigh, Pilib posted that Joel Perriera's agent said that he's certain that DDG is leaving in the summer in March.

Not piggybacking off anything.

I am actually not worried about losing De Gea. Sure, it sucks to lose one of the best GKs in the world, especially given his age. We could however use the funds and finance resources we need more, whose absence has made De Gea invaluable.
