Transfer Muppet Fantasy

I think we need to be careful about the times people are putting down. I know for a fact there are some incorrect times there (there are players who are time stamped for bids a lot earlier than when they were made).

It's a fair point. I just spent the last couple of days reading people talking about how someone "could show up with five minutes to go". I think that would be a cnut thing to do, you could even get some player by attrition by boring the feck out of the other interested party sitting around 24 hours a pop...

All I've done is give all those managers advance warning that there's no chance I would let them have those players at those prices in 24 hours and I would take them instead at the prices I stated. Some will raise, hopefully some won't either and then I can move on to defenders.

I had that problem, when I started updating I was putting 17:01, but kept having to update the times for all. Think I actually ended with a one minute difference to when I posted :lol:

I get what you were doing but there was no need for you to do it all on your own. Other managers would have taken care of it. Most of those players would have been raised by others and it would have allowed for a more natural free market. What you did might have made a bit more sense if we were just minutes before the deadline and all those players were still at those prices (which would have never happened). I guess it's advantageous if you want play spoiler and artificially raise the prices.

One, it's not a smart move from Antohan if we wait till he goes bankrupt 24 hours later, and pick off his discarded players on the cheap.

Two, people might outbid him to safety if they panic now, which would inflate all prices in the market. Which means they'll be outta money by the time the next round of players come in, which is probably what Antohan wants. Keep the ones he has not been robbed of, and get the rest on the cheap, because not many will be in a position to afford a bidding war then. So he can walk away with O'henry for 25m, probably.

Three - there is a chance I might have benefited if I had kept these thoughts to myself and waited with an unchanged big purse for the next set of players, but that might ruin the entire game by fecking the balance of most of the other teams.


Bottom line: Don't do this to us, @antohan.

You are forgetting the element of: at those prices I would happily take any of them!!!!! If I leave someone else to make those bids then they get the bargains.

Stop trying to read an inflationary agenda, everyone sane around here would agree not a single one of those players would have gone for the price they were quoted at. Figo and Ronnie are the only ones that could realistically come through, and I'd take that!

I see nothing wrong in what Anto is doing. The only reason people are freaking out is because they want the players he bid for more than he currently bid for them.

Otherwise people would laugh their asses of seeing him go bankrupt and fined.

As I said earlier, yes, you could all sit around wait 24 hours and see me get a fine, then the ones I can't complete the transaction on come back to the market. Feel free to do it for kicks and effectively waste us all 24 hours to "make a point".

You making a big deal of nothing Aldo. Those bids are all within the realms of value, so much so my Seedorf one had been beaten by a full 5M before I even posted that!

Does he loose all players, or just the ones he can't afford? Is he fined 30m for each player he can't afford? Because he could loose all his money, depending on it.

He bid for 10 players, so if we go through it step by step, he wouldn't be able to afford the last one, fine 30m, 270 left, then he wouldn't be able the one before the last one, fine 30m, 240 left. Pretty sure he ends up with zero then, which basically shows, that it shouldn't be allowed in the first place.

No restriction on who managers can bid for as long as they can pay out when winning bids are confirmed. If they can't pay out, it is a 30 M fine per violation and the player is still available for auction. My only concern is that Anto may not care about tanking his team and takes on an inordinate amount of risk

If I can't but them I can't resell them cheaper. In fact, they would get offered to the second highest bidder at the price they had bid. If anything it is an incentive for THEM not to outbid me. Of course, banking on the fact I would be over 300M in 24 hours, which is extremely unlikely.

When the average spend of each manager per player is 27.2m, (and there's bucketloads of good players around) those are the prices they go for. You came in and raised each 'most wanted' player's price by around 10m instead, with no hint of any plan to form a team. Of course you have an inflationary agenda!

If you're really bothered about 'righteous' prices, why haven't you made bids for Adriano, Gonzalez, Joaquin, Mendieta, Cambiasso, Gary Neville, Marcelo, Abidal, Zambrotta, Carvalho, Lucio and all the keepers? They're 'worth' more, too? A late sneaky bid for these names when you have been relieved of your current 'team', perhaps?

That quote

sounds to me like he will be fined 30m for each player, not once for all.

He bid for 10 players, so if we go through it step by step, he wouldn't be able to afford the last one, fine 30m, 270 left, then he wouldn't be able the one before the last one, fine 30m, 240 left. Pretty sure he ends up with zero then, which basically shows, that it shouldn't be allowed in the first place.

Which basically shows people should move on and keep bidding as everyone is well aware most of my bids would get raised and I wouldn't ever actually have a budget issue unless everyone goes into inertia for 24hs.

Point made, i will only bid on a few players at a time. Watch the paint dry as we extend this forever. The quicker we get to the price people would stop bidding for players at the quicker we can move on to the next bunch of players.
