Gerson is not included in the Brazil under 20 squad due to transfer negotiations, most likely with Manchester United. Price: 30m euro

Bite their hands off. I'd be more confident of Nani coming back and being a revelation than waiting for Di Maria to "adapt."
Nani, who has had 7 years at United, deserves another one and Di Maria doesn't get a 2nd?

Gerson is a 17 year old Brazilian, he's the current captain of their u20 national team, central midfielder who're regarded as one of the biggest talents coming out of their ranks currently.

Dimaria is a brilliant player that hasn't lived up to last seasons form for us BUT he's still had a ton of assists and his fair share of goals.
It would be ridiculous to get rid of him, he needs to have another season to see if he can recapture that form. There is a reason why PSG are willing to pay £45+mil after a so called bad season with us.

This threat of the transfer ban is going to play right into our hands, I want to keep DDG but £200 k p/wk seems a bit over the top.

But if all is lost and he has his heart set on Madrid then we can get a far better deal for him now surely.

We are surely not going to pay that sort of money for a 17 year old from Brazil that hasn't made his club debut yet, nonsense story.

Of course it's ridiculous but it won't happen anyway. he will be an absolute star next season . PSG are trying to get rid of Cavani and would like Di Maria in his place , that's why all these stupid rumours keep popping up

Like Anderson and Kleberson were?

£200k a week is a fair wage for the performances he has put in and the standard of player he is. Especially when you consider Falcao is on £45k a week MORE!

It is so much easier to pay him 200k and keep one of the best keepers in the world rather than lose him for so little and then pay so much more to get in a replacement and then pay him 100-150K. Then we have to go through the whole training process with him to suit him to the premier league.

There'll always be hits and misses, Gerson would most likely play ACM or either wing for a Premier League side, positions which i'd say that i might be a bit worried about his pace.
But his talent is undeniable, he's showcasing it week-in-week-out in Brazil, although he might need to become a tad more consistent. Him being the captain of the u20 side for Brazil already should also tell you a lot about how highly he's regarded there.

Not to be downer, but I doubt Ogden knows about Real's targets. Read the report and it seems like a guess work.

Who was proven in the premier league.
Your're not wrong there, leave it to long you might have to play close to £50mil for him

It's is a big risk paying over £20 mil for a youngster as it can go horribly wrong like Betis with Denison, but if it goes right you can have 15 years of greatness or make a big profit

Agree,it nothing more than a speculative piece based on the possible consequences of Madrid's transfer ban.No actual new info.

There's no doubting his talent, I just have serious reservations about spending so much on such a young player, especially a Brazilian. United haven't got the best record with young midfielders from Brazil. Kleberson and Anderson were both playing for Brazil and both regarded as top top prospects, both also have amazing youtube videos of them ripping teams apart. I don't mind a gamble on a player (all players are a risk) I just think United need to concentrate on lesser risks and more experience at the moment.

Which seems to be the norm when it comes to any DDG news right now. No one seems to know anything solid.

It seems that we've been following Gerson for quite a while, and being a regular watcher of brazilian football i can understand why. If United scouts think they're seeing the next big thing and regards his talent on par with the likes of - let's say - Neymar (not saying that he is, but scouts could think so, who knows?), then surely - as a club - you'd have to take a chance at him.
As a club you can never start doubting what you see because the club you're at have a poor track record with certain nationalities, in order to win in the long term, you have to have the right balance of youth that you can develop on and experienced players to make a foundation and for youngsters to learn from.

A player like Gerson likely won't affect how we're buying to improve the starting 11 for next season, he'd probably come in and start in about a handful of games, while coming on as a sub when games allow it.

Gerson would cost 30m €, which would be 22m £. Never heard of him before, but as a 17 year old being captain of a Brasil u20 side doesnt seem bad.

Maybe a bit harsh given the attempted burglary incident etc....... That kind of thing shouldn't be underestimated. Give him another season, and I reckon he'll set the PL on fire :)
