The only new information:

PSV coach Phillip Cocu was unaware of the meeting when asked on Friday.

He said: 'Van Gaal is a very good coach with whom I have worked and he was always very pleasant and the Premier League is a great league. I have contact with Memphis on a daily basis about many things, but not on a specific club or league.'

I've barely watched him play but I just get the feeling he will do well in the Premiership on the few games I've seen him play. Considering the hyper inflated market right now, it's not a bad price either.

The one thing I've learned from my time browsing transfer threads is that footballers and football clubs are terrible at keeping secrets.

The only party interested in keeping the meeting private is the buying club. Both the player's and the selling club's interests lie in the world knowing about it. That's why you get all these leaks.

I never see him play a full game this season, Just remember him at the world cup last year when he was used as a sub by LVG. He was ok at the moment, never outstanding, not like Robben…. So I will not try to give him to much credit, or not enough. He looks a promising young winger, and that’s what we love at United.

Unfortunately, Bayern and Paris are on the road, and when we’re in a bidding war with these clubs we loose (Alcantara, Lucas). The LVG fact will be determinant here

And look at the fool now. He could have become one of the worlds best here no doubt, at PSG he is lighting nothing up and nobody even mentions him any more.

Not sure how you can say that though, we have a 60 million player struggling to get into the team right now. There is nothing to prove that Lucas hasn't performed because of his decision to join PSG.

He played only 90 minutes in 2015 because of a bad injury in December. I recognize his talent, but he's nowhere near Neymar for example. He’s much closer to Oscar in terms of performances, than Neymar. Somebody doing ok, but nothing great…. PSG bought him 45M, when Chelsea took Hazard for the same price. So I really think that we “dodged a bullet” paying 45M for him when he can’t score, doesn’t cross and he’s more central in his game than he should

The Netherlands were losing 1:0 to Australia, when van Gaal bought him on and changed the system with him from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3. He then scored a goal and had an assist, which basically turned the game around for them. I'd say that's better than okay.

You both probably should watch him play before you comment, he's been PSG's best player until his injury.

Have watched him actually and I think he could have been a much much better player.

The Muppet season is truly upon us!

To be fair, I'm not wholly fussed if we sign him or not on the basis I haven't seen him play much outside of the World Cup. But based off of what posters who have seen him play and the raw materials I get the feeling he will do well. It would be nice to have some pace going forward as well.

I'm in France, and I saw every PSG game this season.... Do you think that he may have been better than Pastore or Matuidi so far ?

The only way we're not getting Memphis is if he goes to Bayern. The others? No chance.

He's playing in a different position than both and he's a different player. I'd argue that Verratti, Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva are comparable to his performance level, possibly Pastore as well, but I think he's been better than Pastore before his injury. Matuidi has always been overrated for me.

I know its said time and time again but if Gundogan recaptures his world class form a long with Hummels we're seriously gonna contend for all top honors. Not to mention if Depay hits the heights we expect. The future is bright.

Has he played as a sole anchor before? Every time I've seen him, there's always someone next to him.

No, he hasn't, he's always played as the 8 or 10 to put it simply, which is why I find it odd that people seem to think that it is a good idea. Not saying he can't do it, but there's reason he's always been used like that from Klopp and Löw, his qualities are just of better in the box to box role or as an attacking midfielder.

Just read he had a case of bronchitis immediately after his back recovery, which probably extended things a bit.

Yeah, in january, iirc. He wasn't fit at the time and the bronchitis forced him to delay his comeback.
