I can't imagine he'd leave Dortmund mid-way through a broken season for them.

Makes no sense for him to leave in January.

1. They could win the CL and we can't, since we're not in it.
2. They could get relegated and he clearly cares about Dortmund and won't want to leave them in the lurch.
3. We're unlikely to win the title race. Would likely need at least 50 points from the final 18 games, which means at least 16 out of 18 wins.

He should just agree now to come in the Summer. Everyone's happy.

I actually feel respect for players who determine to stick around to clean up the mess they have been partially responsible for getting the club into. It shows a bit of character unlike everyone who tends to end up in Juve

Money talks.

£35m .. probably be more than that.. he has to want to leave though.

Hummels never struck me as the type who is all about the money, but with the shape BVB is in and the fact they lose One of their star players every season must weigh on him.

If we were to acquire him in January I think the bidding would start at £40... During the summer his price would be around £35m IMO.
Having said that, I think the likely scenario is We made a big offer which Dortmund will likely accept and he will be at MUFC by summertime.

De Gea strikes me as being very happy here. It sounds like his family are really settling too and he is apparently best friends with Mata and Herrera.

I don't think there's any chance of him moving for a good few years yet especially if we make him the best paid goalkeeper in the world. He's at a club where he can win the lot in the next few years as we continue to strengthen. I can't see why he'd risk upsetting the balance he's got in his life right now to go for the poisoned chalice at Madrid or the circus at Barcelona.

It's a really nice setup he has here and he's working with Hoek who is regarded as one of, if not the, best goalkeeping coaches in the world. Hopefully it's 6 years minimum with the option of another 20.

Someone posted on twitter last night that us and City are actually helping each other out here to a degree. Decent sized Spanish speaking community now living in the area due to the number of players we both have all with Wives and families is making it easier to players to join and immediately feel settled.

I think Valdez will help DDG as well and also has a relationship with Hoek.

Staring at a mid table finish, missing out on Champions League, playing for a Dortmund side that's slowly but surely being dismantled season after season, why wouldn't he want to leave before the ship sinks? If he has a shocker next season as well and gets dropped from the Germany national team the big clubs will disappear.

How is that even logical? I don't even understand what connections he's bridged here.
He's a massive Bertie and resorted to this kind of unfounded speculation last summer. Seems to get a kick out of making these sort of conjectures where UTD are concerned; most probably in an attempt to inflate expectations, and have a good chortle when things don't work out.

Hummels latest bid from LvG up to £35m according to Rob Parker at Off The Post just now

We're actually flush with cash and will be freeing up even more wages in the summer so even though I think that's over priced its probably January tax I'd pay it in a heart beat. Having said that though he was easily worth £35 last season and is just on a bit of dipped form most likely from the teams performance, lets not forget it was only months ago when everyone was talking about how good he was in the world cup.

Our CL spot and last 16 will probably cover a large part of his fee so it's money well spent if he plays every game until the summer and we make top 3-4.

This 35m figure is being quite widely reported now. Either there's something in it or all the journos are copying one another. Probably the latter, but after our summer spending I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's true.
