Dont mind standing in for one of them for a match.
I thought of volunteering but I'm not even sure how Fergus is supposed to line up. I probably won't do a good enough job. Is it Gotze on the right?
Fergus - 11 players Ronaldo 95m, Zanetti 50m, Angel di Maria 15m, Kompany 20m, (Raul sold 30M--> 15m) Del Piero 25M, Toldo 12M, Alba 13M, Martinez 23m Gundogan 10M, Goetze 10M, Cordoba 10M = 2M
My guess:
Del Piero Ronaldo di Maria
Götze
Martinez Gündogan
Alba Cordoba Kompany Zanetti
Toldo
Del Piero as an inside left, Götze as a number 10 and di Maria as a right winger seems best here, the rest of the team is pretty much straight forward.Götze

the more I think about it, Fergus loves 2 strikers, so it could also be Götze on the left and del Piero as a 2nd striker. Both should work fine.

I think Del Piero as a 2nd striker behind Ronaldo seems the more likely plan.
Del Piero would be definitely playing behind the striker.
Yeah, I kinda looked at the midfield first and then put the strikers in. Realised later that it made more sense the other way round.

Lopsided 4-2-3-1 with Del Piero higher and closer to Ronaldo than Di Maria.
So we have found managers for the teams?

I used to think it was nonsense but there have been some very good efforts rubbishing my Peléisms. All the better if it gets Pat dipping his toes
I don't think Fergus would play Gotze way out wide, I'm sure him being played out of position was a big deal for him in a previous draft. It's Del Piero as an inside left with Alba overlapping and really providing the width. No doubt about it in my mind.
TBH, looking at his fullbacks and Di Maria's latest exploits I wouldn't be surprised if he was thinking:
Notice how in attacking phases it is effectively Di María working the flank with Alba and freeing up Del Piero to indeed act as a second striker to Ronaldo. Martínez either drops into a three if both fullbacks go mental, or covers Di María when he goes forth... They are all actually a pretty brilliant fit when you think it through.
Without having the faintest idea who he is playing or what he is up against, that's absolutely his best setup. Love it.

So my instant thought after looking at the players with del Piero as an inside left wasn't that wrong. The reason why I changed my mind about what Fergus might want was, that he also bought Raul and only got rid of him in a deal. And he often played two strikers in previous drafts, if I remember correctly. Götze out wide in the 'future potential draft' made no sense, because he was one of the standout players and deserved a team built around him. Here he's one of the weaker players, should be judged on his performances so far in his career and mostly played out wide for club and country in the last years.
I like Anto's formation best though.
Move Goetze in makes it a proper diamond with 2 strikers on top!
Not another one, pleaaaaase. You could carbon copy games with diamonds, all the same stuff, rinse repeat.
On a serious note, I don't see a call for it to be a diamond. I can see that lot working better and more naturally as a 4-3-2-1 than forcibly fitted into a diamond formation.
I think Anto's formation is clearly the best. It could also be a diamond like EAP says though with no troubles at all as so many players are comfortable out wide.

I've got tonnes of shit to do today and a roaring hangover as well so this will be a token effort at best lads! What do I need to do? I'm shamelessly stealing Anto's set-up and formation graphic, so is it just player profiles and a few paragraphs on tactics?
Yeah that is it pretty much. Send it to Polaroid or whoever is supposed to start the game and then argue why your team would win in there.

Click the video icon 2 right of the smiley icon. Then copy the entire youtube address in there and that is it.
