Why? Don't you guys agree with the gist of the article that Juve have been superb in the market and that clever spending is better than heavy spending?

Evra is just 1 player.
Both Tevez and Pogba left after seasons in which they didn't really play too.

I'd prefer to get to the top Juventus' way no doubt, but they're not there yet. And we can't say clever spending is better than heavy spending, look at Madrid and Barcelona. If you have the money, I don't see why you can't aim for a mixture of the two. Clever purchases with a premium fee paid if needed is ideal for me.

I agree that Juve have been shrewd with their transfer dealings. Even though their signings could have gone either way, they've made the most out of their financial situation, so credit to them.

What I disagree about is Ogden's point that even if we make the Champions League next season, we'd be a shadow of our former selves. We're only 2-3 quality signings short of challenging both domestically and in Europe and our recent poor form doesn't change anything. I wonder if Ogden would have written this article when we were outplaying Liverpool, Spurs and City.

Chelsea are interested in the 20 year old fullback Baba (plays for Augsburg). Apparently Mourinho is ready to part with 15 million euros for him and there's also interest from Dortmund and Real Madrid.

@naturalized that'd be a quality, ambitious signing if you pull it off (if you retain your top flight status of course, looks like that's what Mitrovic is waiting to see). The source is very reliable as well.

There is no universe where Mitrovic is quality signing...maybe only if he gets brain transplant, otherwise his attitude will be his own downfall.

@English_AS
Atletico Madrid, latest club to show interest in Red Star Belgrade's, teenage prospect, Luka Jović

He and Andrija Zivkovic are 2 best talents in Serbia but that does not mean much for me,mainly sometimes certain young players being forced,so they look like something what they arent.

Hmm, maybe you're right. I was left under the impression that he's a prolific, highly-rated striker with a big future ahead of him. Seems like more and more young, talented players are at risk of fecking up their future by having poor attitude.

City serious about Pogba or summat.

A bad google translation:

"To all Paul Pogba, with half of Europe there ready to launch the right move and decisive. And attention to Manchester City who now tries to speed up and get serious. Pending negotiation between the parties, meetings and open contacts between the two clubs and between the player / agent and Citizens. English who explained their project technical and economic: the intention is to set up a super team and spend 300 million on the market (and take De Bruyne and Sterling). As a coach: Guardiola. French midfielder has listened to the proposal, it will evaluate the various tracks even if you, the Premier is a championship that attracts a lot. Between City and Juve excellent relations: and in the operation Pogba (tied you, or even less) there was also talk of counterparts. These five names: Nasri, Kolarov, Yaya Toure and Jovetic. Bianconeri who for various reasons do not seem impressed but options like Dzeko or Jovetic could keep alive the direct line between the parties.

City in the queue, you want Pogba. But not the only one. And Juventus rubs his hands."

Interesting to see how much City will spend this year, sounds like they want to make huge changes.

Manchester United meldt zich bij Memphis Depay, meldt AD Sportwereld.

Translation: Manchester United signs Memphis Depay, reports AD Sportwereld

I think the fifth was Dzeko

Yeah it seems so :p Di Marzio is the most reliable journalist out there by a mile I'd say, but I'm a bit sceptical of any report that suggests up to five players were offered as make-weights. I have no doubt we'll do whatever we can to sign Pogba though.

I thought they'd been trying this since 2008? (the super team bit).

Yeah, still trying. Only a matter of time...

In regards to that last tweet, i just took translation from the bing translator, apparently it could mean that we've made contact over him.

Where are City getting £220m from? unless they ignore FFP and skip European football they can hardly spend half of that figure.

We've spent £230 million in 2 years, where is our 'super team'?

:(

It indeed is open talks, original tweet + article here.

Memphis Depay opent gesprekken met ManUnited en Van Gaal http://s.ad.nl/4004684

The battle for signature of Memphis is coming closer to an end. After he's held talks with PSG and Liverpool he's now spoken to Manchester United and Louis van Gaal. His agent Kees Ploegsma has been given the freedom to talk to clubs, once they reach a personal agreement a deal can be done soon with PSV. Memphis had 3 days off this week and Rik Elfrink is reliable.
