I thought this might happen. Cleverley will probably be happy enough to sit on his arse and collect wages for a year, he probably still believes he's good enough too.

I feel like Welbeck wanted reassurances he would get a number of starts this year and that Van Gaal told him he wouldn't be able to guarantee that and that he was even looking to reinforce his set of strikers. I think it's also likely LVG told him that he wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted to move elsewhere in search of a guaranteed position.
The comparisons to Sturridge don't mean much to me since I'd bet Sturridge got significantly less opportunity as a striker at Chelsea than Welbeck did at United. Also when Sturridge went on loan to Bolton and did get minutes as a striker he scored 8 in 12 appearances. I would have preferred to keep Welbeck, but I think Rooney, Falcao, RVP and Wilson in competition for 2 spots, assuming we continue with the 3-5-2 and without European football is more than enough. Our problems in attack have more to do with the lack of pace and service from wide areas and lack of incisive passing from the midfield than anything else.

The thing is thats exactly what they are saying. Apparently we are clueless and doing it all wrong and we should of bought lesser players rather than worldclass players and buying worldclass players are nothing more than panic stations by the club.
Oh and Van Gaal has nothing to do with these transfers, Woodward is doing them over his head just to please us gormless fans who now think we will walk the league etc, etc. Oh and all the big clubs turned down DiMaria and Falcao which should "tell us something" about the quality of those players.

I'd imagine we lined up Romero as we were allowing Lindegaard to move. As a move has not materialized, I reckon we're no longer interested.

No update on Falcao, no idea why we're in for Romero and indeed we're all gutted about Danny.

Probably only highest fee we could get for him. High wages (90k a week somewhere said?) not prolific, doesn't create... Sad to see him go, but had his chance imho.

We would have needed one had we let Lindegaard move, which we are prepared to do for free due to his professionalism according to his agent.
