He's flirting alright...

... Or he could be referring to the fact Dortmund won't be in the Champions League next season, who knows?

My first thought was that he's referring to staying with Dortmund when they miss out on CL next season, rather than coming here this Jan.

The other quotes from the interview confirm that your first thought is correct.

He talked about Dortmund still having a good team next year, unless they were to lose 15 players at once and that he was happy to stay.

Brilliant. Only player in our team (some may laugh at that) I genuinely think is rubbish. Even Kaboul, Chiriches and Townsend provide something.

Daniel Levy strikes again. We bought Ben Davies off them for £10m and he's 5 years younger. Also less than Eric Dier cost and twice what Yedlin arrived for.

£5m for Naughton? Nearly as bad as £14m each for Long and Borini.

Then you've got jokers only willing to spend £8m on Nani.

Fitting picture of Naughton, a couple of yards behind the striker, watching him have a free shot on goal.

A striker with very little pace ironically.

He's one of the two players you're terrified of being sent off; but the other one's amazing in the air and much more useful. Fazio by the way.

I think its absolutely NAILED on for us to sign a centre back this window. we probably want Hummels/godin but they just wont be available until the summer, so were looking into that no.2 option range.

Why? I see no reason why LVG will spend for the sake of it. He will want certain players, I can't see him settling for second of third best for the sake of a few months.

We have too many No. 2s already. I expect him to keep playing 3 at the back till the summer when he can actually buy a top CB and then revert to a 2 CB system.

I know this might be seen as deckchair arranging on a slowly sinking ship, but Davies, Dier, Fazio, Yedlin and Stambouli costing the same as Naughton, Dawson, Caulker and Livermore were sold for, isn't terrible business.

I would be very surprised if those two were our target since they have very different profiles. Godin is like a Vidic, his strength is old fashioned body on the line defending whereas Hummels is more about bringing the ball out of the back and starting out attacks. It looks like Van Gaal is looking for the latter type of defenders. Going for both would be puzzling in terms of what our long term plans are when it comes to playing style.

I'd not be surprised as I expect him to sell some of the ones we have. I expect us to buy as many as we sell, keeping the number to 4.

It's not the money, it's the games and time those fellows will likely take up without being good enough to really improve Spurs and get them in the CL. Dier is so young though, that maybe he'll get there.

He's a decent enough player. Nothing fantastic, but not a bad signing by any means.

Not even close.

Wages.

Also, Long or Borini need to be upgraded by a team looking to get into that West Ham-Swansea-Stoke 9th through 11th, stay up every year level, whereas you're probably okay with Naughton as your RB if that's your goal.

New signing :p

That's the Manchester United we all know and love.

Well done Spurs getting that money for Naughton - I initially misread that as being Kyle Walker given the fee, so getting that for Naughton really is good business.

Balague speaks some sense from time to time and he definitely has connections in Spain. He often gets things wrong but even then I reckon plenty of time he would have got the information from a good source, only it did not amount to much in the end.

Whats the point going in for average defender, either get a WC defender or keep what we got but first and foremost drop this 352 ball bag and play 4 at the back, honestly it makes more sense for us to go for a winger than any other position. If Chelsea are really going in for Cuadrado, we'd be idiots to let that happen without a say

Well there's not many WC defenders out there, and our current crop are usually incapable of playing a game of football, or not particularly good when they do.

And you say 'what's the point in going for an average player' then say we'd be idiots not to go for an average winger.
