If I remember rightly, LvG said that he had to get the club back on an even keel again before he would concentrate on the youth deveopment side of the club. He was never going to neglect it. It just wasn't the priority at the moment.
I think that's the right way to go about it as well. Sounds like the club indeed have a good plan going forward.

As much as i love Ronaldo that is steep for a 30 year old.
I'm guessing it's one of those transfer that would make financial sense given the commercial benefits he'd bring, along with the boost he'd give us. Not that it'll happen, mind.

Yup I don't think Madrid will sell him until he remains their answer to Barca's Messi.

So madrid would have spent 20m on having the best player in the world over his best 5 years then give him back to us old, expensive and falling apart.

makes great business sense that.

I'd pay it, its Ronaldo. He looks after himself, he can adapt his game and he's not exactly showing any signs of slowing down is he? People talk like 30 is old, if he wanted it he could play another 10 years like Giggs.

If we can actually afford him, I don't even care that £60m is obscene for a 30 year old, we should do it. Chelsea and City have brought this on, but they can't really compete with the financial power house that Man Utd still is, and FFP is actually going to be in our favour with the kind of deals Woody seems to be bringing in. The last few weeks, despite dodgy performances on the pitch, keep seeming brighter and brighter.

Given the chance I'd pay £60m for Ronaldo and shaft Van Persie/ Rooney to recoup a part of it. Or maybe even the both of 'em. We won't struggle much for productivity anyway.

2010 - 2011 :
RVP + Rooney : 38
Ronaldo : 53

2011 - 2012 :
RVP + Rooney : 70
Ronaldo : 60

2012 - 2013 :
RVP + Rooney : 46
Ronaldo : 55

2013 - 2014 :
RVP + Rooney : 37
Ronaldo : 51

We can afford him. I'd take him back in a heartbeat, though I can't imaging he'll remain so prolific for much longer.

If Ronaldo is sold to anyone in the next summer it will not be more than 40 million pounds. Be it us, PSG, City, Chelsea or anyone.
60m pounds will not make any sense at all.

Yep. One of the best players in the world with 4 years left on his contract will go for less than 40 million pounds in a world where David Luiz goes for 50m and Di Maria goes for 65m. Makes sense.

No more than 40 million

In one season he isn't going to turn from the best player in the world that scores more goals than games he plays to an average overhyped fat Anderson/Rooney hybrid.

I don't think age will affect him as much as it does to other players, he still has 3 or 4 years of greatness in him yet, The thing with ronaldo is he is the perfect athlete he looks after himself really well therefore he is very rarely injured, he might lose abit of pace yes but his positioning sense and general skill makes up for that,

If Real Madrid were prepared to sell him for £60 million I'd bite their hand off. Ronaldo has a genuine love for Utd so if he did leave Real Madrid we would be his only destination. There's no way he would go to any other club.

But it won't happen.
