Not only that but didn't lazio pay about £7m for him? we should have got him last summer if LvG likes him.

Signing him now would not make any financial sense at all and will only make us look like morons - again. It was bad enough that we signed Fellaini for much more than his buy-out clause that had expired a couple of weeks prior to that.

Yeah Wenger tried last summer and got no where(When we tried to buy Vermaelen, Wenger wanted 10m+ Smalling which is insulting more than anything eles) and I image it will be the same again this summer.

Smalling will only have 12 months left on his contract come the summer....

Selling Smalling to Arsenal would bother me a lot more than selling Welbeck did.

Falcao wanting a new club a blow? Also with how di Maria has been playing I'd expect van Gaal to have a go at him. I should write for the papers man.

I read that Young, Smalling and Jones were going to be offered new deals, not sure about the latter but the other 2 make sense. We should be relaxed about RvP as there should be nothing to sign, he either is sold in the summer or sees out his last year. The mixed stories on De Gea though.....I just figure he'd have signed a new deal by now if he was going to.

Andreas Pereira popping up on the bench recently and getting to come on seems a positive sign, as for Felipe Anderson, I don't see how we could accommodate him, Depay and Di Maria as well as Mata and trying to get Januzaj games..

Unless we are able to snag a world class defender in the Godin mold - Jones, Smalling, Rojo, and Evans should be able to do the trick next year.

Would you out Hummel's in that bracket?
I think we have been crying out for some leadership at the back all season and I'd be very disappointed if we went into next season with the same options.

That's probably the most worrying thing I've read with regards to De Gea's future. It's about as close as you're gonna get to ITK.
Yet there's the Telegraph saying we're relaxed about his contract. Everyone's ITK. I think if we get CL, he stays.

The Telegraph one has no sources. The PdB story comes straight from the agent of one of De Gea's fellow goalkeepers. It's in his professional interest to know what's happening with the goalie situation at United.

Maybe its naive of me, but I'd not expect the Telegraph to publish a story without some information behind it.

I really believe we'll sign Hummels, and I'd sell Evans to accommodate him. I'd be more than happy to possess Hummels, Rojo, Smalling and Jones next season. Maybe even Laporte replacing Jones too.

I would've agreed with this if it were last year's summer window, but I now with Hummels being on the wane and Smalling and Jones coming on strong, I think LvG could stick with what he has, including Rojo. Not sure about Evans, he could be sold, with the likes of Blackett, McNair, and Thorpe as the 4th CB option.

Newspapers routinely make shit up. I tend to ignore most of their stuff. But naming a specific source who has a vested interest in the story makes the PdB tweet far more credible imo.

Ideally we'd loan Blackett and McNair to Premier League sides next season, as neither are ready. Still think we need at least one world class centre-back in the summer, or at the very least a reliable one... As great as Smalling has been I know an injury probably isn't too far away, same applies to Jones.

Well I hope PdB is wrong. Very very wrong.

I'm not sold on Hummels. If we could snag Godin though, I would be wholeheartedly for it.

Has that young centre-back at Atletico continued to impress? Think his name is Jimenez? Saw him a handful of times and he looked the real deal.

EDIT: Gimenez, my bad.

I saw us get linked with him today somewhere. And then it said he'd be reluctant to move.

Yeah it's definitely too early for him to move. Simeone has given him his chance so I'd imagine there'd be a loyalty there. He has looked a proper good young defender anytime I've seen him though, one for the future for sure.
