Ya it's not really interesting to take over another team but I hope one of you guys do it for the draft to go on smoothly. I felt the same couple of drafts earlier to help out the draft I took over paceme's team for one game. Even if it is just firing up a formation and a couple of lines of tactics, it's fine as long as the voting goes forward and we have a formal game. It would end up as a formality but much better than a walkover.

Specially for a team that is as suspect in central defense as Pippa's. :wenger:
 
Why not have one of the losing managers face Pippa with their own team? Much better idea than basically having a boring game from a manager hwo doesn't believe nor care about the team he is managing.

Could even allow Pippa to choose opponent so he has an advantage which he deserves for giving a manager a second chance. Even if Pippa would be almost certain to win it he would face someone with the heart in the right place.
 
Think that's harsh on Gandalf, he clearly believes in his team and cares about it. I thought he was a highly entertaining addition to this draft and it's just bad luck that he had to go away for two weeks.

We don't even know yet, if he finds time to play his game. I was just asking if anybody has heard from him :lol:.

Look, if I get a chance to play again with my old team(which I loved) I'd be thrilled(especially since I lost in the slightest of margins :D ), but I'm not sure its fair for MJJ for his effort. But again, like you and @Aldo mentioned, playing a different team is clearly not fun, even if you qualify and get to make some changes so I would never want to do it. Anyway, I suggest we let @Polaroid decide on this one...
Which brings me back to the question, whats keeping us waiting for the other two matches remaining?

Me and Crappy are scheduled for tomorrow. He was away travelling for a few days i think. I've sent my writeup this evening.

Shouldn't we wait for the last 2 games to finish before we make a decision about who's taking Gandalf's spot? Crappy/Cutch and Pol/Fergus deserve a chance as well?
 
They should be taking over Gandalf's team, he's put out all the instructions as well as the tactic and formation.

I agreed at first but I'm sure any manager who will takeover would rather play his own team. I can speak for myself(and Aldo I know you can speak from experience) that arguing for a team which isn't yours simply sucks :D..
For me it should be either giving Pippa a free win or giving someone a second chance.

It does but it's more unfair to get rid of his team because he was unable to show up due to unavoidable circumstances.

You, or anyone, doesn't really need to argue or do anything. I know that's dull but it's a fairer option. Anyone just needs to fire up a formation and get the voting going so that we have a legit result. That's it.
 
It's Pol's draft mate, his decision counts. If it was up to me I'd get the game going even if it meant there would be not much discussion because GG spent time and effort to create it and the least he deserves is that it gets a game. He's even sent the basic tactic despite being away.

His opponent Pippa also wants the same and I agree, it's the logical thing to do.

Otherwise it creates a bit of a farce.

I agree with Aldo. I said before, that I don't mind doing that. I think it would be especially harsh in Gandalf's case, because he really wrote down his idea for the team, the formations, the strengths of his team and the weaknesses of the others. It's all there in his posts and should make for a decent tactical write-up. It's not like he just left without saying anything here. I also think it's a bit unfair on Pippa. He basically has to play the best looser now instead of the team that was drawn against him.

It's Pol's call of course, I'm good with either decision, just my opinion.

crappy didn't do badly a couple of drafts ago when Theon went into meltdown. He actually won a semi which looked lost on paper... then got unceremoniously dumped for the final.

BTW, just seen your profile on Lucho, which really lacked conviction. "So good he could play almost anywhere" sounds like you are selling John O'Shea. Keano with goals, that's what he was, that's how he should be played.

Cutch vs Crappy to take place later today at 4 pm GMT as requested by Crappy
Fergus still has not appeared although match was due yesterday. If he does not show up by tomorrow 9 April 9 am GMT, we have to find a replacement to stand in for one game first. Match will kick off tomorrow at noon GMT, tactics are to be sent to Aldo & Viva, match will be over on 10 April noon GMT
Gandalf is out for the next 2 weeks ie he won't be able to participate even if his team progresses. Someone either takes over Gandalf's team or those who wants a second shot steps in. So far only Viva and kps have expressed interest. We will decide Pippa's opponent after all the other matches are done and tentatively schedule his match on 11 April noon GMT.

Yes. Someone can take over Gandalf's team if he goes through after the match. He put in a lot of effort and it should not be discarded. Worth remembering that he took over the team himself after NM pulled out

As I said previously. I wouldn't mind taking over either Fergus or Gandalf's position, but I don't feel the need to play with another team. I think it should be either giving Polaroid and Pippa a free pass to the QF(lucky draw), or letting me and kps a second chance(lucky losers).

Anyway, that's only assuming they won't be back. Can't speak for Gandalf but Fergus has been a terrific poster. @Polaroid when will a decision be made? I mean, how long do they have to come back?

We will wait one more day for Fergus, if he does not show up, any volunteer to take over for 1 match? Fergus will resume control when he returns

As for Gandalf, my preference is for the replacement manager to take over his team, however if there is no one willing to do so, then viva and kps as the best losing managers get a second shot.

For both the timeline is 11 April noon. No volunteers means we do the draw to see who from viva or kps get a second shot

Fair enough, just one question.

Would the players from the teams that are dumped out due to managers being absent be available for the second auction? I think they should be.

Yes, as per OP, in reinforcement round managers can bid for players from eliminated teams or those yet to be picked ie it is an open pool, as long as the player is not born before 1970 and not in an existing team, he is up for auction
