The twins both managed to sign for United, wonder how it's being overlooked.

I think they had European passports (probably Portuguese?) for some reason, or am I mixing them up with someone else?

People keep mentioning Anderson like he joined United by word of mouth of being good whereas in fact he was immense and just won the Golden Boy award. A poor attitude and poor coaching from Fergie is what ruined Anderson, not his quality.

Warning: Mute that video if you're going to watch it.

Why is this in Transfer Tweets? Are we thinking about re-signing him, or something?

No one in their right mind is paying 30 million for a 17 year old.

PSG paid 45 million Euro for a 20 year old Lucas Moura. Rumours at the time suggested Fergie had offered a sum not much less than that for him before being gazumped.

We also paid 18 million Euro for an 18 year old 12 years ago - before the current transfer price madness. That turned out ok :D

When does Gerson turn 18? We can't sign him till then anyway and of course he has to get a work permit too. Would he qualify as an exceptional talent?

He'll be 18 next month, according to Transfermarkt.

This Gerson kid is apparently yet to play a single game for Fluminense's first team. There's absolutely nothing that could justify paying 30 million for him at the moment. Lucas Moura was tearing it up in the Brazilian league for Sao Paulo and Ronaldo had already broken through in Sporting's first team for a full season when we played that friendly against them.

I'm all for signing talents and I realize it's not my money, but paying 30 million for him would be plain ridiculous to be fair.

His injuries, diet and playboy lifestyle scuppered his potential, plus he was really quick back then and the consistent injuries and weight gain affected his speed on mobility which was a massive part of his game. It's a shame as he could have been a brilliant player - not really SAFs fault though.

Because he's name kept popping up when talking about Gerson.

Didn't realize you were a admin though, sorry.
Someone doesn't have to be an admin to point out that you're way off topic.

As an aside, the only thing that emoticon achieves is to make you look like a prick.

He was lazy pure and simple! The stories about him more or less not running unless he had a ball at his feet says a lot. Compare that to a Gary Neville who wrote in his back that when they were asked to run 5 miles - they ran 7 or 8

Yeah he was lazy for sure no doubt but the other points are also valid.

Gerson is a 17 year old Brazilian, he's the current captain of their u20 national team, central midfielder who're regarded as one of the biggest talents coming out of their ranks currently.
I watch him at Fluminense, and sincerely can't understand what the hype is all about.

He's a very good player, but it's starting to get in his head his way better than he should be. Supporters of the team and media are hypeing so much it's ridiculous.

30mi is way more than any club should pay for him. But his ceiling for progression is very, very high.

He's more of a CAM or play as a false winger cutting inside. He's not a CM.

If he isn't careful he'll turn out to be another Adriano, although he's just 17 and we should cut his some slack, at least for the moment.

Or he'd rather get smashed for his 18th birthday than represent his country. Priorities.

Looks like we should steer away as far as possible from this one.

Quote from manager “We called up committed players who have experience representing their country and have their [careers] shaped,” explained Gallo. “We need players who are fully focused on our targets.”

No way we have interest in this guy.

That's not true. He plays regularly for Fluminense's first team. He's one of the supporters favorite players behind Fred and Cavallieri.

But yeah, the price tag is unjustified.

If you're faking injuries at as a 17 year old so you don't play for your country, faking sickness so you don't have to train on your birthday and overall showing this kind of shit attitude no way you deserve to be successful in anything let alone something that needs so much dedication as football.
